My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time yesterday. To be honest, we were a bit reluctant to try this place after the negative reviews left by former patrons. But, I'm glad we took a chance. - very friendly & attentive staff - clean location - ample parking - quick service - the food was amazing. We ordered the Gumbo which was awesome. The Gumbo was served in plastic ware with a stainless steel spoon, which appeared odd at first but the Gumbo was so good, that it didn't really matter. - we also ordered the crispy shrimp basket which was pretty good, as well. We had the clam chowda, tasty and comforting. But let me tell you about their by the pound dish that me and my husband had: We asked for a pound of the EZ to peel shrimp with the trifecta sauce (Cajun, garlic, lemon and pepper), with potatoes and sausage. We squeezed the lemons that they bring into the bag, mixed it up and it was the bomb. Me and my husband really enjoyed every bit of it, definitely going back. My only 'complain' is the excessive use of plastics and paper, but other than that it is a great place to have good food with a nice view in a centric location. We were tempted to avoid this place because there were quite a few bad reviews, but we went anyways because it was close to the tire repair store. (Twice we had to get our tire replaced within one week.) I'm really glad that we went anyways. We ordered two appetizers and split a Catfish hoagy, or whatever it was called. The appetizers were calamari and hush puppies. All of it was excellent. The main complaint in the Yelp reviews were about the service. We had excellent service! About halfway through our meal, we asked the waitress why they had so many bad reviews, and she said that the restaurant had just opened a couple of months ago, and they made some mistakes. The food was good, if you've ever been to a commercialized Louisiana style seafood place this is the same. The service was great, our waiter walked us through the whole menu and how to order the boils, which was super helpful. The prices were standard, sandwich averaging $14, the boils were based off the meat choice, king crab of course being the most expensive (as it should be), and lunch averaging $10. Came in Sunday (Mother's Day) waited an hour was not bad at all I anticipated it would be a wait however the server was terrible the servers name was Gabe I believe he made the wait not worth it. I have attended many angry crab shacks in different cities and didn't expect this service missed a couple of drinks and an order of oysters. After being told of the items missing he said so you still want it or not like wow. The server NEVER check on how we where we kept having to wave him down to check on our items and the place didn't seem as busy. The waiter even cursed at a point and said "what the fuck your food is here already" when he was just bringing beer over 15 minutes after we placed the order. The snow crab was good I will say. I went there at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I had to wait 15 minutes for a bartender because he was somewhere else. The only reason I gave it a two is because the food was very good. It was however 30 minutes after I ordered and there were only six people in the entire restaurant. After that i had to wait another 15 minutes before I could pay my bill. First time here and was a little disappointed but I will be back to try different things. I grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast so its impossible to get the freshness I grew up on. The raw oysters were great can't wait to try the fried oysters. I did not like the crawfish at all, I should have known better. I've yet to find a place outside the gulf coast that can boil good crawfish let alone great. Came here for a going away. Party of 12 and they accommodated us with ease. They were all out of crawfish and Dungeness crab which was pretty disappointing. Ended up getting some shrimp and snow crab. Got the trifecta sauce at a level 3 spice. The flavor was good but it wasn't spicy at all. Service was good and staff were friendly. I paid $18+ for a lobster tail for 2 inches of lobster meat. What a joke! The last time I ordered the po boy shrimp was not even that great either. We had an excellent dinner at the Angry Crab to this evening. The crab was outstanding as well as the side dishes. But we were disappointed in our server as when our bill came the bill was quite a bit higher than expected and when we questioned her, she laughed at us ad told us that will only happen twice a year. They have 2 crab prices on the menu for " dungeons crab " and she explained it to us each is about a pound. One is basically legs the other is body and legs and it shows the picture on the menu legs $28.00 a pound the cluster $40.00 a pound. So we each , my husband and I ordered a pound figured pretty reasonable along with other sides.Bill comes and of course it's $40.00 each.we are then told " oh we we don't have the other crab but twice a year, sorry, and a laugh. Seriously? What kind of service is that? A joke? You explain the entire menu to us but you don't tell us that part? Visiting Yuma Az we decided to try the Angry Crab the service was amazing our waitress was so attentive she had cute pink braids and she was pregnant she was awesome ya need to give her a raise ,she was handling all the customers with a smile even tho she was pregnant she was killing it on the customer service. The people cooking the food, please next time do not over cook the rice it looked like mushy oatmeal and had no taste the beans were good but dry not what I'm use to eating at other crab restaurants. Drove a hour to check out this restaurant. My wife and I were the first customers of the day. We were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was named Sierra. I ordered the lunch special grilled shrimp over rice with vegetables and my wife ordered 1lb snow crab, 1/2 headless shrimp with potatoes, corn, sausage. They were out of eggs. I don't know why they just don't go to Walmart and pick some up. I called the day before and they were still out of eggs. My food was bland. The bowl of rice was filled with oil. So my rice was submerge in oil. It was all bland. I think the only thing that had flavor was my Dr. Pepper. My wife's food, seemed like it was steamed or boil.. then the oil was added over the cooked food. Her food was bland. The only thing that had flavor was the sausage, and that wasn't from the garlic oil.. Sierra was nice, she came and checked on us frequently. She asked if my wife if she needed a lid for her drink and never returned with one. We asked for a cup of ice to go with a lid and straw and she came back with a cup of ice filled 1/4 of the way with the lid and no straw. We had to ask for the straw again. My wife and I had an excellent seafood boil dinner here. The major road sign directs you into a large, disjointed parking lot and GPS was no help. It's located at the back of the Shilo Inn so just keep heading further back into the parking area and you'll see some signs. 1. Professional, friendly service. 2. Excellent gumbo. 3. Go easy on the "hotness" level! I like a bit of tongue tingle and mild was more than enough. I can't imagine someone asking for one of the upper levels of spice. 4. Good choice of seafood to customize your boil bag. Overall, well worth the money and I was surprised that quality of seafood was available in the middle of the desert. read more

i was very disappointed , I got the soft shell crab po boy, it was just breaded fried carcus! This place is a hidden gem. We are staying at the Shilo Inn and didn't want to drive and tired of eating in the room so we ventured next door. Our server Madisyn was a rockstar from the moment we sat down. She went over the menu with us and was just super friendly and helpful. When our food arrived we were so excited to eat! Wow avoid at all cost. This was without a doubt, quite literally the worst, most disorganized dining experience if ever had. They brought us the wrong order three times! We never got a few things we ordered and the vegetables that we were supposed to get in our crab bag, came mere moments before the check. All the tables around us had the same experience. The cherry on top? I just found out they charged my credit card twice, for two different amounts, that's suspicious. Now I get to call the bank and get the second charge refunded. The food was ok.
