Just got back from a day trip to Fort Huachuca. At lunchtime, wife found the Angry German on our constant travel companion - YELP. We had not had German cooking for a long time, so we went in for the treat of our lives. The place is obviously very popular with the local residents, but we did not have to wait for a table. We had two different kinds of Schnitzel. I had the Jager Schnitzel, with a delicious and thick brown gravy, generously spread over the breaded pork and the Spaetzle. Not being a lover of cabbage, I replaced it with perhaps the best beer battered fries I have had in years. My wife had the Weiner Schnitzel with potato salad and tossed salad. All of components were both delicious and generous!. Our friend just had the goulash, something whose density made it seem more like a stew than a soup: he raved over it. I got a Broccoli Bree soup for my wife to take home - she just had it for her dinner and declared it "exquisite"! The staff were both attentive, professional, and very friendly: not an angry German to be found among them! read more

I loved the Angry German at Sierra Vista, AZ. Their food is fresh and delicious. Customer Service is Outstanding, and their baked goods are the best I have had in the US forever! Everything I tasted was delicious; I had the schnitzel with red sauce: and the texture was perfect. I also had their soup of the day: bean & chicken soup; it had a lil bit of green chile on it, and it was the right kick. Their cakes and pastries are all good, but my favorite was the pistachio and blueberry cake. I also enjoyed their coffee. If you are in the area, you must try it! I got takeout from here tonight and haven't even finished it yet and had to stop midway to rave about this place. It's kinda tucked away but right off the main road. It looked a tad sketch on the outside, but inside it was super busy. The host (?) who got my ordered was adorable and so happy and nice. The pretzel and beer cheese is fantastic (and being from Wisconsin, the beer cheese ACTUALLY tastes like beer cheese!). And the potato salad is some of the best I've ever had? Once again they didn't disappoint. You need to plan your time there due to it can get very crowded but hey that's not a bad thing. The staff are very very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The servings are more than enough to fill you up. I have eaten here several times and have not been let down. The food is absolutely delicious. Just like being back in Germany. First, I want to mention that the service was good and friendly. But that is the only positive I can say about this restaurant. As a German who grew up in Germany and moved to Arizona a couple of years ago, I'm very surprised that this place gets good ratings. Since I had surprisingly good experiences finding good, made-from-scratch German food in Sierra Vista at the "German Cafe," I wanted to give this place a chance. Sadly, the food was primarily warmed up or microwaved and not made in-house. We tried most items on the menu except the Döner and everything except the fries was terrible and had nothing to do with German food. This is the kind of pre-processed food you get only at Autobahn gas stations in Germany for around seven Euros. I really tried to find something positive since I never left a bad review like this on Yelp, but sadly, there is nothing to add. I hope this review motivates the kitchen to actually learn to make German food and not just open packets to warm stuff up. read more

THEY GET IT! If you haven't tried the Angry German yet... it's time. This place serves up some of the best German comfort food with big smiles. My wife and I enjoyed the food so much that we came back the very next night for dinner again and we were impressed again. The first night we had the Greek salad and the Doner with crispy fries. The next night we had the southwest salad and the green peppercorn schnitzel (daily special) and shared a very moist carrot cake. These salads are very hearty (large) and the dinner plates have large helpings with traditional German sides. Num-nummm!!! - Customer service is outstanding A+ - Food quality A+ - Homemade cakes A+ - Clean restaurant A+ There is "no" restaurant in Sierra Vista that has customer service this good. Everything I've eaten at this place has been fantastic. I have tried ordering things that would disappoint me in an attempt to self sabotage the experience and I e yet to achieve that. The closest I got was the gyro that was far from excellent but still decent enough. Servers are nice, they're happy to help, attentive for the most part, and do bring out your drinks and refills in a timely manner. Good vibes all around. Man oh man. Where do I begin? So first off, I traveled down to Sierra Vista / Fort Huachuca area for work and to visit family in the area. Many a meal was eaten at various restaurants in my week long trip. But hands down, no questions, this place was the BEST in every way. The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about your dining experience. Don't care if they were in it for the tip or not. Fantastic service. I'm going to be real, this place has no frills when it comes to ambiance. It's simple. Nothing fancy. But it was clean, nice background music, etc. And it's a small military town which is near and dear to my heart so the walls were adorned with Army memorabilia. Now, the food. Bruh. Best German food I've ever had. The schnitzel, German potato salad, Reuben sandwich, gravy, you name it. My lord this was amazing food. And the cherry on top was the liquor selection. Whew. Bottom line up front: Excellent customer service. The food was exceptionally delicious. Facility was clean, vibrant, and inviting. I would go again. I ordered the soup of the day which was the tomato gnocchi ( they also have goulash soup too). Angry doner (essentially a gyro pita sandwhich that comes with steak cut fries), and a single potato pancake that comes with peach apple sauce or sour cream and chives on request. You can also request their curry ketchup for the fries. I'm gonna use a little bit of slang here; I got their pastries (bear claw) and, as the young kids say, it was absolutely bussin'. No cap, that shi was fire! In formal English that translate to "extraordinarily scrumptious". I wish they had a small Cafe section where people could just stop by to eat pastries and drink coffee. Maybe something in the near future ;). The resraunt itself is bright, open, and clean. I wish I took a picture of the bathroom but it was super clean and smelled great. I know this may seem strange but some people would agree that bathroom cleanliness is indictive of the establishments hygienic practices (ei clean bathroom=care in food preparation). I don't know why that's a thing but some people look for that kinda stuff. I just thought I'd share that with yall. Thank you Angry German and staff for making my first time a great one. I haven't been back since the ownership changed last year. Happy to see this place is still open and even expanded into the weekends.
