A week ago, last Saturday I decided to give County House a try for some Biscuits & Gravy. I tell you it's been a long time since I have found them as good as they have. The downside is for only two biscuit's the price was a bit too high for what they call a full order. For me and that price a full order would have been at least 4. Service was excellent. I've been here a couple of times & was never impressed. My friend wanted breakfast and wanted to come, she was driving. Ok I'll give it another shot. Server was a guy. Very nice. Just moved here from back east. My review isn't about the service. Had the pancakes, bacon & egg breakfast. I honestly don't know how you get pancakes stodgy, aka dense, heavy, overly filling, and often unpleasantly solid or gluey. Bacon & egg were cooked nicely. $5.25 for a large milk. I have been going to this restaurant for 24 years in the last year the service and food have suffered. Now the food is average, I wish I could say the service was poor, but we didn't even get served or waited on. Tables seated way after I was were waiting on and waitress and the hostess just walked right past us. We were seated right by the entrance to the kitchen, so it's not like we were not seen. This restaurant has definitely gone downhill in service and quality of food I used to go to this restaurant a couple times a week not just for the food, but for their staff who used to have career waitresses and now they just hire anybody. This restaurant always draws a big breakfast crowd. It's a popular place among the local retiree population. The menu is extensive And the prices are reasonable. There is plenty of room between tables and the parking area is spacious I came in on a Sunday afternoon. I was seated in a booth against the front wall. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. the honey-mustard dressing was quite good! The chicken patty could have been cooked a little longer, but I was hungry and ate it all. Breakfast isn't cheap anymore...a group of five of us came for breakfast and spent $87. We arrived at 9:30am Friday morning. We were greeted nicely, quickly seated, and had drinks ordered. After we placed our order we waited for quite a long time but it was nice to have some conversation and not just quickly dive into eating. Each of us had a pretty big meal, some substitutions were made but overall we were all pretty happy with what we received. I got the chicken fried steak and it was very crunchy, gravy was a bit thick and my over easy eggs were a little underdone. Potatoes were yummy. The good: Leslie was amazing. Great service. Very nice and fun. The prices were reasonable for the serving sizes. Bacon was cooked to order (much appreciated because I don't like crispy while my husband loves it). Drip coffee had a nice flavor. The bad: margarine instead of butter on the toast. Which is not my jam (get it? Jam. Because toast). The syrup was old and stringy. The kielbasa was bland sausage and not traditional kielbasa. Bacon was thinner than I typically see at a restaurant. To consider: We didn't take the kids but there were a ton of families there. Didn't see high chairs. Cannot speak to the bathrooms. I will say that we went on a date and the hostess originally placed us in a room with all families and kids that was completely claustrophobic. It took a bit of negotiating. But she ended up seating us in a quieter and larger area. There seemed to be fairly strict guidelines about seating guests and rotating areas which might be prioritized over guest preference. The management/owner need to learn what the rules are pertaining to pets in the restaurant. This morning a group of elderly people came in for breakfast with three small dogs. All three dogs wore vests that said "service animal". These were not typical service animals and were indeed their pets. The owners allowed the small dogs to walk on the tabletops and chairs. They even ordered bacon for the pets and fed them breakfast. It was highly unsanitary. The server did nothing. I informed the manager of my feelings and despite seeming surprised, nothing happened. I believe the management should have used common sense and discreetly questioned why three chihuahua size dogs had to be in the eating establishment. I understand that the management is limited on their questioning of the customers due to ADA. However, pets or service animals cannot be fed in a restaurant or walk on tables and chairs. read more

The country fried steak was cooked perfectly with a great gravy smothered on top and the eggs were perfect. We went for breakfast and everything was delicious. Our party got the country fried steak, Denver omelet and French toast. The eggs on everything were cooked perfectly, the steak was super tender with a flavorful breading and the French toast was made with French bread and was nice and custard. The manager was the one that helped us and was very rudy about it when asked, saying that I'm the manager here a d would know if we did. Their service today on Veterans Day was very poor. We came in at 11 am. We did not got our silverware until meal is on table. We waited and waited and did not got our food till a hour later. 12 noon. Waitress forgot to give us our straws. It took 5 times, then we got them. We order lemon iced water. Water was barely no ice in it. We had to asked for cup of iced and lemons for the water. After meal, asked for refills of water, never came by. Veggie Beef soup- tastes like Dinty Moore Beef Stew Porch chop- too much pepper Green beans - beans was soggy, bacon over cooked, found a big huge stem in them. Mashed potatoes, very dry, rough, lumpy, flakes not stirred in well. French fries, tough , over seasoned Dinner rolls, wet on bottom, cold butter on top Chicken fried steak- nothing to write home about. Had better. Very pricy. Pork chop and chicken fried steak over $30 with no beverage or nothing add. Pork chops $16.99. Hinz ketchup bottle look like has been used many times. My water had a big long hair in the glass. I've been eating at this restaurant since 2015. I've never had any reason to complain about anything. The individuals working there are ALL good people. Obviously, wait times will be somewhat longer when large groups are present (as in any restaurant), but I fully understand that. I'm retired (30 years Army) and have ALWAYS been treated wonderfully well by staff. I read a comment that this restaurant doesn't support Veterans. I have no idea what the individual who wrote that was thinking - as this restaurant is FULL to overflowing with "Veterans" from all services! Must have been a bad day for that person. I'm not in any hurry and have enjoyed every meal I've been served there. Come in for good 'home-cooked' meals, friendly wait-staff (who are human beings with feelings) and have always treated ME with respect which I in turn provide to them. The restaurant's ambiance is laid back, soft environment, comfortable seating and "unrushed." If you're looking for instant breakfast fast food - there's a 'Mc' Ds' just down the street. This place deserves 0 stars. I ordered a sweet tea and it was horrible. It tasted like it had been brewed to long and had barely any sugar. I then ordered a lemonade that also tasted horrible. There was a white foam and weird bubbles in each drink. The food tasted old and was not portrayed like it says on the menu. The eggs were fake, the dinner roll tasted like it sat for days. We got up and didn't even touch our dinner we were so dissatisfied. When speaking to the manager she could care less and still made us pay for a meal we didn't eat. The best she could do was offer 50% off of food we didn't even touch. Do not recommend. The waitress was nice but the manager was unprofessional. Oh, my parents loved this joint. They're regulars here, and they were so excited to share their new favorite place with us. The people certainly were friendly. Our waiter was apparently known by my parents, as they took every opportunity to address him by his first name. I guess that's just what they do... The decor is everything you'd expect from a place with "Country" in its name. Lots of pastel flower coverings, antique-looking knicknacks, framed paintings of country homes. You get the idea. They have a pretty large menu, and the portion sizes are generous. The best thing, though, are the prices. My meal was less than $6, which is almost unheard of for the amount of food we got. We placed our order pretty quickly after sitting down, and though they were busy for Thanksgiving morning, it came out quickly, too. While my meal was good, there wasn't anything there that made me want to clap with glee. I couldn't finish everything, and it was all fresh, but nothing spectacular. Granted, I got a plain meal: eggs, potatoes, toast and bacon. I guess I got what I paid for. My husband, meanwhile, loved his corn beef hash breakfast. He polished off his plate in record time, and went on to help my mother and me finish off or bacon. Again, the food was decent, and the servers friendly. I just had no burning desire to go back. Country House is our family's go-to spot for a proper country breakfast. It's on 92 in Hereford and is about 5 minutes from our house and it's now our "Sunday Morning" routine to come here with our little one. We like having our little routines and this is one of those nice moments when I (mom) do not have to cook! The staff are very friendly but the restaurant is highly under-staffed. The wait is never long to get a table but you can tell they are working their hardest with what they have. I wouldn't give this place 5 stars because the food is nothing to run home about. I come here because the atmosphere is cute and the people are nice. The food isn't bad, just nothing great, and they could use better options for breakfast. I know we are probably the youngest people to walk in as most of the customers look like retired vets. Overall we enjoy coming here and hope they can manage their staff better and hire someone solely for front of house. read more

Seen this place while driving down the road and figured let's give it a go. The decor seems a bit dated but don't let that fool you. The food is amazing I had the Special cream cheese French toast. Bread was very soft and fresh came with blueberries and syrup. Mine was wonderful. My GF had the French dip that came with fries. The Cajun fries were really good and out of the normal. The French dip was lacking the normal cheese it normally comes with. But nothing a request couldn't fix. She said it was one of the best ones she's had. The food definitely out weighed the decor. Today was our second visit to this restaurant. We wanted to give them another chance after the horribly slow service and mediocre food we experienced the first time here. To be fair they were very busy and under staffed then. Today the restaurant was busy but there were plenty of staff there to handle it. We were seated quickly and ordered coffee and our food. However, we had to wait 20 minutes to get the coffee and never did get our meal. Why? Because while waiting for our food we saw multiple people walk in after we did, sit down, order their food, finish it, pay, and walk out. I'm a white guy and my wife is Chinese. I'm not sure if that had something to do with the long wait or maybe they serve the regulars first. After waiting for 45 minutes the restaurant was mostly empty and we still were waiting for our food. So we got up, left some money for the coffees and walked out. We live five minutes away in Sierra Vista. However, I will never go back to this restaurant. They burnt a bridge we me. Buyer beware. read more

I come here every time I visit my retiree parents and we want a 4pm supper. It's exactly the predictable kind of dining you find at any "country skillet," "grandma's kitchen," or other down-home style cookin' joint similarly named. No highfalutin or pretentious "interesting" food, and certainly nothing stylish enough to be featured in hipster circles. But definitely the stuff of retiree 4pm suppers, which I can get behind on those rare occasions I get to hang with Mom. This supper though... what a let down. I didn't remember the food being so ... bleh, and I definitely didn't remember it cultivating the likes of an $80 afternoon for four with two iced teas and no dessert. WTH? I spend that on awesome food, not ridiculously ordinary triangles of fried frozen cod or dubiously seasoned and disturbingly colored creamy pasta. The baked potato, though undoubtedly at least a couple days old, was flavorful (owing no doubt to the enormity of butter) regardless of the stale texture. And the salad was a good try, with the fresh shrooms, cheese, and tomato wedges. The tendrils of old, slimy lettuce only surfaced occasionally, so I could pick them out without too much disdain, and the [literally] bottom-of-the-barrel crumbs of what used to be croutons in lieu of actual croutons actually worked in its favor for me. Everything on the dinner menu was $9-16, which was laughably overpriced for what was delivered. The service, though we were one of exactly two tables in the place, was somehow so delayed as to enable ordering only after about 15 minutes or so, and it was executed by a very unenthusiastic, but clearly veteran server. No water refill offered and no desire inspired for dessert. There was one high point though... Mom. read more

It took 25 minutes just for our drink orders then the lady disappeared for another 20 minutes before taking our food order. Total, we spent over an hour waiting for two adult meal and a side of pancakes. Also, expect a $2 surcharge from Covid. Food was okay, decently priced minus the surcharge. Downside, very, very slow service. Server wasn't very friendly. I'd like to say they're just getting used to being back after Covid, but come on. The wait was ridiculous. read more

I've eaten there twice, the most recent being Saturday morning 12-31. I believe everyone deserves a second chance, and I usually don't write reviews..but in this case I have to make an exception. Both visits I had scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. Both times the eggs were not completely done, the hash browns were extremely crunchy and dry, the toast was warm bread and was the only thing that was warm. My 2 dining companions had pancakes..one with sausage, one with bacon. The pancakes were cold and hard..I mean hard. The bacon was a little undercooked and they both could only stomach about half. The server was slow, forgetful, inattentive, and kept making excuses for everything. I for one will NOT be dining here again. read more

Although we could see plenty of clean tables we stood waiting. While waiting another couple came in. At this time there are now 3 couples in the lobby. (There was a couple waiting for ice cream) A server comes out to the lobby and addresses the latest couple by there name and tells them they can go sit in their usual seat.
