Eclectic decor, super friendly staff (shout out to Heather for top notch service!!) and wicked good food. Visiting from out of town and stopped in for lunch- we were not disappointed. Generous portions of smoky pork on the sliders with house made BBQ sauces, light and crispy fish tacos (other options if fried isn't your jam - blackened or grilled) and tangy Buffalo chicken dip with large pulled pieces of smoky chicken (just a hint of heat). After a long day on the Maderia Beach, we decided to have dinner at a restaurant close to our hotel. We saw Angry Pepper while we were trying to find our hotel, and it was within walking distance from the Courtyard. We started off with the Wing Thing, which is 10 jumbo chicken wings. The wings are marinated and smoked to perfection. We had them with the mild sauce, which had smoky and sweet flavor. For our main course, I had the Blacken Fish Tacos, upgraded them to the Mahi Mahi and Sweet Potato fries. My wife ordered the Beef Brisket dinner and the bartender recommended the Kronenbourg 1664 Lager to go with our meals. My wife, who really dosen't like the brisket cut, said this was outstanding and it lived up to the advertisement of the menu, "You don't need no teef to eat this beef". The slice she gave me was so tender and the sauce added to the flavor, not over powering the brisket! The fish tacos were a bit heavy on the cheese, but that was easily fixed with a few scrapes and the Bonsai sauce on them gave them the perfect balanced. The Kronenbourg 1664 Lager was light and had a sweet apricot flavor. The staff were incredible and we were helped by everyone on duty, so everything came hot and our drinks were always filled. Overall, we will not miss the Angry Pepper when we are in the area again! read more

We ate here on Thurs, Oct 19th in the evening. An awesome little bar that's spotlessly clean with friendly and attentive service. The food is simply outstanding, particularly the mouthwatering BBQ. Bad food and service! I haven't been in awhile now even though they are close by. Probably won't be back.

We have been trying lots of new places who are part of the local Club Savor and decided to give Angry Pepper a try. At first glimpse, they have a tiny, one way, dead-end parking lot, but the website says to come inside and they'll tell you about more parking. (It's around the corner, behind the building next door). The place has a big U shaped bar as well as tables in the front and a good number of tables in the back on the water. As luck would have it someone was getting up from a table in the back as we came in. The servers aren't overly friendly or chatty and hit their brakes to take your order as they fly by. But they are fast and efficient. We started with a couple of beers, and the beers are a great value. We also decided on an order of The Wing Thing ($12.00) a pound of large smoked wings. The menu says that after slow smoking them they finish them in the deep fryer. They must have missed the deep fryer step with ours because even though they had a great smokey flavor they were fatty and chewy on the outside. We picked the Angry BBQ Sauce from the Angry Meter (third from the hottest) and they were ok but not as spicy as expected. They have a very limited number of entrees on the Club Savor list. I chose the Beef Brisket Dinner ($13.00). It was smokey and tender but to the point of being mushy. It came with coleslaw and baked beans, the slaw was bland and I would have expected a smokehouses beans to have more flavor or heat. Our other entree was their Big Ass Burrito ($11.00) - It was big is probably the best thing we could say about it. Actually, the burrito was nicely grilled and crisp on the outside and pulled pork was smokey and tender. But, the rice, black beans, and pork all made one mushy texture. The menu says it has grilled peppers and onions in it, which would have added some texture but we didn't find any. Overall it was bland and had no texture or heat. Because of the Club Savor our entrees were half off and even at that price we didn't think they were very good. Not on our return list... read more

Our first time at this restaurant and overall it was OK. The atmosphere is nice, and there are a lot of nostalgic items hung around the restaurant. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos because it's difficult to get high quality & fresh Tuna in central New York. The tuna itself was good but the tacos were drenched in a wasabi-based sauce, which was EXTREMELY overpowering and muted any other flavors in the dish. Unfortunately we were paired with an extremely rude waitress named Gorgee. She was not attentive and acted as if she had a chip on her shoulder. If you're going to pound brisket & beers then I definitely recommend. Other than that stay away from the waitress Gorgee. read more

Three stars but not in a bad way. I've visited on two occasions. This time it was a bit rainy and they had the windows covered which is great but it made it really hot inside. No air flow. They are barbecuing out back and you can smell the deliciousness but it also does get a bit smokey. Thats ok I love the smell of barbecue in the air. Food is okay, drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. Parking is a nightmare so keep that in mind. I would revisit if in the area but not necessarily making a special trip. read more

I used to love this place. The self-proclaimed manager Sunny had a terrible attitude towards us. She was rude and disrespectful towards my entire party when we ordered drinks. Although she was compliant with the law for identification in order to serve drinks, her delivery and respect for us was terrible. I've never seen a server treat patrons so aggressively and disrespectfully. I attempted to discuss her behavior with her separate from my group and she became more disrespectful towards me. That led me to this review. One star because you can't give zero. read more

Denise was our server this time and was both friendly and effective. She also assured us that (despite specializing in smoked meats and in fish) they would also be able to accommodate my vegan brother, since everything is made fresh to order. Great little beach bar atmosphere with delicious fresh made food. Their hottest wing sauce was actually really hot....something I have a hard time finding lately!!! The meats had a rich Smokey flavor and the chips were clearly housemade, as advertised. Our server (Tarek or "T-Bone") was super friendly and helpful, too. We stayed at the Courtyard next door for a week and came to this place almost everyday. My kids loved it. All of our servers were great even though they are understaffed because lazy people don't want to work. We tried almost everything on the menu and it was all good. Place had a Key West vibe. Exactly what I wanted. The only issue is the smoking. I don't care how people want to kill themselves but my family shouldn't have to suck in cancer sticks while they try to enjoy their meals. Smoked Wings: Today I ordered the barbecue smoked wing and when I tell you they were terrible, I mean it. They came burnt with almost no sauce, they were extremely unpleasant to eat. The celery that came with the wing was terrible like they got it a week ago. The Bubba Burger that I also order was supposed to be "the best burger" as it said on the menu, but it came uncooked and, with soggy bacon. The lettuce on the burger came with brown spots on it. Terrible experience. Arrived on a slow Sunday and sat ourselves inside. A 15 minute wait before we were approached by our waitress. Servers (bartender) were rude to my son. We ordered apps but got no side plates or flatware to eat with until or food had gotten cold. Fish dip was particularly terrible. Drinks were watered down and prepared with too much sour mix. The dining area is lackluster and could use a good cleaning. Every employee we had interaction with seemed to be irritated at our mere presence, if they could roll their eyes at customers any more their eyes would probably fall out of their heads. After our 9-hour south it was good to walk Madeira Beach at sunset then head over to kick off the rest of our time in Florida with a meal. It felt like vacation. Portions are generous and tasty. I had the smoked beef brisket basket with the slaw and baked beans and it was good. There was a choice of BBQ sauces to add but I was fine with what it came in. Maybe it was an off night but the service was terrible. Slow on getting drinks and one order was wrong. Mistakes happen but there were a dozen ways they could've handled it better. My bf ordered the BBQ Rib combo meal. It includes half order of ribs and one additional meat choice. My bf asked how the ribs come prepared and the server said with bbq sauce, my bf asked if he could get them dry. Server said no problem. I say this because when the meal came out there weren't any ribs at all. It was the other combo platter on the menu. It did include the brisket which was the other meat my bf picked. When notified of the mistake they took the entire plate away and said they'd fix it. We inquired if he could keep the brisket so he'd have something to eat while the rest of our group ate their meals. They refused to do that and made him wait another half hour to get his meal. By then the rest of our group was done eating and thirsty since getting drinks was a challenge too. No apologies and not letting him eat the brisket since it was part of his meal was just wrong. There's inside seating but it's all open. We chose to sit on the deck and enjoy the sunshine on this cool January lunch time. They have a good beer selection and they're specials were a house smoked buffalo chicken dip or a lobster artichoke dip. We chose the chicken and was very glad we did. It was delicious! ! Stopped in for an afternoon meal today, Sunday 10/11 as we haven't been for quite a while. We started with a pitcher of Bud Lite and an appetizer called "Bottle Caps". These are slices of Jalapeños, lightly breaded & seasoned and then deep dried served on a bed of shredded lettuce with sour cream and Shark Bite sauce for dipping. If you love Jalapeños then this app is for you! After finishing them I actually considered ordering 2 more orders as the main course... They were that good! For the main, we both had the Fish Taco's and ordered them Blackened. They were a very good size, well packed with nice portions of fish, plenty of melted cheese, shredded lettuce and came with chips & salsa. The flavor was great! We were quite satisfied from the hearty portions and delicious flavors. Definitely we both agreed that we'd do this again!
