I called Dr. Anil Daya's office to schedule a simple routine visit. The receptionist first told me they accept my PPO insurance and even booked the appointment. While she was "verifying" my insurance, she suddenly put me on hold and then hung up on me. When I called back, another staff member answered and the story completely changed. I was told they do not take insurance at all and that I would have to pay $500 upfront for a visit. I was also told that despite being an MD, Dr. Daya would not prescribe any medications and that the appointment would not be a real medical consultation. Instead, it sounded more like an integrative-medicine sales pitch where you pay $500 out of pocket and likely get offered supplements afterwards. The way the information kept changing, the lack of transparency, and the dismissive attitude from the staff were all huge red flags. Definitely not what I expect from a professional medical office. One of the very best. Dr Daya is an expert in integrative medicine and he is so kind and patient. He is very knowledgeable about alternative treatments and prevention, and I will always see him for a second opinion or for general health. My mother and I have both been long-term patients of Dr. Daya for many years. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, my mother had to move away and has been unable to see him over the past few years. Despite this, she has referred numerous patients to his practice and has always valued the care she received. She has continued to purchase medicine year in and year out despite not being able to come up to Westlake. Now, when trying to return as a patient, she is being told by his wife Debbie, who works as the office manager that because it has been more than three years, she is considered a "new patient" and will not be accepted. This is extremely upsetting, especially given the fact that thousands of dollars have been spent out of pocket over the years, as Dr. Daya is not covered by insurance. What is most disheartening is the lack of empathy shown in this situation. Even though my mother is willing to fly back into town for her appointment--despite her health struggles--she is still being refused care. It feels as though loyalty, history, and health concerns have been disregarded, and that financial policy, and money has taken priority over patient well-being. I am truly hurt and disappointed by this experience. I only hope that we can find another physician who values patients as people and not just as financial transactions. read more

I agree with Nashin and Sonny he's all about the money to the point of billing falsely. He billed my insurance for things he never did or we even discussed. He gets a way with it that's why medical insurance is so high doctors like this billing falsely. He's a real charlatan.. read more

I'm leaving a review from my wife's Yelp acct. This doctor is nothing but a money making scheme. After a very expensive initial consultation with bloodwork, he will push his supplements onto you as if they're unique to your situation. I have walked though his office and seen people paying for the same exact supplements he has "prescribed" me. His appointments are rushed and make you feel like you're taking up his precious time. When I asked for my medical records, including blood work, his notes, "recommended"/prescribed medications, and tests, the staff start acting funny and start stumbling around. I wanted it for a second opinion. When I picked it up, it was missing his notes and supplements/medications. I don't think a second opinion is in his best interest. Don't let his "charming" personality fool you. He is a fast talking, money minded business man. Find treatment somewhere else. read more

You will have to look hard and possibly far , to find a better caring team led by a thoughtful skilled doctor who believes that integrative / functional medicine is all about your wellness to prevent illness . I have seen a lot of doctors in my lifetime, but this doctor takes the cake. Bottom line, all he really cares about is how much $$ can he extract from his patients. The first two reviewers are correct. This doctor is out for few bucks, and makes you take all these unnecessary tests, and sticks you with a fat bill. This doctor does a lot of talking in the beginning of the consultation ($250 cash only) to gather as much information as possible to determine what tests are needed to isolate the medical issue. He is just a slick talker who will make you take all theses expensive unnecessary tests to line his pocket book. I have already paid $1560 in medical bills with him, and the new bills keep on arriving at my house. You have been Warned! Best advice.....avoid! read more

Thorough and listens. He spends lots of time with me at each visit and asks questions that really make you think about the quality of your life, health, sleep. When something isn't optimal he figures out why! I don't just see him when I'm sick, but to stay well. I asked him to run allergy tests for me and he didn't hesitate. When I found I had multiple food allergies he helped me to nearly eliminate them. Now we're working on my environmental allergies. I feel like I'm in great hands. Dr Daya Is a cut above the rest. Not your typical dr. And THANK GOD! He thinks outside the box and cares about helping you ~ help yourself. He honors the patients intuition and self referral. The only Dr I know that recommends diet changes over drugs. And deeply values a mediation practice and a stress-less lifestyle. read more

Dr. Daya has been my internist, and my husband's, for 15 years. When we moved to the area we saw a number of doctors before settling on Dr. Daya. There are many reasons why we chose and have continued to go to Dr. Daya for so many years. It's a shame that two people disgruntled about billing would use Yelp to try to tarnish the reputation of a great doctor, especially with ridiculous claims of outrageous fees, which I know are not true. I have gone to doctors whose billing practices really are shoddy and reprehensible. I've always found Dr. Daya's billing department to be accessible, friendly and very accommodating. They've bent over backwards to work with me over the years. I find his fees to be standard and reasonable for internal medicine practices in this community. Dr. Daya is an enthusiastic, high energy practitioner, while at the same time presenting a calm and reassuring attitude and demeanor. I always feel better just being with him and talking to him, and getting a hug if I need one. His practice is unique in that he practices conventional western medicine with an integrative and holistic approach. As medicine changes so rapidly, we've always found Dr. Daya to be an excellent resource to coach us on the latest and most current research and developments. At the same time, if we find something new and interesting to bring to him, he's always open to review and discuss. The office staff: Devy, Patty and Jennifer, and Dr. Daya's nurses: Danielle and Jessica, are warm, friendly and professional. They are definitely a cut or two above most front office medical personal we encounter in this community. They recognize my voice when I call; they accommodate schedule changes. They fax test results and always follow up to call back and respond to our needs or questions with a positive and supportive attitude. This is definitely not the case with many other doctor's offices. After all these years we feel Dr. Daya really knows us and cares about us. We have many choices of internists in this area. I find Dr. Daya to be very knowledgeable and interested in me as a person, not just another body passing through his office. He combines his traditional western medical approach with a holistic background, and is very thorough in his treatment program. I went to Dr. Daya the first time in 2005. I was early 30's and needed a change of lifestyle. I got very lucky when I randomly picked his name from the list provided by my insurance. That first meeting lasted over an hour. He gave me a lot more than medical advice. is words "nothing you have done can not be fixed" resonates with me still today. I followed his advice and greatly improved my overall health. I have seen him on a semi regular basis ever since....as have my parents and some of my friends. My children will see him when they outgrow their pediatrician. He is an honest, no bullshit, caring man. read more
