We hosted our ten year old daughter's birthday party at CAP and it was one of my favorite birthday…read moreparties to date. The staff kept the kids engaged and busy. Getting to tour the facility and interact with animals was so much fun! Then they brought animals into the room for the kids to play with more. The activities were fun and they were genuinely happy to have the kids there. Very highly recommend a birthday party here!

This is NOT a place to help your animals. If you are trying to surrender, protect, help, medicate, train, or just given up on an animal then search online for help from individuals and groups that are willing to assist. EVERY ANIMAL SHELTER IS A KILL SHELTER IN HOUSTON!! You have to find an advocacy group or organization that will provide support and help you find a home. If you bring any animal with any condition they will be euthanized. These businesses are businesses. Non-profit is a ploy for tax and grant purposes in EVERY company that claims this. Non profit businesses (traditional) have only volunteers and not employees who usually do not have a storefront location. To have these cost money. From churches to goodwill to animal shelters; they are there to make money. Don't let someone lie to you and make you believe differently. They have a function. Sometimes these entities can provide a service, but rarely do they provide services that are beneficial to you. Groups and organizations are made of individuals who are not paid helping people with their needs. Not all of these are helpful either. Some can be but you have to do your research.

This shelter is a joke and they do not care about finding good homes for pets in need. I attended…read morethe 73rd Houston Cat Club Charity Cat Show on 01/11/26 with a family member who was interested in adopting one of the rescue cats that HOPE had onsite at the show. We went to the show specifically so she could adopt a cat. The disrespect I received from HOPE staff was unreal. I have never been insulted or talked down to the way your staff talked to me. We were interested in adopting Maverick. We asked if he was an "Indoor or outdoor cat?" - out of curiosity and learning about him. Because we "dared" asked that, the entire staff immediately decided we wouldn't be able to offer him a good home (for whatever reason). This is even after my family member filled out an application and voiced that it's no worries, she would keep him inside. They talked down to us and were extremely ageist. They said she was too old to adopt on her own and would need a "back up" applicant. I offered to be that for her. I have a house and two cats of my own. I was then questioned about my age and being "too young." Mind you I'm 32 years old. They dodged us multiple times when we attempted to turn in the application and move forward with the adoption process. We probably wasted about 30 minutes just standing around waiting for an answer. Finally they send someone over to tell us that she's not approved to adopt Maverick. There's no way every single adoptee at that show is able to be fully vetted on their intentions with the cats. To be told that we're basically not capable of providing a cat a good home is laughable. Their staff was insufferable and extremely rude. There was no organization or communication. I do not recommend spending your time trying to adopt a pet from them.

HORRIBLE!! You pay a $100 adoption fee which is already high, then the animal is NOT properly…read morevetted. My kitten had multiple worms infested in her not just tape worm, she was infested with fleas, her microchip CAME OUT and she had a bad skin infection, she had an upper respiratory infection AND DAMAGE TO HER NOSE that caused her to bleed out of her nose and not be able to breath!!!! They LIE to you at the adoption all this stuff to vet them was done but they do NOT do the boosters that the cat should get on their vaccines, so you have to redo them all. They do NOT do the rabbies so you have to do it. All they did was give a topical treatment which was NOT even the right dosage for her!! Now thousands of dollars later, she still has to see the vet because they did not properly vet her and the foster that had did not take care of her and had apparently beat her to cause nose damage. She was also 2 lbs UNDER WEIGHT!!! DO NOT ADOPT HERE. Get one off the streets you will be better off.

I'm from Dallas visiting Houston and wanted to take my two year old here since she's been showing…read morean interest in cats. I love the concept and idea of a safe place for cats and us being able to play with them so we decided to take time out of our morning to check this place out. The cats were friendly, mainly sleeping but it was well maintained and looked like a clean and safe environment for the cats. The reason for my low review is due to the way the business is handling a refund which I thought would be simple and is based on a confusion with their staff members. Online, it states a reservation needs to be made so while reading the rules, we made a reservation. I signed the waiver for myself and my 2 kids and walked in first. I saw they had a 30% military discount and asked if I could get a refund and repurchase. I was told she couldn't refund but since it didn't apply online, I would be able to email them and request for the difference back. Ok, no big deal. I paid for the second adult in store since now I know, we get military discount. Fast forward, I email and they refuse to give a refund. They said online, they can't verify that we qualify for the discount which is why we can only get the discount in store. I find it extremely rude for them to continue to emphasize that discounts are not applicable to online reservation since their system can't verify it when they could just simply ask for us to send through email our ID to get the price difference back like many other businesses would. I could also send the receipt showing where they did already verify us in store and where the discount is applied in store. The employee told me I would be able to request a refund and if I can prove my eligibility, I feel like they should honor it. They did offer a complimentary visit but again, I'm from Dallas so with this bad experience, I'm not enticed to return or recommend this place.
