I love their vet services! I take my two dogs and one cat there to get their shots. One of my dogs was spayed there and my cat recently had dental work at Animal Samaritans. The shots are done on a walk-in basis and are a good value. The staff is caring and knowledgeable. They treat my pets like their own. The waiting room gets very busy and you're liable to wait a while, though, so be prepared for that and bring your patience with you. I also like that they are connected with a shelter (not on location) and the money spent at the vet clinic goes to a good, local cause not a faceless corporation. read more

This is my update to the response to the clinical manager who addressed my first review. I am appalled and insulted by your absolute dishonesty in discussing things (our care with Dr. Ko prior to Animal Samaritans) you know nothing about. If Dr. Ko claimed she called us that is absolutely not true.When Dr. Ko abandoned our dog, she and her staff NEVER CALLED US TO SAY SHE LEFT OR WHAT WE SHOULD DO. We had been told initially she was taking a personal leave and did not find out she left for good until WE called back a week or 2 later. We in fact did make an appointment in Upland but it took several weeks before we could get in so spare me the BS about us "ignoring" the recommendation. Also spare me the "consciously" chose to ignore sedation instructions We went with our discussion with Dr. Ko AND the instructions on the bottle! As it was, she slept the entire day so she was adequately sedated. You neglect to mention we were asked to sign the "updated" estimate of $1900 AFTER our dog was already sedated and brought back. When Dr. Ko decided not to do the procedure, she did not have the common decency to discuss this with us. I presume this was due to the embarrassment of not being able to fulfill her pricing promise.Am I angry? Absolutely. I think anybody would be due to the amount of time and money we wasted before finding compassionate help. So please don't comment on matters you know nothing of. The holier than thou speech is cute but does not make up for how things played out. The procedure done by the vet in Upland took about 5-10 minutes and did NOT require sedation. I stand by my original review. Perhaps you should look at other reviews, as I am not the only person with a negative experience. read more

Note: Review based on lack of customer service. Trying to make an appointment here over the phone or online is IMPOSSIBLE. The only way that you can schedule an appointment is if you are actually at the facility in person. Not once have they answered the phone when I've tried calling. Immunizations are done on a walk-in basis, appointments are needed for anything else. Tried making appointments for my dogs to get spayed, but to no avail. Guess I'll try going out of my way and stopping by there to make an appointment. Aside from that, their veterinary services are great and I wouldn't go anywhere else. When you ask her questions about services, she talks to you like you're stupid and should already know the answer. Went in for rabies shot. Ask if it was a long wait. Clerk said they are very efficient. Said I would wait outside--did not want to bring my dog in because it was very crowded. Clerk replied she would call me. Waited 40 minutes--walking in side noticed sign on door said lunch at 11:50 to 1:00. Went inside asked clerk when will dog be seen she replied it is lunch come back at 12:50 to check in. Wow it would have been a better experience if she would have told me in the first place that they would not get to me until 1:00. What a waste my of time. read more

IF I COULD GIVE YOU ZERO STARS I WOULD I brought my Jack Russell terrier Riley into your facility about a year ago for his second set of shots the same day I brought him in that very night she fell very ill with what seem to be parvo. I just recently called Animal Samaritans, because I need a health certificate to go to Mexico. Well, when I arrived to Mexico Customs, I was stopped because my certified did not my pet had been okey by the doctor for parasites if Animal Samaritans were to go to any Mexico customs page online it states clearly the following: Within 6 months of entering Mexico, your dog or cat must have be treated against internal and external parasites by a licensed veterinarian and the products used must be reflected on the health certificate. Cats and dogs must have treatments for ticks shortly prior to entering the country. Tick-borne infections such as ehrlichiosis are not unusual in the country, so it is wise to protect your pet. So, I was detained for hours with a dog that had been in a. carrier too long and now I had to deal with this situation. I expect veterinarians to do their research, that's what I'm paying for. When I called , the girl told me it's my job to include this on a signed form. Very disappointed read more

My experience with Animals Samaritans was the most awesome vet experience I have ever had! I, too, drove from San Diego to 1000 Palms to go to this very special clinic for one of my 8 year old beagles that had a mass growing under her right arm that was about 3 lbs by the time she had surgery on July 31, 2014. I was a little startled with my dogs experience of the clinic; she seemed calm and content when we went for our consultation with Dr. R. - to the point she lay down on the metal exam table and tried to settle in for a nap! This has not been a "common" vet experience to say the least! My consultation with the doc was honest and reasonable. He patiently answered all my questions regarding pain, recovery, and travel expectations. The estimate we received for the surgery was 50% less than what vets wanted to charge us in Escondido We came back 2 days later for her surgery (I have family in the area so this was not a big deal for me or Gracie -the dog - to stay over another day). I dropped her off at 9am and picked her up around 4:30pm. The tech was extremely thorough - going over all of the post-op instructions and medications. She calmly wrapped Gracie in a blanket and brought her out to the car with me. We then proceeded to make the 100 mile trek back home to SD. I brought her back the following Tuesday to have the vet assess her recovery process since she pulled out her 2 drains by then. I was treated promptly and courteously by everyone in the facility and can't imagine going anywhere else for vet services than Animal Samaritans. I have never experienced such kind and professional care for my dog. I took my dog in for dental extractions and a month later another abscess appeared,the Dr. rechecked him,gave him antibiotics to see if that would cure the problem. It didn't solve the problem so the did the surgery again (it was a different tooth) and did not charge me! I took my cat to the Thousand Palms location yesterday (10/26) to get her a rabies shot and her FVRCP shot. When the tech that gave the shots administered the rabies vaccine she got about half of it in my cat and half on the table. The tech then administered a new rabies vaccine with the whole dose. When I got my cat home she was lethargic and throwing up multiple times which is NOT like her at all. I tried calling the clinic back about over dozen times but could not get through. I then had to take my cat to another vet to have her treated, which cost me over $100. Not once was I told to keep an eye out for any possible symptoms because of the extra rabies injection or because of the injections period. I will never be going back to Animal Samaritans. read more

I spoke to Martha, a receptionist at Animal Samaritans, who was very attentive and provided me with a lot of information regarding vet services and prices. She was extremely professional, very nice, and answered all of my questions. It took a while to register all of my dogs and Martha did a great job! read more

Would NOT recommend Animal Samaritans. Treated as a number, doctors rotate so you never know WHO you might see. Medication prescribed nearly killed my dog. Administration not very well organized, when asked to speak to office manager, refused to speak to me. Upon writing a letter to the Chief Administrator, was told I was no longer their client and that I should seek service elsewhere. I DID and received MUCH better care at BANNING VETERINARY HOSPITAL 951.849.3864 YES, a drive for me from Palm Desert, but well worth it to have caring doctors, friendly staff, better value, well-run offices and nicer facilities. I am 110% happy with my experience with Animal Samaritans. My cat was having some real issues vomiting several times a day and night. I was quite concerned and called to make an appointment for her. I was told there was no availability for se real weeks but if there was a cancellation they would call me and suggested I call VCA Indio if I needed urgent care. I did call urgent care and was told that even if I went there would be at least a 4 hour wait to be seen and I would probably be referred back to my "primary cate" vet. I opted to wait until the next morning when perhaps the wait time would be less. About an hour later I got a call from Animal Samaritans that they had a cancellation two days later, and I took it. Shortly thereafter I got another call that after reviewing the symptoms I had described they felt it best to bring her in the next morning. Amazing! Fortunately the car was feeling much better the next day but I took her in anyway. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The doctor did an examination and gave me some medication that should help bring up any hairballs that might be lurking in her system. Other than that, everything seemed to be OK with her. I just can't say enough about how helpful and friendly Animal Samaritans is. They also told me they were starting an urgent care clinic if I needed another emergency type visit. Good to know. Hopefully I won't need it however. read more

I found my ESA (emotional support animal) baby here. I am mostly concerned with how they handle the animals, and being a huge animal lover I feel content with the environment they are in, though I do wish the dogs had more comfort in their cages, such as soft bedding. I adopted my dog Bowser here for a great price, including the charge for being neutered and vaccinated. He was handed over to me in great health. The staff is friendly and was very proactive in the entire process. They have also accepted stray cats from me on multiple occasions. read more

Just be aware/cautious. I came here to get my dog microchipped and vaccinated. I chose this location for the close location, convenience and cost. Vaccinations are a walk in basis, I waited an hour due to clerical error. The only reason I was seen sooner rather than later (one hour wait) was because I asked Linda, who was standing nearby, about microchipping. She had me fill out a form and called me within 10 mins, she asked if microchipping was all I was in for, I responded no, I had been waiting near an hour for a rabies vaccine. It was very obvious I shouldn't have waited that long based on volume that day and she confirmed my suspicion. The front desk didn't properly process my paper work which resulted in the wait. It all made sense why the busy waiting area cleared in the hour, and I was left waiting. Had I not inquired on microchipping, I'm afraid I would have been left there waiting much longer. This was my first time there..I just didn't want to come off as an impatient patron. Linda, is the only reason my rating is 4 stars. I think the name Animal Samaritans is a little misleading. They are only slightly less expensive then other vets in the area and still require unnecessary tests that are costly. If you want a low cost facility go to Loma Linda Animal Hospital in San Bernardino.....little bit of a drive but it will save you LOTS of $$. read more
