Good food for a food truck and they were being prepared fresh as I was waiting for my order. Overall my favorites were, samosa, tandoori chicken and naan. Aaloo Gobi (potato with cauliflower) was good but a bit oily for my taste. Lamb curry was a bit salty as well but overall good flavors and better than other Indian restaurants in bend area. They were friendly and the food was ready in no time. It is also reasonably priced. I'm looking forward to trying out the breakfast items to complete this review. Update- Definitely the best Indian food in Bend and freshly cooked. I tried the chole bhatura (chickpeas and one type of fried bread and it was really good) I can say the same about aaloo and Gobi paratha (potato paratha and cauliflower paratha), both were great breakfast/brunch option for me on a rainy day. read more

We have meaning to try Anita's ever since moving back to Bend. Tonight we finally did. Oh my gosh, we have been missing out for so long. Everything was bursting with flavor, and transported the 10 minutes home very successfully. The highlights were the lamb curry, tandoori chicken and the dal makhani. Today was my daughter's birthday dinner. She wanted dinner from Anita's, so I checked that they were open and then we placed the order for 5 family members. The order went through just fine, and then when another daughter went to pick it up ... THEY WERE CLOSED! I'll spare you how I reacted to this. It totally screwed up our dinner and evening. This is amateurish and unprofessional. If you are going to be closed ... SAY SO and don't accept orders! Wanted to love this new Indian spot but sadly we couldn't. 1 piece of naan for $4? Really? Outrageously overpriced. Lamb curry was delicious but butter chicken was seriously lacking any flavor. Pakoras we're soggy but good - think it was the result of putting on the Togo lid too soon. Raita, fine but not awesome. Their rice with peas is the move. My sweetheart and I are in Bend for the night, headed to Sacramento from Canada... stopped at a local hotel and this gem was in the parking lot!!! The maestro is lovely and friendly, and the food is some of the best Indian food I've ever had! The samosas were melt-in-your-mouth tasty, the butter chicken creamy and flavorful, the naan bread perfectly spiced, and the chai, the chai! Sweet, creamy and perfectly spiced. I'd consider moving to Bend just to be able to eat here again and again! I wish we'd had room in our tummies to try the tikka masala, the tandoori chicken and about ten other things on the menu, but we'll have to wait until our next road trip to do so. Absolutely the best Indian food I've ever had. Excellent flavors!!! When we showed up to get a takeout dinner, 3 guys were in the food truck cooking up something that smelled yummy. Very fresh. Very much like homemade. I ordered 3x more food than we needed just to try several dishes. All were excellent. Note that none of the dishes were mild on the spice. The naan was sooo good. This place was absolutely amazing. We booked our airbnb on the wrong dates for Thanksgiving. Very vintage move of mine. So we ended up at the Hampton inn with no way to cook the meal we had planned. Looking for something open I assumed we'd be stuck with a very subpar meal to settle for. Well thanks to Anita's I was so very wrong. I'm mad I didn't take pictures but I barreled through it at lightning speed. The butter chicken was incredible. And came with a kick of spice thank God. I feel like some ppl have one note butter chicken that just tastes like cream and butter. This was a symphony of flavor and spice. Garlic Naan is a must as well. Holeeee crow! What a find! Turns out our motel, Cascade Lodge, had dinner for us too! As we got out of the car to check in, the smell of this tiny food truck blew us away. What an outstanding dinner we had. Seriously delicious Indian food here, folks! We each had Anita's Kitchen Platter ( only $22) which included choice of appetizer, we picked tandoori chicken leg, two entrees, we picked curry chicken and butter chicken. Also came with rice, Naan bread, and a choice of dessert! Probably the best Indian food I've had in a while. Many people were stopping by for orders to pick up, but what a treat for us to not have to drive anywhere after a long trip to get here. Must try people! read more

Food is Light. As in light sauce. Not heavy yummy spiced sauce you normally get. Food is over priced, and the portions are SMALL for the price. Friendly owners. Good tasted okay to eat. Wow. Hands down the worst Indian food I've ever had, by a massive margin. Ordered the Tikka Masala and didn't even take more than a bite. The other Indian place in town is also not great, but in comparison it's Michelin guide worthy. That's how horrible it was. Literally they could have just take Trader Joe's tikka sauce, heated that up in a microwave, and it still would be better than this. It's not even curry, it was the consistency of chicken stock. I had low expectations since it's Bend and the food is generally mid here, but man that was honestly insulting and disrespectful to the entirety of India. read more

Just tried Anita's first time. So disappointed! Chicken Tikka Masala was not flavorful, it was basically white chicken meat in broth. The vegetable pakoras were not fresh, had awful flavor and were soft, not crispy and light. The Naan also wasn't fresh and soft, it was leathery and the edges were tough to chew. All in all a very bad experience, will not be going back nor will I be recommending. read more

Anita was very nice and made amazing food. She chatted with us a bit about similar foods in Guyana, South America (Where there's a mix of several foods from India, Africa, and the Caribbean). I was pretty excited to finally have another Indian food place because we're not fans of the only other restaurant here in town. Well both times we went, I can conclude that customer service is not their strong suit (which is not too surprising).. but the lady, Anita I'm guessing, is not very nice. Anytime I try to order, I feel like she's confronting me or something like "what do you want?" So I feel under pressure or like I'm a burden or something LOL. Anyway, the food is only okay to me. Indian food is my ultimate favorite and sad to say none here in Bend compare to Indian food I've had in California or even Seattle. Also the second time I visited, Anita had me 'try the chicken' to see if it was "ready/cooked/done". I mean 1) I burnt my tongue, 2) what if it wasn't done and I just ate some raw chicken? This "food truck" is more of a small structure set in the front of Cascade Lodge. The two times I've been there the man brought out the food from what I assume is the lodge owner's home. I am curious what the kitchen looks like, how clean it is. Their Aloo paratha is definitely authentic and delicious. Honestly the best I've had. It has fresh herbs and spices and were delicious both times. I've tried the Gobi Aloo as well, and it was ok, as the cauliflower had big chunks of stalk instead of just the heads, and it was a bit greasy, but overall decent. The samosas were questionable as to how fresh they were. The outer puff pastry was freshly fried, but the inside filling was slightly grey in color, which makes me think the mixture sat out for a while before getting made into samosa. I am excited there is another option for Indian food in Bend, but unsure of consistency in freshness and it would be nice to know if the kitchen is certified. read more
