Extremely unreliable company. Go elsewhere unless you want to take off work and wait around for a company that consistently no shows. They no show or show up outside the window almost every time without a doubt. Most of the time they show up outside the window and then can't even complete the service request that day (something simple like broken glass that they've known about for a month) and end up having to reschedule for another day and then, again, show up late or not at all. Safety & Security.....We placed our order in April for 4 new garage doors for a new build. Can't get a straight answer from them on if they were ever ordered. Never got an order form or receipt of order. Finally got a project code from someone and were told they "arrived". Just when we thought we had progress..... Scheduled an install with the install crew who then said they have to now "check" on something. Left several messages including with the GM and still can't get a straight answer or call back. Now the snow is here, temps are dropping in the teens, we've been waiting 7 months for an honest answer. Please just install our doors so we can have a secure and safe home. read more

I had them come out and give me a quote on garage doors. They were large doors a total of four 18x9 full view and they gave me a quote of 53,000, I went through Costco who had a dealer that carry the exact same doors hardware installation etc. for 38,000. I understand markup but yikes. Thank you for responding. As you know Costco is a large entity and they partner with a very large garage door company that has been in business for 30 years nationally. I completely understand it and as you they have major overhead the price difference is still absolutely scary i'm sure they're buying power is much greater and they are also one of the largest dealers for this garage door product we choose. I'm not saying sometimes you won't be competitive but encourage others to get more than one bid. read more

Summary: Late, mistakes in scheduling, poor customer service and my garage door keeps breaking in the same way, so didn't even fix the original problem. Won't be using them again. Details: I only called them because their number is on the back of the door, so I thought they would likely be the most familiar with our unit. It's never convenient when your garage door breaks and your car is trapped inside, but didn't feel like it was truly an emergency for us and didn't see a need to pay the extra for "emergency" service. So we were scheduled for a couple days out, which wasn't too bad. They schedule in 4 hour windows, and I rearranged my day to be available and then they were late. Annoying, but it happens, so I rolled with it. They "fixed" the door and were on their way. (Our first technician was very nice and professional I should mention, other than being late). The door broke again within 24 hours, I think we only used it 3 or 4 times since it was fixed. Called and they weren't able to get us scheduled again for several days out. Annoying, but what can you do? Came and "fixed" the door again. I thought it would be helpful to have the same tech again, since he would know what he did and maybe try something different next time, but someone different came, did the same fix. It broke again in the same way 2 days later. Called again, again they could only schedule us in a few days. I asked if they could find a way to schedule us sooner, since the situation is getting more frustrating and I've already rearranged 2 days to accommodate their schedule to fix a problem that should already have been fixed. Nope, they can't. Not even a sorry, or anything, just a hard nope. Fine, I booked the soonest appointment available. 3 days later (Saturday), after rearranging my day again, the schedule window came and went. I called about 45 minutes after the window closed to inquire and was informed there was a scheduling error, and I was actually booked for Monday, not Saturday. Again, I asked if there was any way for them to come sooner, because this is getting really frustrating. Nope. So, I still have a broken garage, after 2 visits and 3 shot days waiting around for them and still have to wait several more days for them to come back out, and take more time off of work to be around and I am fully expecting the "fix" not to last again. I'm stuck because I don't really want to use them again, but I've already paid to have my door fixed, I'd like it to actually be fixed without having to pay double to hire someone else to do it right. I understand the realities of business right now, everyone is short staffed. And I understand that sometimes certain problems are harder to fix and may require a couple attempts. But I don't appreciate when my time is not respected, especially when I am the one paying for a service, and I am disappointed in the lack of customer service. How about getting someone out right away without charging a fee for emergency service when you failed to fix the problem the first *two* times? Even a little, "I'm so sorry this keeps happening" would go a long way. But nope. read more

I have used Ankmar for more than 20 years. They however, are no longer the company they once were. I schedule a service call and they provided a four hour window. I was home waiting for them, but they never showed up. Since they had served me well in the past and sympathetic to labor issues, I assumed the technician got held up, short staff, etc. I called Ankmar and left a message to reschedule my appt since they failed to show up. I have not received a return call, however, I did get an email asking me to rate their service. I completed the survey, providing poor marks in all categories since they did not show up nor return my call. After I hit the send button, I got an automatic response saying they were sorry I did not have a good experience with Ankmar (I had no experience with Ankmar) and they promised someone would call me the next day to discuss. In keeping with their lousy service, no one ever called me as promised. I asssume the company has been sold and the new owners don't give a crap about customers and customer service. Do not waste your time with Ankmar, they suck. Find another garage door service company and avoid Ankmar at all cost. read more

I own a commercial warehouse building and I needed the dock door fixed and a new opener installed and some general maintenance on the door seals. I called them and asked for an estimate. I gave them a specific date and time, and they agreed. They showed up on the wrong day. Then the right day and the wrong time. I live hours away from this building, so their calls saying "where are you?" should have given me a clue about their service. They then had the guts to send me a "not a bill" invoice for the time that their people sat in the parking lot waiting. The dispatcher blamed the crew, the crew blamed the dispatcher. I waited three weeks and had to ask over and over for the quote. Once I got it, I was asked to pay half up front, which I did because by that time I really needed the work done. Now almost a month later I am still waiting for them to schedule the work. Commercial doors are VERY expensive and this company is holding over $5K of my money hostage while they do nothing. I can't lease the building until the door is fixed, so they are costing a lot of money while doing nothing. I can hardly wait for the next lame excuse. So, Ankmar, will you be posting or sending me yet another lame apology and doing nothing to resolve your customer service issues? How about you just return my deposit so I can find a legitimate company that really wants to do the work? My suggestion to anyone reading this is to take your business elsewhere. read more

I got an appointment and someone showed up gave me an estimate of $360 just to tell me that they don't have the parts in stock . Two days later they returned and fix my garage for my springs and a new guy showed up so I asked him how much is it . He quoted $418. I asked.him how did the price go up ? My garage door was malfunctioning (as in, it closed and refused to fully open), and after a bit of research, I called Ankmar for the repair. I am very pleased with their service for the following reasons: 1) Prompt scheduling 2) Confirmation phone call before they arrived, with an accurate ETA 3) Both repairmen introduced themselves 4) They assessed the problem quickly and decided what needed to be done 5) During the repair, they explained to me what was wrong and even showed me the faulty part that had to be replaced (explaining WHY it was faulty) 6) Nice summary and overview at the end It was my lucky day, since they happened to have the parts on them to do the repair. They were polite, professional, and good natured. The lead repairman was Larry, and he was a very nice and friendly guy. There was no way our opener was going to work after it just started smoking. The motor burned out. After getting quotes from several other providers of garage door openers (at least the ones that called back, or even answered their phone). We got the install scheduled for the next business day. Steve was our tech. He was polite, thorough, knowledgeable. He took the time to explain what he was going to do. Once he was done (less than an hour to replace the motor and chain), he had lubed all our joints/rollers/springs, he took the time to explain every facet of what he installed (remotes, wireless keypad, etc), he also explained how to best maintain my new product. He seemed to appreciate my interest and genuine desire to take care of my stuff. He was able to answer every question I had. The amount quoted is the amount you pay. No surprises. read more

our Liftmaster garage door opener was originally installed by Ankmar Doors and we've had torsion rings replaced and a few repairs over the years but just recent had it stop opening. we waited two days for a tech to come out and he said it was a circuit board but he didn't have the part with him - we waited another two days and he comes back replaces the board and it still doesn't work said he'd have to send a supervisor to trouble shoot as he didn't know what it could be. New guy comes today doesn't have the right part says he will have to order and a four week time frame. We say thanks but if This company can't figure it out after three visits we will go elsewhere. Husband got online, found the part (at half the price they are charging) available for shipment tge next day. I have been a customer of Ankmar for 30 years and have used them for new garage doors, repairs, replacements and new openers. Under the former family ownership this business was the BEST in the Denver area. Sadly, under current corporate ownership the only improvement has been to their website and their highly touted, self-aggrandizing, claim of offering exceptional customer service and satisfaction. However, that's as far as it goes in terms of quality customer service. They are actually HORRIBLE at customer service and evidence an attitude of "we couldn't really care less about your issues that is actually just an intrusion on our work day." I paid off my balance due on 2 new garage doors weeks before the installation was scheduled and it took me 4 phone calls to get a receipt for my payment so I could close on the sale of the house. No manager would return my calls after a left a voice mail, no customer service rep could get the issue resolved and no one seemed to care. I finally (on 4th call) got a receptionist who said, "I'm sorry for our terrible service on this, and I think I can help you." In 7 minutes she had the issue resolved and emailed me the receipt. At least one person in this terrible company cares about the customer. I'lol NEVER use Ankmar again. Every company can claim to offer 5-star customer service until a problem or issue develops and then they prove their claim is only talk. Sadly, that is the case with Ankmar now as a corporate owned business. Be forewarned if you do business with this terrible company. Although their sales and products are satisfactory, there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE if you have a problem or issue!! read more

One year ago I subscribed to Ankmar's program for a yearly tune-up for the garage door. One of the springs on our garage door broke just as we were leaving for vacation. We scheduled the repair for one week later when we returned. Ankmar said they would be here between 10 AM and 2 PM. They called early in the morning and said they would arrive closer to 2 PM. No one called or arrived by 3:30 PM and when we called all I could get was, "that I was next". We were left with the feeling they have all the business they need and losing or mistreating a customer is no big deal. This was particularly aggravating given we are on there yearly program. No problem as they advertise they are open 24/7 and have emergency service 24/7. What they don't tell you is that they charge $175/hour with a 2 hour minimum!!!! Feel cheated. I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for replacing two garage doors and two garage door openers. At the time I scheduled appointment I was not told about a trip fee of $65. And trip charge is not customary for getting an estimate because two other companies that visited my house didn't charge me trip fee to give an estimate. I decided not to hire them even though $65 would have being refunded had I hired them and their estimate was same as one other company. I thought I was ambushed me into paying the trip fee. I think this how they operate. Yes! may not have called them had they told me about trip fee. So they decide to not tell me about trip fee. The companies that gave estimate without trip fee have higher online rating than this company. So its not like companies with poor ratings are not charging trip fee for estimate. read more

Had them replace a single car door with an opener. I was given a Ryobi opener for my shop for Christmas, which I had them install. No problem at all with the new door and opener, but the Ryobi was a different story! Right after the installer left, the door pad wouldn't work! After a few calls back and forth, they sent a tech out a couple days later. He was able to figure out the problem and get it to work! Overall, I am pleased with them and you will be too! read more

Called Ankmar (after a couple of other estimates) and thought I'd have to replace my aging double garage door. It is slightly warped and making horrible sounds. It also felt and sounded like a major earthquake in the entire house every time it opened or closed. Larry (service rep) came out same day and said (after thorough inspection) that the door has about 3-5 more years of life before it actually has to be replaced. He thoroughly cleaned and lubricated everything for the garage opener and checked all the likely culprits (loose parts, plastic on light cover, etc) and found that everything was in proper working order even though the motor was increasingly noisy. I was ecstatic that we didn't need a door right away, so I asked whether a different opener would be quieter and/or require less maintenance. He recommended a couple of different belt drives. I chose the one with battery backup and he had it installed and me trained and everything cleaned up within a little over an hour. Larry was SO professional and informative and I am so happy with the service and the new opener that when we DO have to get that new door I will call Ankmar again. read more

Ankmra had installed our door (and that of several hundred neighbors in Green Valley Ranch) 8 years ago. Though our model door has been discontinued, they had parts in stock to replace the broken panel. They did a great (and quick) job. Very professional. Did a tune-up at the same time and gave clear instructions on owner maintenance. The door is quieter than ever and works like a charm. So I called and got three companies to come out and look into putting up a garage door in an old garage circa 1950's. I got a great experience from Don's Garage Door in the quoting process. The Ankmar salesman came out and took a look at the situation. The installation was a little past problematic. Don's originally sent a technician. He scheduled a more experienced technician to come out in the next week to double check his thinking and the quote. The Ankmar salesman said he'sd send me a quote. A few days later he called and asked if he could give my number to a technician to come out and take a look before giving me a quote. Ostensibly he gave that tech my number. I'm not sure because I never got a call to schedule that visit. I waited probably a week and a half and then called Don's to come do the work. It seemed like if the project was an easy standard job then Ankmar could handle it but anything beyond that and they backed out. So call someone else if you want someone who actually installs garage doors to come out and look at your job. Ankmar doesn't seem interested. read more
