Good shaved ice in the area! The visual presentation is pretty cute and the mangoes were actually pretty ripe and sweet, which I really appreciated. It is a bit pricey for its portion size, but definitely share with another person or two! The staff did say it would take 10-15 minutes for it to come out, which didn't seem like too much of a wait once we got seated. A good amount of seating inside, with one gender neutral bathroom which you need to ask the key for. read more

The Taiyaki is to a perfection! Crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The filling that I got was the custards, good amount of the sweetness custards. One of the best Taiyaki in the town. Not to mention the ice.. The place is at the corner of the building, cute little place but beware, young adult ( teens ) filled up the place and they can be super loud! read more

This is the hands down the best taiyaki I've ever had!! I'd say it's even better than the ones I've had in Korea. The outside is perfectly, fluffy, airy and crispy. The bean is so juicy and light. Wow, 100/10 a MUST try. Service was excellent she made this fresh on the spot. read more

FOOD: I wanted to try this spot after hearing such positive comments from those around me, but I found it just mediocre compared to other bingsoo places. - We shared the Mango ($12) flavor and was disappointed because there aren't very many mango chunks. Instead, there is just more mango syrup, plus our order wasn't layered very well so the bottom was just ice. I also didn't find the ice here as fluffy as other bingsoo spots, it was more compact which might be attributed to it being packed down in a smaller container. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: It's quite small inside, with limited tables. You usually have to wait for a spot to open up, but I don't think the bingsoo here is good enough to make me want to wait. The service isn't super efficient because of how small it is, but the staff are all very kind. OVERALL: There are other bingsoo locations that I would be okay with waiting in a line for, and unfortunately, Anko is not one of them for me. It's not bad, but not great. read more

We have hear great things about this shaved ice place and knew that we had to stop by here during our trip. We were warned in advance that the location was not in the best location but we called ahead to put in our orders since we were also told that there is usually a wait. Since we were getting the shaved ice after having AYCE KBBQ - we decided to get two shaved ice to share. We went with Milk and Mango. Everything came nicely packaged and both items came with a side of condense milk. The mango was pretty good but sadly I don't think that it was mango season because the mango pieces were super sour but the shaved ice itself was pretty tasty with the mango "sauce" poured over it. The Milk shaved ice was surprisingly good - it came with mochi and red bean on top with a condense milk sauce. It was very refreshing and not too sweet (we did not pour all the condense milk in; I believe we poured in about 1/2). The portion size as fairly large and definitely good for sharing. Overall - good bingsoo place and definitely recommend coming here. read more

This is probably my favorite place for shaved ice! They're generally pretty busy but they have a good amount of seating so if you wait a little bit you'll have a place to sit. It took about 20 mins or so to get the order. We ordered the black sesame, matcha, and grain shaved ice. The grain one was my favorite. The texture of the ice is soooo fluffy and I think the toppings added to it. Definitely would come back for a casual hang out spot w friends. read more

Sooo yummy. Anko is one of the best shaved ice spots in koreatown. The texture is a perfect consistency- fluffy but not flaky and flavorless. It reminded me of a smoothie because there was so much flavor in the ice and it didn't melt easily. We've tried the mango bingsu, strawberry bingsu, black sesame bingsu, and various taiyakis. The fruity flavors are my favorite because they totally encapsulate the flavor but are not too sweet. Black sesame shaved ice is a popular option as well because it has a strong flavor and isn't really sweet. My friends agree that sweetness is a big factor in determining good shaved ice. Taiyakis are made fresh to order and were incredible. My favorite is the custard taiyaki but my boyfriend recommends the cheese taiyaki- an odd combo but apparently really good. The decor is minimal and modern. There are plenty of tables, but you might have to wait around for one to open up on the weekend. The service was the only factor I wouldn't praise. I docked a star because I felt like they were a bit stand off-ish and not as polite as you would expect. But it's not a dealbreaker since you don't need to interact much other than when ordering. I definitely recommend Anko and I'm kinda craving it again already lol read more

Came for here for a late night dessert after kbbq and it was so good. The tayaki was my favorite. Each tayaki was pretty big and when I bit into it, it was still warm and crispy. The matcha bingsu was good too. It was not too sweet and it came with a side of red beans. The portions were big for the price and the interior of the place looked really nice and aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend. read more

If you don't want to commit to the massive serving sizes at other bingsu places, Anko is a happy medium. Can't go wrong with shaved ice, especially on hot days. They seem a little understaffed, and it was pretty full on Saturday afternoon, so it did take over 20 minutes to get our two orders. We tried the matcha and the strawberry bingsu, and I loved how milky the strawberry one was. Kind of wish they offered more toppings, even as a priced add on. Next time I'll definitely try the taiyaki too! Parking is a little difficult since it's street parking only. read more

We were searching for some refreshing dessert after a filling dinner and decided to check out this cafe because of their cute shaved ice We got both the strawberry and mango bingsu. The strawberry binsu was covered in this strawberry jam with sliced strawberries. The ice has condensed milk in it and the ice was so soft. It tasted like strawberry milk! Nice place to sit and enjoy shaved ice! We split the black sesame among the 3 of us. The wait was around 20 minutes after we ordered. Anko was pretty busy as we came on a Saturday night, but we were able to get a seat at a table after a few minutes. Shaved ice itself was yummy! The ice is definitely more on the finer/powdery side. Toppings were yummy - mochi, red bean, and nuts. A good size for sharing! It can be tricky to find parking but we were able to park on the street on the opposite side of the same block. read more

So perfectly soft and creamy! Came 5pm on a Saturday and there was no line, but a few minutes later the place filled up. It didn't take long for our bingsu to come :). I really liked the injeolmi ("grain") bingsu with the light condensed milk to pour on top. Along with the red bean topping for some added sweetness. The mochi was chewy and soft. I'd come back again for the same (and to try another flavor)! Just the thing I needed on a hot day. read more

Came here in a Wednesday night, it was a packed house. But people leave pretty quick after they finish their desert so that's a pro. We ordered the strawberry bingsoo and the custard taikyaki. Both were delicious and a great refreshing sweet treat. The baristas/servers were really attentive with all customers and got everything to us really quick even with the rush. The decor of this dessert place is modern and has plenty of chairs for people to sit and eat. However, you have to pay for valet parking if you want to park behind the store although it was only $4. I ordered the Black Sesame Anko which took quite a bit of time to come out but it was worth it. I love how much toppings they put in it, especially when they put it inside of the Anko instead of just on top so you wouldn't just be left with the ice at the bottom. The sesame flavor was just good enough that it wasn't overpowering and I love how it wasn't too sweet and rather refreshing. read more

Only second time here but I really enjoyed it. Had the strawberry and the grains shaved iced in my recent visit and both were delicious. The strawberry was so pretty~~ The grains was the best I've had and I've tried many other places. Reason why I cant give it 5 stars is that we had to wait half hr for our order and parking is a nightmare which is normal in ktown. Wish they had some seating outside too. We did have to valet park in the plaza which is $3. There is street parking but its difficult and time consuming. Good luck read more

Anko is my absolute favorite shaved ice store in Koreatown -- they have both traditional and modern korean-inspired flavors, and the shaved ice is all well-made. The staff at Anko have truly perfected their craft, as the ice is creamy, smooth, and never too watered down or too sweet. There are a decent amount of seats indoors to sit and chat while you wait for your order to be made -- the interior is beautiful and modern. The wait time can be longer when it's busy, but it's so worth it. I always get the Black Sesame Bingsoo, and the sesame flavor is very prominent but not bitter at all. It comes with soft and Q mochi pieces on top, and there's sweetened red bean both on top and inside the shaved ice. Looking forward to returning to try their bungeo-ppang and pumpkin bingsoo (heard so many good things about that one)! read more

Been here a couple times and they have solid bingsu/Korean shaved ice here. Got the pumpkin and injeolmi before, but tried out the mango bingsu since it's a summer classic. The portions are perfect to share between ~2 people I'd say. Sweet and refreshing, with little mango bits on top and inside the ice, and the texture is so soft. Hubby and I came here after dinner and decided to get the strawberry shaved and the taiyaki. STRAWBERRY SHAVED ICE - The shaved ice was very soft and just melts in your mouth. It is a milk based shaved ice and comes with strawberry puree and fruits. Plus, they give a side of condensed milk. The strawberry puree was amazing and wasn't too sweet. I love that they put some puree and fruit in the middle of the dessert. Not a lot of places do that. One of the best shaved I've I have had. TAIYAKI- We can get up to 2 flavors, so we got the custard & Nutella and bananas. I usually love custard, but I didn't like the one here. It was so eggy taste and wasn't a fond of this one. I never had a bad custard before till today. But the Nutella and banana were so good. I would definitely get it all on this flavor next time I'm here. The texture of the taiyaki is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just like other taiyaki had. You can sit inside to dine but ask for vaccination. After ordering and if you are dining in, they bring your dessert to the table which was nice. Overall, a great dessert place if you are around the plaza, after a nice meal. read more

We got the taiyaki and they were made to order so they came out crispy and hot. We got the Nutella and banana and red bean. Both flavors were good and we were pleasantly surprised there's actual banana slices in the Nutella and banana one. The taiyakis come in a basket of 4 and you can only choose 2 different flavors. We didn't try the shaved ice but it looked really good. They have plenty of tables and chairs for you to enjoy their desserts. The interior is nice and welcoming. Street parking or valet. read more

Came here on a Thursday evening right after dinner and the place was a bit busy, but we were lucky enough to grab a table after ordering our dessert. It came out relatively quickly and the person working was super nice - definitely great service! The dessert itself was pretty good. Their desserts are layered well with flavor and look great upon presentation as well. I love mango so it really hit the spot - it was also big enough to share for 3 people which was great! We left feeling super satisfied and happy. I will say that the place got pretty busy as we were eating - we felt pressured to leave due to the people waiting around and clearly eyeing our seats. Reviewing just based off of their taiyaki: BEST taiyaki in the area! It is always made to order so it may take a minute, but always well worth the wait. You can get 4 taiyaki and choose 2 different fillings for $10 (inflation made the price go up, but I think it's still worth it!) The texture is nice and crispy on the outside and basically like mochi on the inside! Only warning to give is that the filling will be HOT since it is fresh so if you're like me and want to eat it right away, be careful!! Parking in the lot kinda sucks, but it's close enough to walk from the California Market structure. Vibes are nice and clean inside with a calming white aesthetic. read more

Anko is simply tasty..! It looks basic but the flavor is sweet and cooling, and has everything you'd want in a summer dessert. The service is quick and efficient. Even if the line is long, it won't take long. The seating is a bit close to each other so it'll be kinda loud in there but definitely not as loud as a bar where you'll have to yell to the person next to you. This was a cool spot to study at. I parked across the street walked for about 30 seconds before entering this place. I found a place at the window and continued with my reading after ordering an espresso and green tea. These beverages along with the nearby outlets helped me have a productive session. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with a few friends. We had some time to kill so we were looking for a refreshing snack. We got there around 12:45pm and it wasn't too busy. We got to the counter and ordered the mango shaved ice and the black sesame shaved ice. The lady looked at us and said "sorry, the shaved ice will take about 30 minutes" as if she thought we were going to give up and leave. We were confused as to why shaved ice would take 30 minutes but we had time to spare so we said that that was okay, to which the lady looked surprised. Again, it seemed like she just didn't want our business. Anyway, we ordered and sat down and we waited about 45 minutes until our shaved ice finally came out. The shaved ice was really good. The black sesame was super nutty and they are very generous with the red bean. The mango one was really refreshing and they really layer in the mangos so you're getting mango flavor in every bite even towards the bottom. The dessert here is amazing but I can't say the same about the service. Hoping it was a one time thing and next time I'll have a better experience. read more

I've always heard such good things about the shaved ice here, and it really is one of the best. So smooth, creamy and optimally sweet. My friend and I got the Strawberry one and the ample strawberry chunks really pulled it together, and I loved the glaze on top too. They also give the perfect amount of condensed milk to add a little sweetness to the shaved ice near the bottom of the bowl. Our order did take a while to come out but it was worth it because the Taiyaki we got was soo fresh and warm. The texture of these things is so chewy and the custard and red bean filling were delectable :-). I was really pleasantly surprised by these and will definitely be back for them. read more

TL;DR - super cute and has great desserts! would come back again DESSERT/DRINK: *pomegrante tonic - very refreshing and tangy! it was too tangy for me at first but after a couple sips, i ended up liking it a lot. if they had the green grape flavor that day, i probably would've gone for that though. 4/5 *mango bingsoo - amazing! the ice was super smooth and creamy. the mangoes were also pretty sweet. 4.5/5 *red bean/nutella & banana taiyaki - the taiyakis were SOOO yummy. perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. would come back here just for these. Quick update: Anko is still the best place to get taiyaki in ktown. The taiyaki at Somisomi does not compare to the ones you can get here. The vibes of this little shop are also I also really appreciate the vibes of this little shop. It's bright and not hectic, making it a pretty good study spot. My girlfriend and I also got the mango bingsoo this time. While they don't give you as much shaved ice as their competitors, I feel like it's still the perfect amount to split with another person. Valet parking costs $4 (so expensive), so I highly recommend finding street parking or even parking at California market. read more

After he took care of that man...mind you greeted, got his order and bid him ado...he still didn't attend to me. So, I finally greet him: Hi, how are you doing? I'm here to pick up a to-go order. The name is... He turns to go check and may have said something minimal. I can't remember. I do remember he never made eye contact. He must've said it's coming or something. I go back towards the front to wait. Another man enters, who is greeted by a different employee. Kindly. Takes care of the guy and even says have a good day. That same, second man brings me my to-go order. Doesn't say have a good day. I mean it's not like it's not possible, right. Don't gaslight me. I just 2 different people treat 2 different people better than I was. I check my bag and ask for utensils. He gets them. That's it. I decide to call after I left. Mind you parking stinks around this area. I would never think to come here to struggle and pay for parking and deal with bad customer service and food that is mid at best. The manager, a lady, wasn't much better. She apparently was sitting in the store and remembered me and the color I was wearing. She's basically like I saw you. I don't know what happened. I'll have to check with my staff because we don't discriminate. Mind you, ai didn't mention race. Was it because I was black? Perhaps because I was a woman? I will never know. What I do know is I was treated differently real time. Looked past. Given a lower level of priority and reception. But I'm puzzled that if this manager saw 3 very different interactions, why didn't she intervene. People have built in biased whether they are aware of it or not. And there is a difference between intent and impact. I did not feel seen. I did not feel empathy. She offered a free drink. She apologized. But it didn't feel heartfelt or sincere. You know how when you can tell when they are genuinely disappointed and want to really make it right. I told her that I didn't even live in the area and wasn't thrilled about returning. I won't return. And as I said the coffee and food was mid. Do better.

I ordered the Blueberry SYRN smoothie from Sydney Sweeney through the tablet. After waiting about least half an hour, that was when I was told where to pick up my drink that I ordered on the tablet. The drink still looked pretty when I picked it up, but it didn't taste like anything special. The smoothie still tasted good though, so not much to complain about that, besides the high price tag of their drinks (it was $22). Now, enough about the smoothie section, the rest of this store looked very well organized with their products and it looked like they sell good quality items here. The store looked organized because I liked how they had all the labels facing out, unlike other stores with their drinks section. The meats and sushi section looked fresh, they have a colorful variety of fruits and veggies too. They also give some free food samples throughout the store, so that was nice. I'd recommend this place for the experience. It's cool how this is a grocery store where you can buy fresh food and drinks here. It's also a good place if you're looking for some colorful veggies.
