Got some too good to go. So let's see if they're pretty good eh or ew. I ended up getting 2 choco cookies, 1 croissant, 1 pretzel croissant, and 3 of like their curry pastries. The choco cookies were falling apart and were thin, cocoay, and chewy. Tasted like a brownie but in cookie form. The croissants were super buttery, flakey, and lightly crisp. * OK, I would like to start this review off by saying that the 3 stars is purely based off of my first experience here. I am open to trying out their pastries as I have seen good reviews about them. MATCHA LATTE 6.5/10: This matcha was good in terms of matcha flavor, I would definitely say it is not watered down and concentrated enough. That being said, I unfortunately found that there was a bitter aftertaste to my matcha when asked with light vanilla. (I typically ask for light because I don't go for sweet sweet matcha lattes). I ended up asking for more syrup, which they make in house by the way (really good), and had to add some more at home. Maybe this was just a one time thing but the bitterness was not to my liking BUT it is good after you add a good amount of vanilla. :) AMBIANCE 10/10: Honestly, this place is super cute on the inside. Cute coffee spot, off of La Brea, in the middle of clothing stores. Needed an Ice Coffee for a quick pick me up. They were so nice to let me order, I didn't check the time they closed but it was close to 5pm and I walked in at 4:45pm. They made my drink quick and it tasted sooo good and refreshing! First time coming here and tried the "Day Drinker" with oat milk! Essentially, this is their house made vanilla syrup with bourbon alcohol "burned off" -- which I primarily tasted as more of an after-taste of alcohol with each sip. This was not what I normally typically get, but it was nice to try something new, and I'm glad I did! I must say that their chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious! Honestly possibly one of the best I've ever had -- it contained the perfect amount of chocolate with every bite. The ambiance: there's seating outside in a small alley looking area, and then inside there is a large shareable table and also table top seats by the window Rating: 4/5 total because I cannot unsee the image of mosquitos flying around the glass that enclosed their baked goods/pasties. I also read the reviews here prior to coming and I read how friendly everyone but I didn't really get that vibe? Maybe because I always have that default look/vibe of just being like a little more introverted/shy. But I have been to places that felt nicer and more comfortable and well just didn't really feel that way this visit Parking: I came on a Sunday so it's nice that there's free street parking up until 11 AM! Overall, I would still come back again to try their regular ice vanilla latte because the quality of the drink was very fresh and high-quality! Also, the chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious. Heard the matcha was good and I ordered mine with cane sugar/oat milk but I have to say, the green from the matcha did not come through in the cold version. Perhaps I should have expected it to be lighter without a foamy consistency, it was ordered as iced with light sugar though. I want to give another chance to Matchabar, but don't want to be super extra and ask the customer service to adjust the ice/consistency level if the latte format wasn't right. There's a coffee bar after all and a lotta combinations of espressos and milks for this store - the current rotation is seasonal also. Just gonna not use their milks to adjust my own and try staying caffeinated or "buzzed" - minus the bland taste of oatmilk next time! read more

Pretty disappointed with my experience here. I've seen this cute coffee shop on social media several times and I wanted to try it out, but the service and drink quality left a a lot to be desired. Firstly, the ambiance is great! Very cute outdoor seating area and interior. It's like I was in Santa Barbara. It's the reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. For the service, the barista serving me was not very welcoming. He seemed very unenthusiastic when I had questions. I even said thank you after ordering and he just ignored me. I got the matcha latte and I would have to say it is one of the worst matcha lattes I've had in LA. It just tasted like watery milk with a hint of matcha powder. Very disappointing. I go back and forth between giving Neighborhood 3 or 4 stars and here's why. It's a cute little coffeeshop with some indoor and outdoor seating and a semi-creative menu. Need not be alarmed or surprised when you have to get creative with street parking because La Brea, need I say more? Anyway, back to our afternoon coffee / tea experience. Dropped in on a windy day so we opted to sit inside. Luckily there were four open chairs that we hopped on quickly (max of 2ish tables inside). Ordered our drinks and the service was subpar. I get that it's the LA vibe to not be friendly but when you're in the service industry, at least try a little? Carrying on, there seemed to be a slight hiccup in our drink order and instead of the employees being helpful in remediating, they instead avoided the situation all together. After some not so pleasant interactions, we got the correct drinks. I appreciated the ceramic for here cups and the lack of upcharge for non-dairy milk. Other coffeeshops need to get on this asap! All in all, decent coffeeshop with good quality drinks, just wish the service / energy was a bit better. read more

I came here twice on a recent trip to LA. So happy i found this little cafe - their drinks are great and the little secluded courtyard is such a cute place to sit down and enjoy your drink/snack. I especially enjoyed their specialty latte with cardamom and orange blossom flavour. They get their baked goods catered (I know because I saw the exact same baked goods at other LA cafes) -- the everything vegan croissant is really good as well as the matcha donut. I've had really good iced horchata lattes and this place does NOT have a good one. It literally tasted like watered down simple syrup with nonfat milk. I couldn't even taste the cinnamon that they supposedly put in there. Terrible. I should've know from the look of it, but I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. And I was...just not in the way I had hoped to be. Basura. The cold brew was not much better either...which I mean...how do you fuck that up? At least mine was drinkable. Neighborhood is my favorite local coffee shop in LA! The Day Drinker latte -- made with Maker's Mark infused vanilla -- is my all-time favorite latte. It's good hot or iced, and I've had it with several types of milk. It always hits. I prefer the 12oz over the 16oz because it's two shots of espresso either way. The sesame pretzel croissant is also phenomenal. Love a place that listens and is always looking to improve. That's what I learned during my second go around. Gabe the GM is an EXPERT. He talked me through the menu and I learned a lot. It was cool to hear about the weekly bean rotations and Australian company/growers they've added on. Service was excellent, it felt very welcoming and genuine. I tried the draft latte, tonic espresso, and a matcha drink. GET THE TONIC ESPRESSO. It's incredible. Refreshing and light. Everything a coffee shop should be. Located on a hectic stretch of La Brea, the small cafe offers a peaceful escape, especially in their gorgeous 1920's Spanish style courtyard. The baristas all look like models, they roast single origin coffee, and have a well stocked bakery case, brimming with a variety of croissants from local star, Sugarbloom Bakery. I opted for an iced cappuccino with oat milk, which was made perfectly. They have clean restrooms, located at the back of the courtyard.
