Noooooooo Why did I finally stop into this establishment!?!? This place is neck and neck with See's Candy minus the free samples. Staff is seriously as sweet as the candy. The two young ladies during my visit were very upbeat and patient! Of course I had lots of questions about their large selection of sweets. After reaching out to Annabelle's Chocolate Lounge regarding the rancid almonds in their chocolates, they responded with a very thoughtful and informative email apologizing for the problem. It seems that the distributor they use for outside retail is not insuring that the chocolates that are placed in grocery stores are as fresh as could be, which makes sense. Angela and Alissa of Annabelles also sent my wife and I a complimentary box of assorted chocolates as compensation for our troubles. I can only say that the freshness of the chocolates that they sent easily eclipsed the chocolates that I purchased at my local grocery store. In the future I will be buying my Annabelles chocolates directly from them, eliminating the middle man and guaranteeing freshness. read more

For being primarily a lover of dark chocolate & not-too-sweet treats...I was surprised and thrilled to find that the chocolates here are delicious! I highly recommend trying a chocolate and wine flight. When I went, there was Chenin Blanc, Cuvee, and Riesling under the white wines. Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Malbec, Red Blend under the red wines. And there was a port under the dessert wine. Each locally produced wine had a specific chocolate paired with it and they all paired quite well! Plus, it was just super fun to try 4 different wines and 4 different chocolates for $25. My favorite chocolates were the Dark Chocolate Cayenne Truffle (perfect kick), White Chocolate Lemon Bark (ginger one is good too), Dark Chocolate Coffee Caramel and they have a toffee version too. Ask and they'll let you know which ones are not gluten free. There are also sugar free options. You buy the chocolates by weight, and they can put a ribbon on the box for you if it's a gift. The chocolates are artisan crafted and made on site in the back kitchen. The chocolates are absolutely gorgeous. But better yet, they are all so heavenly tasting. Yum! The pricing is $30 a pound. However the truffles and premium selections are priced by piece. Six regular pieces average about a quarter of a pound. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. They can weigh as you pick so you do not go into sticker shock at the end weight. My go to favorites are the dark chocolate peanut clusters and sea salt caramels. But I loosely use the term " favorite" because I luv 'em all! The shop is cozy, old fashion, and simply designed. It exudes a homey vibe. A low key atmosphere to partake in their chocolate and wine pairings. The wines are from local wineries. Speaking about local partnerships, the shop also sells gifts and jewelry crafted by local artisans. They also host the occasional painting event that is open to the public. read more

From Placerville out of a road trip, this Store is one on our lists to visit... A lot of choices but since we were trying to disaway from too much sugar, we picked Milk Coconut Sugar Free and Dark Rocky Road.. The lady who helped us was very pleasant, and polite... For a $7+ for 2 chocolates, i would say it was so worth it... Coconut sugar free was solid not airy chocolate, enough size and very very delicious...
