It was a privilege to be able to attend because my father was working for a company that was a primary vendor supplying all the grocery stores. What has been great about this family run company and still family owned is the story behind how it got started. If you do some research about Jose and how he came to this country and built this business from nothing and if you truly love small local businesses, and if you truly want to support the American dream of a Mexican immigrant, this is a place to shop. How does it stay fresh? He was very helpful explaining the process that they vacuum seal the meats, wet-age it in it's own juicies then blast freeze to keep the freshness. The ground beef was good and when defrosted it was better compared to the beef you would normally buy from a normal grocery chain. Everytime, I go to this location to pick-up meats, the staff is welcoming and friendly. They answer all my questions and point me in the right direction. I was pointed to their froze veggies and I'm going to buy them next time to see if they are just as fresh as their meats. The store is well lit so it is easy to read everything. I get that Farmer's Markets are also a great place to sell other specialty items but the vegetables are the main thing I'm looking for. Some of the vegetables looked sad and wilted already and I couldn't believe the prices they were still charging for them. I did buy some bratwurst from a meat vendor that was there and they had some good stuff available, but again it was pricey. I understand that vendors need to charge more for their items but spending way more than I would at grocery store for the same items is a turn-off for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I used to visit farmers markets in Iowa (Iowa City and Dubuque) and both of those were quite spectacular with a wide array of options. The best thing about this market was the fresh squeezed lemonade I bought. Thankfully the vendor offers $2.50 lifetime refills so I can buy something when I visit again.
