I love this place. A very good hole on the wall neighborhood favorites with home down good country cooking. I always order the breakfast bowl which is a bowl of everything good in this restaurant smothered with delicious traditional sausage gravy. Never disappointed! If you come for breakfast, come hungry. We had the country fried steak breakfast and the breakfast bowl with sausage. We sat outside and our server was friendly. The CFS was really good and I ordered the hash browns crispy and they didn't disappoint. The breakfast bowl was good and came with sausage gravy. The sausage gravy on this was better than the pepper gravy on the steak. Next time, I would substitute for the sausage gravy. The eggs ordered over medium were more like well done, but the food was still good. This is a solid little spot in Powell, so if you are hungry for breakfast, give them a try. read more

We went in early on a Sunday morning for some breakfast. It was early enough there was only a few people in the restaurant. The restaurant probably seats 20 people. The interior is small and dated, however the diner appeared to be clean. There is heated seating outside. The service was excellent. I would have given this place 5 stars if the food was better, the food was nothing I would rush back to get. I ordered the waffle, the waffle had a crust of sugar, so it tasted like a donut. It was okay, not what I was expecting in a traditional waffle. I like strong coffee, I didn't get that here. My SO had the biscuits and gravy, it was meh. If I go back, I will definitely try the pancakes. Overall, it was a pleasant experience (due to the pleasant server) with sub par/poor food. read more

Needed to kill some time before an appointment in Powell, so I figured I'd check out a local breakfast joint. This place is diner style, so i sat at the counter which always makes me feel nostalgic. Ordered a classic breakfast (eggs, sausage patties, hash browns, and French toast). The eggs were cooked exactly as requested. The sausage patties were tasty and cooked perfectly. The hash browns were great. The French toast was okay. The service was exceptional. And I was quite impressed when I noticed both the waitress and the cook cleaning various surfaces in-between their tasks. read more

Whoa y'all. We were looking for a fun breakfast on our anniversary, and this ended up being the best diner experience I've had in Ohio. We sat at the counter and took it all in--genuinely cheerful, attentive service, amazing grill cook, and banter with the regulars. Specific endorsements: Grits were perfectly cooked to order, with a huge puddle of melted salted butter in the center. Drizzled with honey, it was basically ambrosia. Enormous breakfast sandwich was stacked high but somehow maintained its structural integrity through us sharing/dipping eagerly in ketchup/pausing to marvel at how damn tasty it was. Side of fried potatoes were crispy, spiced, and tender...just order it. No regrets. We also got a waffle and coffee+OJ, which were more standard-but-good. Ok, the waffle was actually amazing too, now that I think about it. Dense but flavorful and buttery, with ripe strawberries and banana slices on top. We were just stuffed by then and it was more of a feat to finish it than anything else ;) Next time I'll try to edit my selections in line with stomach capacity! read more

Do yourself a favor and try the Barria Tacos!! We always have come for breakfast which is good food with lots of options. We came for the Mexican dinner tonight and by far the tacos were excellent! I will never go anywhere else - all the options....American style or Mexican style Al pastor, beef, chorizo, chicken, shrimp...but the barria tacos were to die for!!! Most of the regular menu is pretty mediocre (at least out of what I've had), but good for the price and I'm never disappointed that I choose to eat here. "Sweetie, everything tastes better cooked in bacon drippings." That's one of the things you may overhear at Anne's. We made the Saturday morning breakfast trip to Powell for some home cooking out of a strip mall setting. This is not a large establishment, and even smaller when the weather closes the outdoor dining. A quick peek inside showed a clean, bright spot, with acoustics that only elevated the crowd noise. A table(and chairs) was cleared, and wiped outside. A friendly welcome, and rundown of what these first-timers could expect from the offerings. We were warned that meals are large. A quick perusal of the breakfast menu left us unfulfilled as the four of us wanted to try about 20 items. Oh well, 4 it must be. Notice the gap? The wait on the food as mentioned in other reviews is real. We were lucky enough to fill the gap with great conversation, with great company. If you have impatient children, you may want to order fruit, oatmeal, or cereal upon being seated. Outside, in particular seasons, you may notice the local bees like to buzz around. No hassles from any nearby diners, but be aware if you have a phobia or allergy. Hey, the foods here! Wow are these portions big. Yep. You can smell and taste that bacon dripping flavor all over the plate. Since the table basically turned into a buffet with 4 forks, here's what we tried. Scrambled Delight with enough contents to be an omelette. Ciabatta French toast with fresh fruit. chipped beef on toast. Eggs benedict. Potatoes, hashbrown casserole, biscuits, gravy, hand pattied sausage, bacon, coffee, juice. Everything tastes wonderful. There's so much of it. This is where you bring growing teenage boys who will only order one meal. Then go home and get in the fridge again. We could not find a single item that we did not want. It was all so good. I did find that ONE item that only they do, and no one else. The regulars will tell you Ciabatta FT, Bologna, hashbrown cass, fried green tomatoes. All of these are found elsewhere and done in comparable taste. I'm not sure vegans will enjoy the bacon drippings. Nor does it look like the place for a separate vegan, gluten free prep area. This is your grandmas kitchen with a cast iron skillet that never gets scrubbed clean. Stop going to chain restaurants with the name Kitchen or Barrel in the title. Even your grandmother would curl her top lip at that food. Here, she would start hugging people, and tie on an apron on her way into the kitchen. read more

The environment: Fairly small and noisy on the weekends. The younger server was impersonal and complained about another customer. However, the rest of the staff was friendly and provided good service. The food: I ordered the chicken and waffle, side of hash browns, and coffee. The coffee was good and refills were free. My disappointment started when my chicken and waffle came out. The waffle was almost cake like; it was extremely dry and crumbled. The batter on the chicken was seasoned well but it tasted and looked like frozen chicken tenders. My hash browns never came out and were not listed on my bill. The eggs were greasy like waffle house and the toast was a bit burnt. The fruit was minimal, but the pancakes were fantastic!. I work in Powell, so we went to this place for lunch one day. While they seem like great people, I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. They were very busy that day and the one (early 20 something) that was waiting tables was clearly flustered and was taking it out on the customers. The gfood was simply ok. I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was just barely cooked enough to be considered done. All this said, I will still give this place another shot for breakfast. This place is awesome!! They have a grab n' go breakfast- $3.99 for a breakfast sandwich (you can customize), small muffin and a coffee. Took only 3 minutes to make and I was on my way. I got egg, bacon, and cheddar on a biscuit. There were about 5 pieces of bacon on it and eggs were made to perfection. HUGE breakfast meal on the cheap! The place is cozy and clean. There's a counter for dining as well as seating for smaller groups. The menu had a lot of choices and all looked delicious. Pricing seemed fair for the amount of food you get and the freshness. My husband ordered decaf coffee and eggs Benedict (served with spinach, tomato and ham) with a side of hash browns casserole. I ordered the breakfast bowl. This comes with sausage gravy, an egg, sausage and biscuits. Big too. It come also with your choice of potatoes. I got a coffee and orange juice.
