This is an unassuming little breakfast/lunch place that is in a parking lot in Powell. The service is very friendly and all the staff extremely polite and nice. For breakfast I got their big bowl, which came with biscuits, sausage gravy, a sausage patty, two eggs, and hash browns. Needless to say this was a very large dish, and only $8.00. The taste was okay. I was somewhat disappointed that the sausage gravy didn't quite taste good with the hash browns. My wife ordered the eggs Benedict and we shared. I thought it was not bad, but she didn't like it at all. My son got the waffles and chicken. It was in the smaller side but he seemed to really like the waffles and the chicken. We had a difference of opinion. My wife didn't like the place much but my son and I did. I wouldn't say that anything was exceptional here (besides the service), but they provide a good breakfast for a reasonable price and I would like to return and try some of the other menu items. As long as you come with the expectations that this is a no-frills place that provides a decent breakfast I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

What a pleasant discovery! After a soso experience at firstwatch, I thought the breakfast food scene around this area was dead BUT thanks to Anne's kitchen I think I found the a new breakfast spot. Delishious!!! It's like eating at Grandma's house. We went for brunch on Sunday and was seated immediately. There was a little wait for bigger groups. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The proportions were very generous. I could not finish my whole meal. I highly suggest the hash brown casserole if it is an option for you. Definitely worth the short drive. We must have been part of the tail end of Saturday breakfast crowd as there was a short wait for a table. The place was a friendly noisy local joint, which I happen to like. Anne's Kitchen - Southern Style was a good discovery. My search was for a diner/breakfast nook with some outdoor seating as Spring now turns to Summer in 2022. I saddled up to the counter and made it easy. Two eggs over easy, bacon, wheat toast. Perfection and fast. It's sorta smallish inside but I'll wager locals from Powell area go and go often. Outdoor seating isn't all that great but it's there and will be a nice place (under cover) to enjoy a nice breakfast or lunch anytime. Seems family owned and operated given my kibitzing with the servers. That's cool, too, in these times of post-PAN. Love seeing small business doing it right and hopefully being rewarded. Arrived 9:30 on a Friday morning & found a table immediately. Outside tables were available too. Very attentive & kind waitstaff even though they were busy. I enjoyed my eggs Benedict which were served with fresh tomatoes, lettuce & chives. My son had blueberry pancakes. Even though the children size was well sized, he was still hungry and they quickly put in an order for more. I got a taste of this 2nd serving and WOW!! They were light, and so delicious. I've spent my college years in the south, but my brother hasn't and clearly grew envious of my biscuits and gravy lifestyle. He found this local place for us to check out this morning and we loved every part of it! This place is definitely southern - everyone in had a drawl. Who knew there were even southerners walking amongst us in Powell, OH? Our server was so freaking sweet and just oozing that southern charm. I could already tell the meal would be authentic - and it was!! Bro ordered this sausage gravy bowl and I tried both the short stack and the biscuits and gravy. A good southern breakfast place has got to have on point gravy. It definitely delivered. But what made me happiest of all was the check. Such reasonable prices here!! We will never need to drive to Bob Evans anymore...this local breakfast diner has all we need now! Oh, one last thing: the population here is quite elderly. We found this hidden gem on a recent weekend trip to Columbus. All I can say is that you want to run - don't walk - to check it out! We called ahead to alert them we were coming since it was a Sunday morning and we had a larger group of 8. They thanked us for calling ahead but told us we'd have to wait like everyone else. When we arrived and saw how small the restaurant was, we considered not even waiting since we thought sure our wait would be an hour+. We were very surprised to get seated within 15 minutes! The good: *It was ALL good! The service was terrific, the menu was extensive and full of yumminess, and the portions were HUGE. *Prices were great. The bad: *Our group did have to be seated at adjacent tables but we didn't mind that a bit. *This is a small place. VERY small. My wife and I tried Anne's Kitchen on a Wednesday evening. It's a very small place but with the thunderstorms that night we had no trouble getting a table immediately. The owner was working the front and her partner was covering the kitchen. The owner is from Mexico. Apparently she bought the place and kept the very American diner breakfast and lunch menu and added TexMex as the dinner menu. Interesting, but it seems to be working for them. Lunch and breakfast items are available all day. I had the Birria tacos with sides of rice and beans. The sides were good enough but nothing to write home about. The Birria tacos on the other hand were fantastic. the corn tortillas were some of the best I've had. loaded with a delicious and savory shredded beef. The Birria sauce had flavor that ran deeper than the consistency lead me to expect. I could eat those everyday. My wife had the Patty Melt. A nice sized beef patty on thick sliced marble rye. She could only eat half. The spiced apples side served as a nice dessert. Overall the food quality was very high. The service was prompt and very friendly. Most importantly the restaurant was very clean with a comfortable atmosphere. I'm looking forward to going back for breakfast soon. read more

I believe that the change in ownership here has helped to create a wonderful diner experience in Powell! Don't get me wrong... I enjoyed coming to Ann's kitchen in the past, but the changes I embrace include extending the hours it is open, adding in some delicious Mexican food options, and retaining and improving many of the classics that have always been on the menu here. I am now a very big fan of the omelettes, especially the vegetable omelette! The current chef has the magic touch of being able to create paper thin, crêpe like omelettes stuffed with delicious ingredients. Outstanding! I also appreciate that they are happy to substitute a delicious pancake for toast (and as I recall, with no up-charge). I also have to recommend the totally yummy hash brown casserole, which is a side option. It is moist and includes melted cheese and other tasty ingredients (onions?). Service is attentive and friendly. The restaurant and restrooms are super clean. It's as friendly and welcoming as ever. We had our first dining experience here this morning. After reading previous reviews, I saw that some were very good and there were also plenty of others that were not so great. I figured it was worth giving it a try. We arrive right at opening time and were the second people in the door for the day. People were friendly but only two people were working when we got there. The same person that took our order and brought us our food was the one who then went back to the kitchen to cook the food. She was friendly but service was compromised as she can't cook and waitress simultaneously. The other gentlemen that works there just stood behind the counter and talked most of the time we were there. Food was served promptly. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach along with biscuits, gravy, ham and hash brown casserole. Eggs were excellent but the rest of the meal tasted much like prepared food from the restaurant supply store. Not that it was that bad but rather it just wasn't that good. Two waitresses started work right before we were ready to leave. The service level improved tremendously with their arrival. I would suggest having at least one of them scheduled to work at opening time. My conclusion is it is ok, hence the three stars. To be great step up the service and find a way to step up the breakfast sides. For breakfast simple foods that are well prepared are always a hit. read more

We stopped by after a float session nearby ready for brunch! It was about an hour from closing time so the crowd wasn't too bad. There were plenty of parking spots avail as the restaurant is in a strip area. We walked in and we were seated right away...pick your seat type do place! Our waitress took our order - the item I originally wanted was no longer avail so I went with a tex mex omelet. As we waited for our food I glanced around the diner type setting...the ladies who ran the place looked busy but on top of things! The decor is diner style. A few bar chairs. Indoor seating. And an outdoor patio. The crowd seemed to be mostly locals. The menu was simple...breakfast and lunch items. Our food arrived quickly and as with any place that serves breakfast...I tend to judge them by their biscuits...and the two perfectly warm and fresh biscuits on my plate did not disappoint! The omelet was perfectly cooked and filled with great veggies that had a hit of char on them from the grill. We also ordered a fruit bowl...mixture of delicious fresh fruit. The hash browns - cooked how I asked them...extra crisp. We cleared our plates, paid our modest check and went on our way! This is a no frills type of place...the food is great, service is quick, and the setting is homey. A nice surprise in the Powell area. Family owned, delicious food and cool atmosphere. Can you ask for much more when eating brunch on a Saturday? We came in and sat at the counter. As we were waiting, the owner Jim was walking around talking to the guests and offering them delicious chipotle style cheese and crackers. We talked with Jim for a while and he gave us the history of Anne's. He took ownership in 2014 and his family and close friends help run the joint. His wife Landa is also involved and manages the spot. During my visit I saw her serve tables, clean dishes and greet customers. I ordered the ribeye steak omelet, which is served with thick toast. Inside my omelet were onions, cheddar cheese and peppers. My husband had the creamed chipped beef and gravy. It was served with Home Fries and scrambled eggs. It was huge!! The flavors were delicious and ingredients were fresh. This is definitely a powell gem. When we walked outside the powell farmers market was in full swing! read more
