The cocktails were good. The food was a bit bland and underwhelming. Our table got risotto balls, pizza, onion soup, pretzel sticks, cheese fries, and several other items. There wasn't much seasoning on anything. The prices don't really meet the expectation of what you'd expect the food to be. Would go for cocktails, but not for food again. The fried shrimp with ranch over a bed of lettuce......yup I ate the darn lettuce!!! LOL Shrimp Alfredo (me) / Chicken Alfredo (him) Lemon Drop (me) / Red wine (him) *photos * He left nothing on the plate and had the meatballs appetizer. I had to take a to-go tray.... Cousin's that Brunch on a Sunday @annieruthswine. This black owned restaurant nestled in a strip along Hull St Rd, you'll find this spot where the vibes and customer service are amazing! We were greeted and seated promptly and our waitress was nice and welcoming. Their playlist top tier, lol! This particular day the mimosas were $4 (they run specials so be sure to check their page) and they offered an array of juices, I opted for one pineapple and one white cranberry (both refreshing 3.9/5). My sister ordered spicy bloody Mary's (typical with a lil spice, she did mention they were a bit watery maybe too much ice). We sampled the soft serve (vanilla and mint with whipped vodka) interesting combination, definitely gave dessert. The highlights of our meals: my sister ordered the chicken and waffle, she raved on the chicken breast stating it was perfectly seasoned and served piping hot! My cousin enjoyed her French toast and crisp bacon. Areas of improvement would be less cook time on the omelette as mines was scorched (sautéed onion, mushroom and mozzarella cheese) 2/5, the bacon was decent 3/5, I added a slice of toast 3/5 just plain toast was ok but the potatoes we all agreed could've been better, basic run of the mill potatoes some over cooked and warm (1.5/5). Overall I would return to try maybe a lunch dish thanks to my sister's recommendation on the chicken. If you're in the area you should definitely give them a try. read more

Wish I would've taken photos ... but wouldn't recommend this place for food. Maybe happy hour and game nights with apps but not real food. I ordered the seafood platter with Mac & cheese. Seafood was greasy and not battered well. The cod was falling a part and had no flavor. I couldn't eat it. My mom had the Alfredo and wasn't pleased. It was watery. We also had the wings for app and they had no seasoning at all. We had to ask for dry rub seasoning to make it more decent. Best thing was the mule and soft serve they offer. For drinks, My daughter had the Moscow Mule, (which I was very surprised she was not carded - she looks super young), the other guest had the Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I had the Jalapeño Margarita, which was very delightful. For Brunch, my daughter had the shrimps and grits, hold the bacon, she seemed to thoroughly enjoy, the other guest had French Toast and I had the chicken and waffles, I've never had flat waffles before, weird. Based on reviews, we stopped in for dinner. Both of us had delicious French onion soup and a salad. Salads are huge and filled with lots of yummy extras. Each were $14. The soup was really tasty but serving size and the fact it was almost room temp didn't warrant $11. Partner had a burger which had a distinctive taste of Worcestershire. We splurged on dessert which was ok. We were the only diners at 5pm, so service was appropriately attentive. Our bill was over $100. A bit more than the dining experience warranted. So my friend and I are staying in the area overnight for a wedding tomorrow at the Reservoir and found this spot within ten minutes of our hotel. They were at about 80% capacity or so when we arrived. We waited for about 5 minutes or so to be sat and then waited a bit longer for waters but our waitress was very good. There were only two for the entire store, about 45 people total, and one of them it was only her second day. We sat outside on the back patio and it's a nice, large space. A bit stuffy bc the windows are covered with plastic so it doesn't breathe as much as I thought it would back there... plus it was super dark with the lights off until right before we left at 8pm. For the amount of people and tables inside, the two young gals waiting tables were working their butts off. We did have to wait longer for everything we asked for, drinks, napkins, or whatever, but they were doing an awesome job and running around like crazy. I ordered the fried risotto balls which were delicious and served with parmesan cheese and thick tomato marinara paste that I suspect was straight from the can. I also ordered the Chicken and apricot chutney panini with spinach, brie, and prosciutto. It was good, but not that good, if you know what I mean. My friend was disappointed with her chicken alfredo, the noodles were overdone and it was bland. She ordered a side salad and it was HUGE and fresh and delicious with really good honey balsamic vinaigrette. Star of the show. My panini came with either a small salad or soup of the day and I chose the small side salad. Again, large and in charge, fresh, and a great lemon vinaigrette dressing. We bought cupcakes and cookies to go and were disappointed with both. The cookies were just bland in taste.... I tried one of almost everything chocolate Florentine cookie, a Black forest, a snowball, an almond tart and a raspberry tart cookie. The snowball was the best one. At $12.99 a pound, overpriced for the bland flavor. My friend loved the icing on her lemon blueberry cupcake but said the cake was not fresh. All in all - this is a solid 3-stars. The owner was friendly and walked around and talked to folks and for the amount of staff they had, they did an excellent job. Our waitress was harried and busy and had to have at least 25 people she was waiting on but she ran around, paid as much attention to everyone as she could, and kept a great attitude. I was very impressed with her and left a tip to show it bc I waited tables as a young adult and appreciated her hard work. There are many areas for improvement here - but the foundation is great. Really great vibes! Staff were friendly even though it was really packed. We went for Jeopardy and had a blast. The pasta I chose, however, wasn't good. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and charcuterie board. The spaghetti sauce was really dry and pasty. The noodles were dry as well and I wouldn't recommend the meatballs at all. The chicken Alfredo on the other hand was great! My friend got the tenders and liked them. And the drink selection was also good. Overall, the place was lovely. Very disappointed today! The restaurant was referred to me by a friend, and since it's in my neighborhood I definitely wanted to support it. I stopped by after morning service. Nice, looking establishment. Only the brunch menu was available at 12:30 in the afternoon. It was not busy and the service was OK, but the food was terrible. I ordered the breakfast bowl with potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage gravy. The meal was very bland, the sausage gravy was watered down, the portion size was that of a child, and it included less than half a piece of bacon. Needless to say, I didn't eat it. I was very pleased with the portion too. Also had the cheese fries as an appetizer but they were just okay. I honestly feel scammed right now. The prices I saw in the photos online looked pretty fair. Based off the range of baked goods I saw in the pictures, I decided to stop in. To my dismay, there was only a case of cookies you could choose from and slim pickings for the other baked goods. Thought I would see some beautiful tarts and an array of cakes. Was only met with basic piped cupcakes, two types of single serving cheesecakes, and two flavors of sliced cake. The only thing that had a price on it displayed were the cookies. I decided on a single serving carrot cake cheesecake and a slice of the salted caramel cake. I was literally floored when they told me that the total was $18... All the baked goods looked amateurish and the serving sizes were average. Got home and tried the cheesecake with my SO. The flavor was good but the texture was dense on the cheesecake and very home bakerish on the cake bottom. It all just mushed in your mouth. Then we tried the slice of cake which was undoubtedly STALE. Seriously tasted like it was multiple days old. The buttercream was packed with sugar and felt chalky. We took two bites and left the rest. There are so many good bakeries in Richmond which charge a lot less for a whole lot more. Overall, the desserts all looked, felt, and tasted very amateur. Came in for Sunday brunch with my parents, husband and our two daughters(15, and 8 months). My 15 yr old ordered French toast, husband had chicken n waffles, my dad ordered an omelette and my mother ordered the breakfast bowl and I had the breakfast burrito. My burrito was missing the bacon which I didn't understand because how to you leave out the bacon?? My husband said he enjoyed the chicken but not the waffle. My daughter liked her French toast. My mother didn't finish her food however my dad likes his omelette and shared some with our baby girl(but she loves everything with her new brand new taste buds lol). What a delightful little restaurant tucked away on Hull. My daughter and I came in one Friday evening for our girls night dinner. It's rather small inside, maybe only 8-10 booths or so, but I really loved that it was so intimate and cozy inside. We sat right across from the dessert window so we could plan our attack. Nice wine list, HH until 7pm! We started out with the prosciutto-wrapped asparagus and couldn't have been more pleased. Large, crisp stalks of asparagus wrapped in thinly sliced prosciutto! So good. We ended up getting the soup and sandwich meal, my daughter got the BLT and I got the apple & brie panini. They were yummy but the real star was the cup of french onion soup. OMG. Quite possibly the best french onion soup I've ever had. The thick layer of cheese tasted like a smoked marshmellow and tasted amazing. Service was super friendly and accommodating. We finally decided on the peanut butter chocolate cake slice and the Italian lemon cake slice. WOW. Delicious. I also noticed they had one of those amazing, souped out Espresso machines and that people were coming in and out for coffee. You KNOW i love a proper cup of espresso, so I ordered that with dessert as well. I noticed they had icecream from Gelati Celasti, which I keep reminding people is not gelato but icecream. Some people don't care; I do. Evidently they change it out, sometimes they have real whipped gelato, but sometimes it's just that scooped icecream. My sister and I sat in the patio which was nice and cozy with beautiful plants and dimmed lights that was lit. Some of the things we ordered were: Artisan Thin Crust Desserterie Pizza - A favorite among others that come here and a top choice if you're craving pizza. It's just made perfectly; light and the crunch on the thin crust was just right.  Panini & Wrap Combinations - There's so many options for the panini and you get a side of your choice of a bowl of soup or half salad. I got the chicken panini with a side of caesar salad. I really enjoyed my panini and liked how the bread wasn't too thick and how I can taste the flavors. You have to cut up your lettuce for your salad; which I don't mind at all because I know my salad is fresh. Oh and the dressing was creamy and delish! Sangria (white wine) - Refreshing if you want a light fruity drink that's not too strong or not too sweet. Then get this! Ripe with peach and pear.  After we finished our dinner we are allowed to get up to the counter and choose our own desserts! How awesome is that? You can even try some samples of the gelato. So far I've tried the: Teramisu - Their most popular dessert is the teramisu cupcake. Simple yet perfectly made soft and moist with a well balanced flavour. Passionfruit - Topped cheesecake and light as a cheesecake should be. The passionfruit layer includes strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi gives the cake the right amount textures and sweetness. My girlfriends hosted my baby boy sprinkle here back in Mid January...I hadn't been here since I moved over to the Midlothian turnpike side of town. I was very impressed with some of the options that they offered. We had a grilled flatbread with sundried tomato cannellini dip and cucumber yogurt dip... both were delicious but the sundried tomato dip was awesome, so flavorful! We also had the cheese platter which had a great array of cheeses, olives, fruit and the caramelized pecans I could've literally eaten a days worth of them. We also tried the Classico Pizza which is similar to a Margherita pizza. This was also super yummy! The pizza is different, really thin crust... the only way I can describe it is think soft saltine pizza crust, so unique but so yummy! The girls also had some mimosas by the pitcher.... which all said was refreshing for a late lunch. We also ordered an array of desserts... Creek brûlée was creamy and satisfying, we tried mint chip, raspberry and PB gelato also yummy. The Macaroons were huge, they were good but a little sweet for me. My baby was supposed to be due mid February but he ended up coming 2.5 weeks early. I was so impressed by my visit that I came back five days after the birth of my baby with my mom and baby in tow for my first lunch outing after the birth. My mom and I ordered the Desserterie Pizza and the Desserterie Classic Grilled Cheese with prosciutto. The pizza was awesome texture just as I remembered it and love the mushrooms, spinach and sundried tomato. The pizza is super crisp even with many toppings. The grilled cheese was also grilled to perfection. Melty cheese and crisp bread. The most memorable thing surprisingly though was the side of ratatouille (mixed vegetables) that the grilled cheese came with. Seriously the best seasonal mix of vegetables I've ever had at a restaurant, super flavorful and great taste... I could've had a bowl of the ratatouille and be completely satisfied. My mom and I also went a little crazy and got some desserts to go... we bought some red velvet cupcakes (good, not too sweet... but not the best I've ever had), Bourbon Pecan Tarts (good, but could've been had more bourbon flavor and be less sweet). The Desserterie expanded their place a couple years ago.... and the outside portion added provides it more space. The restaurant provides a good bistro feel. My mom had an interesting comment... she said there were all women in the restaurant for lunch. It's a good lunch spot but my mom makes a good point it is kind of a more girly place... they may need to consider some more manlier meals to get more men in here as I think it's a great spot. This bakery is professionally run, and always has something that is sure to not disappoint. I needed dessert for 10-12 for a dinner party after a significant snow storm. Decided (ugh) to try out a newer bakery and give them a chance. Not only was this place not open (the employees were there and did answer the door), but they had nothing fresh, not even day old. Said they only made pies by special order. SO, back to The Desserterie I went. Not only were they packed with patrons, but they had many gorgeous desserts to choose from! Came here for a celebratory dinner and it was not very good. The chicken Alfredo's chicken was dry and they used shells for the noodles. There were no desserts on the menu. It seems like they are trying to keep the same menu items as the former restaurant, which was absolutely delicious, however the standard is not the same.
