My wife and I had breakfast here this morning. OK, but bottom line is that there are a lot of less expensive and better breakfasts in the Newport area. I had eggs Benedict, my go to meal at a place I have not been before. They were OK. The sauce did not pop with a lemony tang the way it is supposed to. Not much in the way of lemon juice in it, for sure. That makes for a very bland sauce. The potatoes that came with it were a bit on the hot side for my taste, and there was no indication of that on the menu. My wife's hash browns were pretty bland as well. we ate here over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. We walked in around 2pm on a Sunday and sat ourselves. Our server was very nice and got us drinks right away. The glasses are pretty small, but we were not charged for refills so we didn't mind. I ordered a turkey sandwich on wheat bread (came standard with lettuce, mayo & mustard) and I got chips as well. My boyfriend got two hot dogs and replaced his side of chips with fries instead. My turkey sandwich was great - the turkey was fresh and it was a great size. my boyfriend said the hot dogs tasted a little different, but not bad and he almost finished both of them... he did say that the fries were amazing. I tried them and agree - very good. The only downsides about this place are: 1. it is small, on a Saturday morning there could definitely be a wait. 2. they only take cash or check.. so be prepared. read more

Stopped here with 3 adults and 2 children for brunch on a very busy Sunday morning in July. Although the place was packed, they were great quickly getting a table cleared for us. The restaurant was well-staffed and the service was excellent and very attentive. The menu is perfect for someone looking for a hearty breakfast or lunch. All three adults in our party had the Farmer's omelette, which was full of fresh veggies...great. The children had a waffle, which was excellent. All of the other dishes we saw delivered to other tables looked really good as well. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially for downtown Newport. We will definitely go back. read more

Annie's was a great choice for a family meal after going to a few mansions. It had a great menu with something for everything including our little vegan. The waitress was so accommodating as well and was really good with our tired kids. I truly love getting brunch on a weekend morning, and this restaurant was just mediocre at best. It's very small inside and we sat up at the counter. Our bill was $20, for food that was simply okay. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't need to return and would rather try a new place. We visited Annie's for brunch on a Sunday in November. It was extremely disappointing: the food was mediocre and expensive for what it was and the place not very clean. Salmon benedict was super-salty, the fries in my son's fish and chips were anaemic, and the stack of pancakes truly disgusting, redolent of fake vanilla. Brunch for three cost $58 and I felt it was a total waste of money. We wanted so much to enjoy the meal that we persuaded ourselves it was ok and did not complain (feel silly about that now, usually I don't mind complaining). So naturally we didn't have enough to pay and had to use the stupid ATM which is conveniently located right up against the bathroom bar (so work fast!) and just happens to spit out the money right onto the floor. On top of that, you're stuck with the ATM charge. Fine, if you don't want to implement the CC system at least cover the ATM fee! Might not seem like a big deal but it really pissed me off. Pros: A GREAT deal for a GREAT dinner! Cons: Waitstaff seemed somewhat 'green'. Determined not to pay the $20-something for parking that mostly everywhere along the main strip charged, we were lucky enough to find Annie's with a sign by the door stating that Annie's was "now serving dinner". Nowhere was this more apparent than with the waitstaff. While our waitress was friendly enough, her demeanor was timid & she was unable to answer a couple of simple questions we had about some of the items on the menu. A basic training or briefing by a manager/chef/owner would have easily remedied this. My other gripes with Annie's are minor: A different radio station; while the local MIX station may fit your breakfast and/or lunch crowd, I'm certain there are background music choices that would better suit a dinner mood. The same goes for the utensils; the standard fork & spoon you'd see at most diners/coffee shops are fine for the breakfast & lunch crowd, however they seemed a bit flimsy and cheap alongside our dinners. Again both of these aren't major complains, though I feel they are both valid suggestions. Unfortunately since my gf is not a big fan of seafood the only option we had for an appetizer that wasn't seafood was chicken fingers, which was more of a 'pub food' choice compared to the main courses. Speaking of which... She chose the Filet Mignon Au Poivre and I had the Swordfish. The waitress had to come back a couple times since she had forgotten to ask some crucial questions, such as what we wanted for sides, etc. Again the waitstaff was pleasant enough, they just seemed somewhat unfamiliar or untrained with some standard dinner protocol. For example, when our food arrived she neglected to come by a minute after to check if everything was alright and to see if we needed anything else (which we did). The saving grace to all of this was the food. Everything was absolutely delicious & cooked to perfection. The corn was already buttered just the right amount. The mashed potatoes seemed to be 'homemade' & were tasty. The Filet Mignon was cooked to the perfect consistency both inside & out and the Swordfish was tender & moist. The best part was that the portions were perfect. While most American restaurants seem to go with 'quantity over quality', here the opposite held true. This left us plenty of room for dessert. We were pleased with our choice of the Creme Brulee, which left us with a sweet smile on our lips. In a nutshell, if you're looking for an excellent yet affordable meal in the Newport area, Annie's is definitely worth a stop. read more

Charge me a fee , a % or charge more for your food but please start taking cards for payment.
