We recently moved to the area and decided to give Jax Diner a try--what a great find! The coffee came out strong and bold, just how I like it. My favorite dish had to be the omelet--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The French toast was spot-on, golden on the outside and soft on the inside. I'd recommend ordering the sausage gravy on the side; it's a little greasy, but the flavor is absolutely worth it. The potatoes were another highlight--crispy and seasoned just right. The diner itself isn't huge, but that adds to the cozy, welcoming feel. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, which really sealed the deal for us.

You may know this from earlier reviews, but in case not, I'm on a search for the world's best biscuits and gravy. Until yesterday morning, the holder of that title was 3 Monkeys in Richmond, Virginia. That title changed hands at the bar at Jax Diner yesterday in Middletown, RI. The man running the food, I think his name is John (my apologies if memory fails me!), is a force, in both a physical and epicurean sense. He towers o er the grill with a presence and makes the best sausage gravy I have ever tasted, and that is saying something. I practically ignored everything else on that considerable plate of food because I didn't dare leave a scrap of the biscuit and gravy! It's that good. Title worthy good. It's made to order too - yup, you heard that right. When I sat down and told the server that this was my first time there, the local guy to my left chuckled and said, without looking up from his plate, "it won't be his last." When our eyes met, I saw the truth with no words exchanged, that I had found my way accidentally into the club of Jax believers, those who truly understood what makes it great there. And now I do too. Go find the secret - it's at Jax, a cool little humble diner doing great things. Enjoy!

Would love to try again sometime, but they unfortunately don't post their updated or edited hours anywhere. Drove all the way here because there were no special labor day hours on their website, instagram, or phone voicemail (tried to call a couple times) just to find a piece of paper taped to their door saying closed....Disappointing!

Stopped here on way home from Newport, RI for breakfast. AWESOME! The menu has so many great choices. Small, local diner that was absolutely a good call for food. The owner, Michael and his staff are so in tune with prepping, cooking and serving a delicious breakfast. I had a great talk with his mom who happened to be there. Another reason I stopped; my dog is named Jax! So needless to say it was a great experience all around. I even got a tee shirt and took a picture with my dog in front of their sign; Jax the dog at Jax Diner!!! Love it

Great customer service but so worth the wait. Pretty small inside seating so keep that in mind, there might be a wait. Ordered brunch burger, blueberry pancake, and burrito. Everything was flavorful, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Give this place a go!

Watched my kid play a youth sports game down the street and after I searched local breakfast this place popped up. When I pulled up I saw a trailer and thought what was I thinking. I walked in and saw it was a restaurant style diner which was pretty cool looking. The kitchen right in front of the bar so you can see everything being cooked. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and hash brown due to the time I had available. I wasn't expecting much but boy was I surprised. The everything bagel was so flavorful it was amazing. The hash browns had a perfect hint of seasoning. My kid had hand battered fresh chicken tenders. The fires were hand cut. I wish this place wasn't so far away or I would go multiple times a week!

A standard, run of the mill diner. Service was friendly, seating area was spacious, and they have stools at the counter if you're eating alone. The one thing I did like is that they offered chorizo as one of the breakfast meats. The breakfast potatoes were fine, and the omelette was typical. Prices were moderate.

This is an absolute GEM! We were a party of two and were a little worried about finding a quick table since this place is so tiny when we stopped in for a Sunday breakfast. We were seated immediately! This is a place for small groups (2s and 3s), anything larger might expect a bit of a wait. They do have some outdoor seating for the summer. We got the Eagles Nest (eggs Benedict with corned beef hash), the Workin' Man (eggs, biscuits, and sausage gravy), and split a pancake. I have been dreaming about these sausage and biscuits since I ate them because they were so buttery and amazing. Cannot recommend highly enough! We ordered a plain pancake but the kitchen accidentally made their special pumpkin. They were going to remake it for us but we said we were happy to have that one. It was packed with spices and very tasty. The servers were all lovely and welcoming. I absolutely LOVED this place. We live across the state but we will make the trip to be back, it's worth it!

People use the term "best breakfast of my life" a little too often in this day and age. Know that when I say that, I mean it. Best breakfast of my life.

    Breakfast was Delicious.

Pleasant environment and the smell of deliciousness. The staff were extremely polite and efficient with service. The cook should be on Hell's Kitchen. It was something to watch. Every place I seen make I wanted to try. I should gotten one of those giant pancakes. Go there, you won't be disappointed or hungry after you're done.

Hall of fame sandwich - breakfast crunch wrap.

Home of an all time breakfast sandwich. The breakfast crunch wrap is easily in top 1% of breakfast sandwiches out there. Service was great! Great experience and great environment. all around! Highly recommend.

Have visited twice now - once to dine in and another to get takeout. The food is very good! Excellent diner food. Their pancakes are PHENOMENAL. The portions of meat are generous and the bagels are good quality. I didn't love their iced tea (too bitter for my taste) or their home fries (plain fried potatoes, no seasonings). It's a bit more expensive than other places. The restaurant is small and appears to only accommodate one larger party at a time. Service was very friendly both visits!

There's plenty of seating and a fun tiki bar that opens in the summertime. For lunch, I got the wild berry iced tea and the breakfast bowl. My sister got the tea and avocado toast. Portion sizes are small, and at cafe prices. The avocado toast was super disappointing... it was one slice of bread, a smear of avocado, and about a quarter cup of chopped up tomatoes. I put more butter on my toast than the amount of avocado this one had. It's a great local spot, but be warned about the food/prices.

Tucked away in what was obviously once a domestic house and carefully transformed into a welcoming café, Kaffeology in Portsmouth feels like a well-kept secret. Although you can still feel the bones of the house, the conversion is tactful and sensitive, and the flow is surprisingly good for a coffee shop. It's the type of location where you naturally speak more quietly - not because you have to, but rather because the ambiance encourages serenity. The almond croissant went well with a well-pulled espresso and was fragrant and crunchy without being too sugary. The fact that Mrs. K. gave her latte the thumbs up is no small accomplishment. The sitting, both indoors and out, was varied enough to accommodate a short visit or a long morning, and the service was friendly yet unobtrusive. With just enough individuality in the décor to be well-curated without being fussy, the area exudes a subtle charm. Kaffeology is worth the trip if you're traveling through Aquidneck Island and need a restorative, rather than hurried, break. It aims to be terrific rather than trendy, and that's just what makes it memorable. [Review 1087 of 2025 - 90 in Rhode Island - 24641 overall]

We took her advice and yes this place was quaint, inviting and very busy but it was a holiday in A historic Newport! We waited briefly to sit outdoors in the bright morning sun which was very close to the 12 O'Clock time! We did sit for a long while before being approached even for coffee or welcoming us but we all understood it was busy for 1 to handle maybe 7 tables that were filled! But, at some point I had to get up and go inside to politely say we had been waiting longer than one should expect! A moment or two our waitress came to take our beverage order and then after enjoying our coffee she came to take our Breakfast order, I chose the Holiday Special Omelette, which were two listed! The Shrimp and Prosciutto Omelette with Avocado sounded Amazing so that was my Choice! We all ordered! When it all arrived we took photos of each and they all looked very tasty! Anticipating my breakfast I delved into my Omelette and ate a bite and it was very tasty, took another bite still very tasty.....I paused and wondered " Where is the Shrimp and Prosciutto and Avocado?" I told my family member, I don't see either, we joked she said "maybe it's chopped... ". So, I flagged the waitress and asked her if this is what I ordered and she said, " She made a mistake thinking there were only one Special Omelette and apologized and will have one made immediately! I said Ok, she left and we joked about the Staff and then THE OMELETTE ARRIVED! It was spectacular looking and even better tasting! Unfortunately, my family already finished but it was OK! We sat still enjoying more coffee and then without being aware accidentally spilled coffee on my families slacks but we chose NOT to mention it! The employee who served us was very accommodating and friendly. She answered any questions we had with no issues. I ended up ordering a leek quiche and chai tea latte. The total for two drinks, a quiche, and a sandwich came out to $56. Definitely way too pricey to do this often. The food came out quickly. My latte was delicious but for $8 it should be.
