Any…read morerestaurant that has made it this long must have the winning formula of good food, service and value. I was in the Vallejo area, and saw House of Soul on Yelp. It was 1.5 miles away, but closing in less than an hour. I decided to go by and see it they were still serving. I wasn't really expecting much 45 mins before closing. I parked right in front, and saw they were cleaning up the dining room. So I asked the young lady if they were still open, and she said "Yes, c'mon in!" I ordered the fried chicken combo meal with mac 'n cheese and green beans. Total was $20.04. I thought it was funny that they price it at $20.04. It would actually look better if it was $19.99. How was the food? I was surprised. 35 mins before closing, and the fried chicken was still moist with a spicy heat to the flavor. The skin was lightly crisp. The mac 'n cheese was creamy. The green beans were just okay. The food was being kept in warmers. There's nothing wrong with keeping food in warmers as long as holding times are observed and proper temps are maintained. As I left both the young lady and the server thanked me for coming. Next time, I will have to return at around dinner time. Support Local Business in the SF Bay Area!

Staff were friendly and food came out fast. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but definitely has a chill, modern take to it. Overall, food is delicious and pricing is fair, definitely would come back again!

She is always so patient with my family and I when we order our food. Sometimes it takes the 7 of us time to decide on what we want because we love eating here. The food is extremely tasty and always cooked so well! The prices are affordable if tou stick to one dish per person but sometimes thats hard for my family and I to do LOL- we're "big backs" . Anyhow, the ambiance isnt my favorite but its always clean and a safe space to sit and eat. Love me some K Manna

I don't think it's on their take-out menu, but somehow I was able to locate it. Imagine lean, tender short ribs simmered in a clear broth, served with clear noodles. No need to spruce it up, as it is already flavored perfectly. I would say, it's the closest thing to homemade, without being homemade. The only downside is if you order on Door Dash, they don't tell you that the restaurant closes from 4pm to 4:30pm. But having had to wait outside in the cold, only made the soup that much better.

The wings were fried to perfection where the outside was crispy but the inside was so juicy and tender. But I didn't care for the glaze (which I believe is their "garlic soy glaze"), because it had a strong mustard flavor, which I totally didn't expect from the name. I was really expecting a savory and garlicky soy sauce flavor that would be balanced with a hint of sweetness. So the mustard flavor really took me by surprise and I wasn't a fan - If I had known they used mustard in that glaze, I wouldn't have ordered it. Service was nice and quite fast. I liked how after we placed our order, they pre-warned us that it might take them 20 mins to prepare the wings, although it turned out to be faster than 20 mins, which we appreciated :) The restaurant looks small from the outside but is so spacious on the inside. the restaurant was clean and organized.

Omgggg deliciousssss. I've had this from other Chinese restaurants but this one tastes a hell of a lot better than all the other ones. They make it so fresh that it's hard not to eat while driving. My husbands family are all from the south. At the last party, his 78 year old grandma cried saying "it's just like daddy used to make it". She immediately told her sister. I wish they had another location. Had to coordinate to have this picked up coming from Fairfield. Ambiance- not much ambiance here. Very straight forward. No sit down area, everything is to go. The area is not the best so I can't fault them to keeping it to the essentials of food business. I grew up in Vallejo and coming here used to not feel unsafe but unfortunately it is what it is now. Still, very good customer service here.

I would have like it to have a little more flavor in the mix a little more black pepper could have given it that extra pinch of flavor. But overall it was cooked to perfection and not oily at all. It's your little hole in the wall joint that has good size servings when you want quick cheap Chinese. I want to try the walnut shrimp next time. I had my husband and baby waiting for me in the car so I only got what they had available. Definitely would try it again if I'm back in the area.

Just about everything here is made to order (fish, wings, pretty much the whole menu), so patience is part of the deal when ordering at the counter. If you're in a hurry, calling ahead or using DoorDash is always an option. For lunch, I ordered a 2-piece catfish with collard greens and candied yams to dine in, plus a chicken wing and fish combo with fries to go. One thing I really appreciated was that they didn't fry the to-go order at the same time as my dine-in meal. That meant everything was piping hot and fresh when I walked out the door. The catfish is my usual go-to and it never disappoints -- perfectly fried, well seasoned, and consistent every time. The kind of seasoning that makes you feel like someone's uncle back there is cooking from the soul. The collard greens are tender, flavorful, and always hit the spot. And the candied yams? Honestly more like dessert than a side -- sweet, comforting, and absolutely worth ordering. Yes, it can feel a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and flavor make it worth it.

And no corn bread after we asked for it in our order instead 2 slices of bread one for each order we could not make a fish sandwich with that . In some ways, finding a great new restaurant is like finding a great new love affair…read more When you 1st hear of a place, your interest in stirred,When you see pics or videos of the food,it's like the butterflies one gets when infatuation begins. When you finally arrive at the restaurant and the food is everything you thought and hoped it would be,you get this smile that never goes away, just like a great romance. Finally when you think back to the time you spent at a restaurant and the joy and happiness it brought,it's similar to reminiscing about a beautiful time spent with a loved one. 3 Star restaurant in Vallejo is my latest love affair. I first heard about this place on social media when a few prominent food bloggers reviewed this spot and said their wings were the best wings outside of the legendary wing spot located in San Francisco. So I watched the videos and saw the pictures and I was truly excited to try them out. Well Mothers Day rolled around this year and I needed to bring an appetizer to my mothers party we were having that day in American Canyon & the idea of finally trying out their legendary dish was my entire focus. Driving down from Sacramento to get this dish wasn't the easiest of drives on a holiday but I was determined. I called my order in and as the saying goes, the worst the service the better the food-well I was pretty sure my food was going to be legendary based on that phone call. I ended up ordering both the Garlic Sauce Wings($15.95) and the Salt & Pepper Wings($15.95) This restaurant shares a decent sized parking lot with multiple tenants-so parking is not an issue. The neighborhood isn't the best part of Vallejo but I haven't had any issues yet with car security during my visits. When I arrived the restaurant was pretty busy but I noticed a worker had a full table that was full just for To-Go orders and I walked up to her and she handed me my receipt so I could go up to the cashier and pay. 5 minutes later I was in my car totally engrossed with the smell of this amazing chicken. I consider myself a true chicken wing expert and when I say these wings were pure flavor bliss-I truly mean it. The garlic sauce wings were a mix of sweet and savory and garlic with a slight spice-a wet wing experience that makes my mouth water just thinking back on. The salt and pepper wings were perfectly seasoned and a bite of that wing paired with the onion and Jalapeno toppings that come with the dish, can only be described as pure excellence. The chef truly has mastered the recipe and cooking technique on both of these dishes. Fun fact-due to various events in my life,I've had to drive to the Bay Area a few times since Mothers Day-I've been to this restaurant three times now in less than a week-I would say the love affair with this restaurant is burning quite hot at the moment.

Unfortunately for me, the wings were actually really good. Now I got to come back for it. They're…read moresuper busy because they blew up on social media for their garlic sauce chicken wings. To be fair, I've never had San Tung's wings before. Now I have to try to compare them. Family owned so if you come late, they're pretty backordered from dine in, but primarily takeout it seems. The sauce is soy sauce based - salty goodness. Wish there was actually some heat (there are chili peppers, but not spicy at all). Felt like it was more decorative since it didn't add any flavor... Onions are great, wish there were more as well. Rice is charged per person, so they just gave us a bowl - presumably you can refill? We also tried the honey walnut prawns, which were okay. Not a ton of shrimp but reasonably priced. Leaned more on the tangy mayo side than sweet, would probably try something different next time instead to accompany the wings.
