Visited Saltgrass Steak House for our Beef Team pre-race dinner before the Austin Marathon and it was the perfect spot to fuel up for a pre-race meal. When I arrived, there was plenty of parking available. They had a private room space reserved for our group. The servers were friendly and attentive to our needs. They brought out complimentary bread and butter, which was served warm and fresh. We had a prefix menu to choose from which consisted of a salad, petite filet and a side item. I ordered the Caesar salad and filet cooked rare with flash fried green beans and paired it with a mezcal cocktail. The filet that I was served was a bit smaller than others, but my filet was cooked as requested and topped with butter. The filet was tender and exactly the protein I needed before race day. The green beans were so flavorful and had the perfect texture. The Smokey and the Bramble cocktail featured Fósforo Ensamble Mezcal, Bombay Sapphire Gin, lemon juice, blackberry purée, and club soda. It was a very refreshing and flavorful craft cocktail that paired well with my meal. Great atmosphere for a group dinner and the service kept everything moving smoothly for our team. The Seafood Fondeaux was excellent, easily the standout of the night, but the garlic bread situation was baffling. When we needed more, it was brought without hesitation -- and then quietly added to the bill. If the ratio of fondue to bread is that mismatched, maybe adjust the portioning instead of nickel‑and‑diming guests for something that should accompany the dish in the first place. The steaks were a consistent miss. A New York Strip ordered medium rare came out closer to medium, and both the bone‑in ribeye and the filet followed the same pattern. The flavor was fine, but every cut was cooked past the requested doneness, which defeats the point of ordering specific temperatures at a steakhouse. The chicken fried chicken was decent but forgettable, with the texture of something that spent a little too long under a heat lamp while the steaks were being overcooked. Nothing about it stood out. Aside from the amazing fondue, nothing reached the level of exceptional -- and in a city surrounded by genuinely great steakhouses, this felt like exactly what my associates expected when they pushed for a chain instead. And since this is another Landry's property, I'm already prepared for the standard corporate message they paste under every non‑glowing review. ​Do NOT trust the Saltgrass location on Research Blvd (Austin, TX) with your order. ​My family of 5 is on vacation staying at the Home2 Suites near The Domain without a vehicle. After not eating all day, we ordered a late-night dinner via Grubhub around 9:14 PM: the Family Meal with Large Chicken Tenders, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli, Salad, and a Seafood Fondeaux. ​When the driver arrived, the entire main course--the tenders--was missing. When I called the store to figure out what happened, the staff hung up on me twice. When I finally got ahold of someone, the employee admitted the tenders were sitting right there on their counter because they forgot to hand them to the driver. ​Instead of taking accountability and making it right, the employee told us we could come pick them up. When I explained we didn't have a car, he flatly said it was "too far" for them to bring it to us and told us to just get a refund from Grubhub. ​A refund doesn't feed a family. By the time this unfolded, every other decent food option nearby was closed. Thanks to this store's complete negligence, rude staff, and lack of care, my family--including my children--had to go to bed hungry on our vacation. Absolutely disgraceful service. Salads were mostly iceberg. My Salmon Oscar was cooked to kiln-dried pine 2x4 density, and the lump crab topping was mostly gluely mayonnaise with hardly any crab. Cheesecake was OK but served with sour, tiny mango chunks rather than sweet slices (wasted garnish). Not worth the price. I'm not a big steak guy (prefer steaks at Korean, Brazilian, or Mexican grills), so their choices were not for me, especially the pictures of wet toppings on puffy steaks. I made a reservation for a party of 12 for a thank you, job well done, and farewell celebration for two of our employees. Adrian was our server and he was friendly, professional, and spot on with every detail. Everyone enjoyed the variety of appetizers, the drinks, and their dinner. It was a great time and we were able to relax and enjoy the evening. I didn't receive a single complaint from anyone who attended. My only complaint is when I booked it, I requested extra room. When we walked in the 12 chairs, 6 on each side of the tables were nearly touching side by side so I knew we didn't have or get the extra room needed and requested. I knew it was too tight and one of the managers quickly resolved it by adding an additional small table. After that, everyone was seated comfortably. I'm a big fan of Saltgrass Steak House because no matter which one I visit, the steaks are consistently well cooked and seasoned. They are part of the Landry's group so you can become a Landry's member and get points for visits. The servers are consistently good at their jobs and everyone in a Saltgrass steak house is constantly hustling. This location is no different. Another meal well done! I love their lunch options with smaller portions and their happy hours have great drink specials. They have prime rib on certain days and it's some of the best I've had and I really love the way they prepare their brussels sprouts. After my last few days of battling allergies, I wanted some comfort food. Like a miracle, I received rewards today from Landry's from prior purchases that could be used at Saltgrass steakhouse. So, my hubby and I decided to use the rewards at their Happy Hour in the "No Bull Lounge." We barely made it in time for the Happy Hour by the hair of our chin chin chin, which is in full force Mon-Fri, 3pm-7 pm. Their Happy Hour prices are very reasonable. We ordered cheese fries, fried mushrooms and crab cakes...a large quantity of food. We ordered one pomegranate mojito also...according to Bobby, the bartender, was super popular. After eating one crab cake and few mushrooms, I felt extremely full. My hubby loved the cheese fries and ate the majority of the fries. The food came fast and hot. All the items were tasty and plentiful. Most of the food had to be packed for home. Saltgrass has some super interesting restrooms. For example, on the outside door it says cowgirls. However, when you leaving the women's restroom on the inside door it says cowboys. Imagine having a few drinks and coming out the restroom. You might get just a little turned around and think your mind is playing tricks on you. Saltgrass Steak House is a cool venue. It is heavy on the cowboy and country theme. In addition, you get that down home Southern hospitality vibe. We will definitely come back to explore more of their menu items. read more

I love this place and don't have a single bad damn thing to say about it. It's a fantastic American style steakhouse at more affordable prices but great quality. The service is always so lovely, the servers are so friendly and polite and super super on top of it. I feel extremely taken care of here. The food is always spot on - the star of the show is the bone in ribeye for me. With the mushroom and butter and green beans/mashed potatoes.... Yum! Also... the bbq ribs. Incredible!!! My wife and child took me out to dinner for Fathers day as the actual day we work. They choose a steak house as I enjoy a good steak but cost and the fact neither of them like steak we rarely go. The service was good. I got a cajun steak with shrimp and crawfish and mashed potatoes. Shana got Redfish and M got Chicken. My steak wasn't cajun enough for me but it was good otherwise. The potatoes were fantastic and the crawfish was good. The others enjoyed their food. The shiner bread to start was tasty. The best part were the cocktails. Shana and I had two different ones and M got one. I got a frozen crown and coke which was delightful and a bourbon old fashioned that was good. I think things could have been much better. After hearing about this location from a local organization, I had better expectations of this steakhouse as a place to celebrate. The service was friendly but we were charged for an expensive drink we didn't order twice. The steak was unevenly cooked. That was a new low to me and I see why it's not good. The staff worsened the ambiance by standing around nearby before clocking out or something. And sweeping/vacuuming next to diners really destroyed the mood or what was left of it. I had a late birthday dinner with extended family here at a 5:15pm reservation. The staff was surprisingly young, yet dressed very well as usual. I only go to Saltgrass for the $25 Landry's discount every year (given on one's birthday) and I can't ever find a reason to go solo as it is the most overpriced steak chain in existence. I got the 10oz sirloin medium well (because I know they like to undercook their steaks here, at least in my experience), grilled shrimp, and brussel sprouts. It was all delicious, nothing special. Our server disappeared for a long time and we all sat without water for about 25 minutes. Other than that, she was wonderful. This location has some great staff and they were attentive and took care of us very well. I was impressed with the ambiance inside and how it stuck to the theme of a steakhouse, it wasn't too busy and you can really focus on the food and the people you're dining with. In terms of food, I got the Center-Cut Top Sirloin with Smoked Mac and Cheese, and the Caesar Salad. Everything was tasty and delicious! Upon arriving at this Saltgrass Steakhouse on 10614 Research boulevard on August 1st at noon, we were greeted right away and sat quickly. The place didn't look that busy. Our server was Ervin who seemed nice. He took our drink order quickly and brought out our drinks quickly. I told him I was celiac and couldn't have gluten. He asked if I wanted bread. I asked if he had gluten free bread (since the other Saltgrass Steakhouses always offer the gluten free bread). He said it would just be a gluten free bun. I said that was fine. A few minutes later, a guy brought some bread to our table. I assumed it was gluten free since I had mentioned I had Celiac. I ate some. Then a few minutes later, our server, Ervin, came back to mention my gluten free bread would be out soon. I said someone already brought my bread and was that not the gluten free bread to which he said no and said some of the other guys get too quick with the bread. He asked if I ate some of that bread and I said yes. He just said sorry and that was about it although it did not seem genuine and like he wasn't bothered at all. Ervin took our order. I order the grilled chicken strips, mashed potatoes, and potato soup from the gluten free menu. My husband had the patty melt with truffle fries. It took about twenty minutes to get our food. My soup was incredibly peppery. All I could taste was the black pepper. My grilled chicken and mashed potatoes were good and my husband liked his meal. When we got the bill (another server brought it to us), I noticed that I was charged $1.99 for gluten free bread. This has been the only Saltgrass to charge for it. The other ones I have been to never charge. Anyway, after the nonchalant attitude to me being celiac, the too peppery soup, and the wait time, we won't be back to this Saltgrass location. read more

There were some awkward seats, one person sitting with a column blocking their chair but we made it work. The food was ok. Multiple appetizers for the table, I remember fried onions and mushrooms and forget the third one. My salmon was dry, the Brussels sprouts were great. It's not a good sign when the side is the star and everything else is forgettable. Service was agonizingly slow. At one point everyone had empty drinks, the meals were being served and our server was nowhere to be seen. I absolutely love Sawgrass, and it is one of my favorite steakhouses. It does have a country Texas vibe to it, and I love the decor, very cowboy-ish. I absolutely love Pat, ribeye as it is very flavorful and their sides are pretty tasteful. They are shiner bread with butter is amazing and I've also gotten their salmon and crabcakes with the steak at times. Absolutely delicious and the buttery flavor that they add on the steak makes it juicier. I also love the music in the background and ambience. The Saltgrass Steak House on Hwy. 183 in North Austin is always one of my favorites. Yesterday as I visited with friends I received the immediate greeting and fine seating. The waiter was attentive and well informed. I, however, rather than ordering steak and shrimp as usual, selected beef tips. The plate was delivered quickly and attractively and was very tasty. There was only one negative. The beef tips were mostly gristle. On my next return, I will revert to my usual selection which is always wonderful. Things like this just happen occasionally. We haven't been here in maybe 15 years but I can tell you that nothing has changed, it felt old, it even smelled stale to me. We were happy to have a reservation on Thanksgiving and the service was good, but we won't be back. I did hate that they stuck us in the middle of this weird square that didn't feel like part of the dining room. We were right by the kitchen so there was lots of traffic so we would have loved to be in by the fireplace. Where we sat was bright, like we weren't supposed to be there, the other part of the restaurant does seem more inviting so maybe ask to sit by the fireplace Both my husband and I had a filet, they were terrible, we called it steak gum. The fried cheese was still cold on the middle. My son's burger was so dry he couldn't even eat it, even when threatened. The kids pizzas were terrible too, mostly sauce and dry bread sprinkled with cheese.
