I have a hard time only rating this 3 stars, I loved my dish, the cinnamon roll french toast. My boyfriend liked his dish too, one of the omelettes and our server was really, really great. But the hostess was a nightmare, the wait was ridiculous, the layout was more of a bar feel and the price was a joke. They do have cool customized location mugs...for 18 dollars. It's a waste of money to eat here and with the unfriendly girls up front I can't imagine I would return anytime soon. If they replaced all the hostesses and dropped the price (we paid almost 40 dollars before tip for 2 main dishes, a side of home fries and a cup of coffee, totally over priced) this would be a main staple for me, of course when catering to the wealthy and the privileged Greekies from UA I guess you can get away with any price you want. read more

I'm with Kasi S (who describes her experience with the hostess as a "nightmare"). We have also had a terrible experience with the staff here. Basically, the hostess either forgot us and/or gave us a pager that didn't work, so we waited forever. I understand that sometimes these things happen, and it doesn't have to be a big deal-- when you check in with the hostess when you suspect something like that has happened, she just says something like, "oh I'm so sorry-- I will move your name right to the top!" This girl did not do this. She was really nasty and curt and did not apologize. We also watched other people get seated who had arrived after us. In the meantime, we watched a couple wait 30 minutes for their brunch. I thought they were just taking up the table and lingering after their meal-- but they had been waiting on their food! For THIRTY MINUTES. The seating here might be problematic as well. From the looks of it, most if not all of their tables are four tops, so that means when it's slammed, there are a bunch of tables for four with only two people at them, while couples are waiting. The food is good but too $$$, and the mgmt needs to figure out some logistics, including how to train their staff to use manners. Next time we will go to Five or Chucks, which are also pricey, but overall a MUCH more pleasant experience. read more

I'll start out by saying that my boyfriend and I come here every Sunday for our regular Sunday brunch and have never had a problem UNTIL today.... I began to order my usual hot chocolate and after waiting about 10 minutes it came out. No whipped cream or chocolate sauce. I asked our server, Dawson: " Can I please have the whip cream?" After reminding our server 3 times and by the time I got it my hot chocolate was cold... Then, we ordered the sweet potato pancake, which we assumed was gluten free. I can't have gluten because I'm allergic and once it came out I asked if it was gluten and he said no. THE SERVER EVEN ASSUMED THAT IT WAS!!!! So, we get the pancake and it was made from flour. Our server never asked if we wanted to exchange it for something else or anything of that sort. The check came. It had the pancake on it. I'm not one of those people at all that wants free things, but when there is something that you physically can't eat not because you don't like it but because your allergic than you should compensate or bring them something else. After asking, "can you please take this off?" Our server rolled his eyes and asked his manager. The manager didn't bother to come over and ask us about what happened. Overall the is horrible service. I'm super disappointed with our experience today. Needless to say Another Broken Eggs's service was a bit broken today. This is a solid place to get brunch on the weekend in Tuscaloosa on the Black Warrior Riverfront. This location has a friendly staff, a tempting bar in the center of the restaurant, and delicious food in hefty servings. I had brunch recently with a friend at this location. It was quite refreshing to eat with the lovely Black Warrior River on a beautiful sunny day as the backdrop to the restaurant's stylish interior. We ordered coffee, the Crabcakes Cavallo (it comes with jumbo lump crab cakes, two poached eggs, infused hollandaise, diced red bell peppers, green onions, and seasoned country potatoes sans the andouille sausage), and the Shrimp 'n Grits (which comes with shrimp and andouille sausage sauté, spicy low country reduction sauce, sautéed red bell peppers & onions on creamy cheese grits with garlic French bread). Each dish was thoroughly delicious and the serving size was quite large. We had to take the remaining portions in to-go boxes. We are visiting from out of town and seen on Yelp it had good reviews so decided to check it out. We waited about 20 min to be seated but it seemed to go by much faster as there is a nice river behind the restaurant that you can walk along and walk on the river deck. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We were traveling with a small child and our server even offered to bring out his food before ours came out (extra brownie points). We had the Crab Eggs Benedict and the Southwest skillet both were delicious. The place was also very clean. We will make this a permanent stop next time we're in town. read more

If you're looking for a good breakfast stop that has healthier options than the other meat + 3's in Tuscaloosa, ABEC is a solid choice. The food here is always cooked with good ingredients and care. I usually get the Huevos Rancheros and am always happy. Their service also seems to always be friendly and on their game. You know they're busy, but they seem to carry it well. Their only downfall is the amazing wait that you will 100% most certainly experience. They do provide you with newspapers, but after an hour of sitting on the steps outside you read every newspaper article twice. They should possibly provide coffee or something to their waiting guests to help calm them down, as that would go a long way early in the morning! read more

The first thing to know about this restaurant is that it is extremely overpriced. Drinks such as mimosas are 6 dollars for a tiny glass and French toast without any sides was 10 dollars. It's pricey but they do actually give you a decent amount of food. The wait is generally very long, the three times I've gone it's been over an our wait for 3 people. The last two times I've eaten here, my friends and I have had rather unprofessional and inattentive waitresses. This may be due to the fact that I look rather young, which is always annoying since I generally get poor service at sit down restaurants for this reason. All in all, the food is good but overpriced. The worst service, and racialist. We got on the waiting list at 9:50 and then waited until 12:28 when the ready message arrived. But the hostess had told us only 1 and half hours to 2 hours needed. At 11:50, we asked the hostess how long we would still wait, since 2 hours past. She said: " 2 and half hours." with a very mean face. Although she didn't know we were on the list, however, I am sure she was nice and kind to a white guy who was in front us and told him 1 and half hours to 2 hours for waiting. In my opinion, the reason of having breakfast outside is of getting better service and nice vibe. Everyone can fry eggs and omelettes with their own taste. Beautiful location,clean restaurant however I placed a Togo order of 1 pancake and a side of bacon. When I arrived the total was over 9 dollars. I asked and was told it was right so giving the benefit of a doubt I let it go until I got home and discovered 2 pancakes and bacon and they weighed a TON. We've been to this restaurant several times and the service has always been poor. It's in a nice location overlooking the Black Warrior. Staff are slow, they aren't good at seating, refilling drinks, or sticking around to make sure your food is okay. The food is just okay overall. This place has the location. It has the atmosphere. It has the reputation. However, please go elsewhere if you are trying to get some down home cookin' on a Sunday morning. I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and with each time, my experience went down hill. Let's get down to the knitty gritty. The mimosas? They are about $7 each for a standard Snifter glass. Trust me, there are other places in town that offer bottomless mimosas for double that, do the math. I suppose we should talk about the food. Well, it is okay. I use to rave about the Salmon Benny until I started getting egg shells and a cooked yolk (really?). My second favorite dish was the steak and lobster benny, which was the final straw. It had a beautiful presentation, with absolutely no taste. No taste. I asked my fellow foodies to taste my meal, just to make sure my taste buds had not gone rogue. However, they could not taste any distinction of flavor. On this same outing, my friend had a hair in her food. It makes me sad to write this because as I have said before, the location is wonderful and the service is pretty good. The wait was long. The food took even longer but it was all worth it until the salted Carmel coffee drink came out. Literally margarita salt rimmed on an ice coffee with cream. God awful!
