Let me start by saying working with Deliah and Ezra was great. They were as helpful as they could possibly have been. This is an old story, but the consequences of what was done was only recently discovered. However, if you have an architect design your home, you cannot trust ANR to follow the architect's directions. I lost my split-level home in the Powerhouse Fire in 2013. Significant water intrusion into the home has been the cause of the delay in receiving my certificate of occupancy. The issue has not been the roof. I never thought to look for exterior damage (nor did my water intrusion consultant). The newly discovered problem is the gutter work which becomes evident during a rain. The plans indicated by Square 10, have 2 gutters. One is centered at the bottom of the mono-pitched roof & one is placed on the far left. When ANR did the roofing and gutter work in 2017, they eliminated the center gutter. I brought this to their attention. We went back and forth multiple times with the office. I believe the owner was the one who refused to respond. I reported them to the Contractor's License Board. Ultimately, because I had shingles blowing off the roof, which were not covered by their warranty, I agreed to drop the gutter issue if they would replace the missing shingles, which they did. After a 2-year lawsuit involving 5 other contractors/subcontractors, we began repairing the extensive damage to our home. What was discovered during the November rains, well after the lawsuit, is that the water directed by the gutter hits the top of the retaining wall, spills backwards down the wall, and seeps into the overhang ceiling. There is a close-up of the crack in the ceiling overhang. All of the dark areas in the ceiling are water saturation indications. The video still shot is water pouring down the wall. The other photo shows the gutter configuration and placement at the top of the wall. The architect design is questionable, but the execution lay with the subcontractors (ANR) doing the gutter work. The architect never designed the full velocity of the entire roof to spill into one gutter. ANR, as the professionals, needed to execute the plans as indicated, and if an issue needed to be brought up regarding the design, they needed to let us know. As it was, they did neither. Had them put in new gutters years ago. They put one gutter right next to the house which defeats the purpose of the gutter. Supposed to have it away from the side of the house. Another gutter was supposed to go around the water heater and it looks so crooked and janky. When i asked them to fix it they did a sloppy job and also used a completely different color gutter. Never again would i use this company for gutter replacement. i find myself having to pay someone else to redo this work now. read more

I want to be clear that I think Ezra, Nicole, Edgar, Eli, and Malachi were honest and tried very hard. However, they never were able to fix our roof after one year of attempts. But the real beef is with the owner, Andy Chavez, who tried to deflect any blame. Read the other negative reviews. I'm only citing the specific ones among the many where Andy exhibited consistent behavior of trying to deflect the problem away from him. See reviews dated 3/19/22, 5/31/22, 2/12/19, 8/11/15, 3/5/12 as some of the examples. There are also numerous other responses from him for negative reviews where he claims that the reviewer is not in their database, which makes it seem like they either delete their contacts and contracts, or are completely disorganized. After one year of repeated fixes for the exact same problem, our leak was never solved by ANR. And in the end, our last appointment was cancelled because Andy wanted to come inspect it himself, where he claimed that our issue wasn't even a roofing problem that was causing the leak, despite our initial inspection, and the numerous followups, where the workers all felt it was a roofing issue, and a specific one at that. We ended up washing our hands with this company at that point and instead hired Roof Repair Specialists, who came to fix our roof, for the exact same leak successfully. Roof Repair Specialists was great! Use them! Below is a timeline of our frustrating interactions with ANR. These cover the major events, and not numerous additional emails where we received no response. 4/13/23 Initial work. Rained that same day and it leaked in the same area. We're trying to schedule them to fix it again. 4/14/23 Ezra is working on trying to schedule this. 4/24/23 Trying to contact Ezra again about scheduling. 4/25/23 Ezra is working on trying to schedule this for 4/28 or 4/29. They ended up not scheduling us. 6/26/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. They said they will try to schedule for 7/3/23. This didn't happen. 7/20/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. 7/24/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. 8/1/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. 9/5/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. 9/7//23 Ezra is working on trying to schedule this. 9/8/23 ANR came out to try to fix the roof again. 10/2/23 It rained and it's the same leak. 10/3/23 Ezra is trying to schedule. 10/10/23 Contacted Ezra because still not scheduled. ANR put on my roof about 1.5 years ago in Altadena. Since then, we just had the crazy winds and the Eaton fire, which just burned down 80 to 90% of Altadena. My roof is the only one in my neighborhood that I know of that has sustained zero damage. It still looks new. Embers fell on it, 70 to 80 mile an hour winds tore at it. It literally looks like they put it on yesterday (other than the soot and ash). Other than the quality of the roof, they put it up in essentially 2 days, were very easy to work with and answered all my questions. They were able to work in my requests (I wanted a hole to add a vent to the kitchen at a later date). They were not my cheapest quote, but by god you get what you pay for and one thing you don't want to cheap out on is your roof. read more

Some years ago, I had the great fortune of having been referred to ANR by another contractor, so my first connection was random. I have a large house with pitched roofing AND flat roofing. Since I was first connected to Rigo and Aron, they have repaired, installed, modified and upgraded every part of my roofing.They have had to deal with my insurance company, as well, on that first contract, and even the insurance company had high praise for them. For me, every single interaction has been just great. ANR is a father and son operation and they do everything do demonstrate how they know that their family name, and business reputation are at stake. I can say here that years after the first work, everything is tight and strong and pretty on my roofs. Back then, they installed clay tile roofing and it is still beautiful. Recently, I had a leak on the flat part of my roof, which was there long before they came on the scene. Aron came by on short notice, covered the area to mitigate the leak, and as soon as the rain stopped was here installing a flat roof for me, honoring the estimate that he gave me 2 years ago! (yes, I procrastinated). The work ANR does is always professional, orderly, and detailed. I never felt inconvenienced by their presence. The workers are courteous and very respectful of my property. We hired ANR Roofing to replace our main house roof. While their work was fast and price fair the overall experience deserves a failing grade. First, we are first time home owners and I'm of the belief that as people who are uneducated on home improvement projects, you hire a company to inform and educate you on the process, procedures and best way to approach the work being done. Any potential hazards or issues should be brought to light as the customer is not the expert and should understand what comes with the job. To say ANR failed is an understatement. After their job of replacing our roof, we discovered a mess in our attic of roofing debris. All our insulation was covered in a mess that was quite shocking. We had to hire attic cleaners and hvac duct cleaners whom required environmental test and whom said it should have been the responsibility of the roofers to warn us of such matters. All this cost is over $3k in additional work. Even if it is in the contract that such a risk exist, ANR as the experts should have taken the role in guiding/advising us. Second, it was discussed in our walkthrough that one of the rafters contained wood rot. This was not replaced Third, our HVAC unit which sits on our roof, was removed during the work and bolted poorly leaving nuts and bolts sitting in the attic. I did reach out to ANR and they never helped to address these matters. I believe speed is a aspect of their work and as a result overlooked some things and left a mess for us to take care. This is my second review for this business. ANR installed my roof, which leaked the first time it rained. Andy Chavez responded by giving false information. Now several years later I noticed plaster peeling from the ceiling next to my kitchen window & termite droppings on the outside window sill. I called another roofing company to inspect the asphalt shingles above the window. ANR had failed to fill in over 20 holes they made when installing the shingles. Water had infiltrated & caused the damage. I now have to get a termite inspection & hire someone to fix the deteriorated plaster. Hopefully the termites can be spot treated. Just had a section of my roof re-roofed by ANR. It was difficult to get a hold of them at first during my initial inquiry, but it was also during a heavy rain period where all reputable roofers were extremely busy. Once I was able to schedule an estimate, the process was fairly smooth. I had direct contact with my project manager Ezra via email (no direct cell phone though, so not as efficient), and was able to work out details that way. Prices were fair, and Ezra was very patient in answering my questions. My roof was a small project, supposedly, so no complaints there. They were done in half a day. Nice guys, professional. I'm astonished with the way we were treated by Andy at ANR Roofing! After visiting our property last week and completing a contract for a small roofing repair, his team failed to complete the job during the estimated time window. We understand obstacles arise and are open to discussing ways we can meet one another for a win:win situation, and, that is dependent on effective communication! When they didn't show up on the final day of their promised timeframe, I followed up on a text thread to inquire about the issue and their intentions. Andy offered that the "roads were closed" to our property, prohibiting them from reaching the job site. Our property is located on a loop road which is also accessible from 4 points of entry, so unless several roads (and basically the entire neighborhood) was closed simultaneously, there would have been a route I could have directed for them had they communicated with me in real time. When Andy indicated they would "try" again today to access the property, I asked which roads they took yesterday, attempting to gather information about road closures and offer alternative routes. Andy would not provide the information, skirting the question 3 times. When I asked why I hadn't been called at the time of discovery of roads being closed, he was defensive, belligerent, and eventually stated that they were too busy to do the job. Ultimately, I am left with the impression that they've overbooked their schedule and instead of offering a clear, realistic timeline and being committed to honest communication, Andy chose to embellish an "obstacle" then lash out when the customer asked clarifying questions that would expose it, and at the very least, would expose their breakdown in communication. Mr. Andy Chavez and his entire team of skilled roofing professionals did a wonderful job of completing reroofing my house. Although it took several days for me to reach Mr. Chavez initially, once we connected everything went as well as I had hoped. The written estimate Mr. Chavez provided was very competitive and he was willing to match a competitor's estimate. Scheduling the work was easy with Mr. Ezra Chavez and the ANR team arrived very promptly at 6:50 am and worked hard all day till 7:00 pm. They did a very high quality job in every respect of the re-roofing from removing the original roofing materials to building a effective cricket to divert water away from a troublesome spot, to replacing damaged wood, to laying down the new basement layer and shingles, to installing hagen dormer vents, to installing flashing, etc. They were extremely thorough, courteous and hardworking. A crew of about five professional roofers worked on my roof and the results are splendid. Mr. Manny did a beautiful job of building a large cricket on the roof above my garage. He is highly talented and created a beautiful symmetrical and effective cricket. Mr. Chavez even went out of his way to change from Torch down roofing to a peel and stick roofing for a part of a roof near a mommy hummingbird and her newborn chicks. He felt that Torch down might harm the birds. This change meant a higher cost roofing material which Mr. Chavez generously absorbed without charging me extra. His team came by again this morning for about 45 minutes to finish caulking and painting the flashing around the vents and to clean up the worksite. I am delighted by ANR and thank Mr. Chavez, his foreman Mr. Manny, Mr. Lalo, Mr. Ezra Chavez, Ms. Delia and the rest of this highly professional team. I recommend ANR without any hesitation whatsoever and would call upon their professional services whenever I or my family members need roofing services. read more

ANR roofing replaced my roof, which was in terrible shape. Ezra came over and gave me a quote upon first inspection, making it clear that it could go up, based on unknowns until the roof was removed. The estimate ended up being almost double, due to the condition of the roof. I had gotten a few different estimates, ANR Roofing was not the cheapest, but between their reviews and working with Ezra I went with them. So happy I did. Ezra sent Manny and his crew. Super professional crew and foreman. I was very nervous, but they took care of everything. They found five rotten roofs underneath the top layer, yikes. All had to be removed, before getting to the structural part. The plywood needed to be replaced as well. It all made sense. They finished the entire job, with six guys, in one very long day. Roof is guaranteed for ownership of the home. Work is guaranteed for 10 years. They are licensed, did the permits and did a good job cleaning up after themselves. I wish they had left a package of the tiles behind, but they were so fast I could not ask them. Great company , great crew. FYI: The roof held up well so far, during the recent storm and rain. This company wanted me to pay them a $250 "service fee" just to come and assess a leak. I asked if that would go towards the work that was done. The lady said it would, at first, then said she needed to double check. The final answer was "no, it would not be applied to the work." $250 for an assessment is way too much. Doctors don't even charge that for an exam lol. Another company is coming to check out the problem for free. While I don't expect someone to give me their time and expertise for free, $250 is way too much, in my opinion. read more

After a few years of having a new roof installed i figured now is the time to give my review since it has tested the various weather climates throughout these 3 years. We had layers of mixed matched roof replaced with a metal roof. At first I thought a metal roof? Until i actually saw and touched the material I thought ok that will last a life time. It was done within a reasonable time (we had the house painted and other work done simultaneously). The workers always cleaned up after each day. I'm giving 1 star because, after installing a completely new roof in 2015, the roof remained sound for only the first 2-1/2 years. Since then, I've had to call every year to correct the very same leak. I just made my 2nd call of 2021 after their earlier "repair" during the spring. Never have they spent more than 20 minutes before announcing that the problem was "fixed." I fear for what structural damage the recurring leak has caused. read more

After reading the reviews about ANR Roofing, I called to get an estimate on replacing the roof on my home. The original appointment was scheduled for Thursday, 9/15/11. After the time had passed, we called to find out the ETA. The driver claimed to have been in an accident but rescheduled us for Friday, 9/16/11. Again, the scheduled time came and went with no call (no show) from the driver. We called and the guy acted like he completely forgot. Just called asking if they could come out to inspect the roof of my home. Despite reviews saying that they do inspections, I was told by their receptionist that they do not offer this type of service. When I asked if they knew any other company that I could contact instead, she couldn't give me an answer. Not helpful at all! Update: Just want to add that I was not looking for an escrow inspection, but more of a maintenance check. And after already contacting several other roofing companies found on Yelp and getting no closer to an answer to my request, asking the receptionist for any guidance didn't seem like an unreasonable question. We didn't even get to the estimate part, so I can't speak of their actual roofing skills.... On my initial call I was told someone would call me back to schedule - it got to the end of the day and I hadn't heard back so I called and locked in the apt. I've read a lot about crappy cust serv in the building industry, so I didn't think it was too big of a deal. The guy who looked at the roof said everything was fine until my boyfriend started pointing out the issues (shingles bubbling, a few drips in the overhangs, bad repairs - visible stuff). Hmmmmm. For the record my bf is not a roofer. We scrambled for another company to come out and quote - of course we couldn't find anyone same day, but thought at least ANR could give us a ballpark per my man's itemized list. The estimator knew of our a tight schedule to get a quote and we still haven't heard back, despite a few emails with no reply. We ended up calling a different company around 7.30 PM one eve - they answered, spent some time on the phone and gave us a ballpark quote for what we (think) we need. Everytime it rains, I curse this place. They were hired to fix a leak ($350), and they told me that there was nothing they could do, but for $350, they would put a tarp over the roof - and that would get me through the rainy season so that I could save up money to pay for the partial roof replacement ($4,800). Instead of putting up a tarp, they shoddily put up 2 pieces of plastic, securing them with paint cans and little piles of roof shingles. After 2 weeks or so, we started noticing more and more leaks in our kitchen. We went up on the roof and the "tarp" had blown off half of the roof. I asked them if they would come back and help me to secure it, and they said they would only come back for another $350. So now their story is that they told me that the first fix was only a "quick fix" meant to last through ONE rain storm. Advice: 1. DO NOT hire this company, they do NOT live up to their word. 2. Get at least 3 bids on your roof if it's a major repair. I guarantee that they are one of the highest prices, even compared to reputable roofing companies. 3. If you DO hire them, get them to put everything they say in writing, and be very skeptical about everything they say to you. Keep an eye on them. read more

We recently bought a fixer upper in Eagle Rock (still fixing it up--and at the time of this review, not all the work is complete). One of the things tagged in our inspection was the original 1960's roof, needing to be replaced. I turned to Yelp to find local roofers and found glowing reviews for ANR Roofing. I have not been disappointed. Ruben first came out to do the estimate, followed by Ricardo who handled the installation. They tore off the old roof, installed a skylight I supplied and put the new roof in 2 days. Brilliant job! The roof looks great. The guys at ANR are super responsive and very interested in making sure you are 100% satisfied. Each of their crews and subs works to troubleshoot all the potential problems. Their HVAC guy, Carlos pointed out to us how some other interior contractors might have caused damage to the vents running thru the attic of the house and we quickly replaced the vents based on his recommendation. He went above and beyond the scope of work to re-attach the HVAC unit, outfitting it with new ductwork. We are still waiting for the gutters to arrive, which we scheduled to happen after the main roof install, at Ricardo's suggestion-- so that we could get the facia boards and gutters painted and protected appropriately by our painting company--another way that ANR Roofing worked to trouble shoot for us. They understand the entire construction process and really aim to make sure your whole project goes smoothly, not just their part. Once completed, we expect to enjoy our roof and gutters for many years to come. Right when we were preparing our nursery room for our two little boys on the way, we noticed some moisture inside the closet. This is not the ideal start for your dream baby nursery, right? So we called ANR and in just a few days Reuben came and inspected the roof and found the source of the leakage. The price they gave us I thought was very reasonable and they even included some extra things we asked them for no extra charge. Andy and Reuben and the rest of the crew were very polite and cleaned after the mess before they left the house. I got a complete new roof from these guys: tear off, re-sheet, new roof. They did the whole thing in one day. They even replaced a few rotted rafters at no charge. I had a special accommodation, a buddy of mine owns a roofing materials supply place and gave me most of the materials. ANR was fine with this, they gave me two quotes, one with, and one without materials. My roofing supply buddy said they were offering great prices, meaning very little added on top of their cost. About a week after they left I discovered a broken exhaust pipe that runs across the roof. My pipes are old, and it didn't surprise me it broke during the roofing. I called them up and they came right out and fixed it, no charge. Bottom line, if you want it done fast and right, its worth it to hire these licensed roofer. They did right by me. read more

This company cannot seem to manage work flow for any projects. Stating that "good roofers are hard to come by" so you're on your own, is a terrible business model. Angie's List and Yelp have many good contractors that want your business. Let the consumer and market speak for itself. My experience with ANR Crown Roofing is with the installation of an IB Systems roof. This was for a 25-year guaranteed roofing product on an 850 square foot home. I chose to go with a green, reflective roof and was very impressed with the IB product in general. PVC is a durable, long-lasting roofing material that reflects the sun and is recyclable once it needs replacing. I also have solar panels installed and ANR worked around the panels to properly install the IB roof. From beginning to end Ruben and his team gave me excellent support, including quickly answering a multitude of questions that I had throughout the process by email and phone. For being such a high-maintenance customer, ANR went above and beyond to communicate with me. There have already been two periods of rainfall since installation - so far so good! I called ANR based on the reviews and because they are located in Eagle Rock and I like to support my local businesses. Gerry came to my house to give me an estimate. He was professional, honest and very pleasant to work with. He emailed an estimate to me within hours (granted, my job was on the small side). I accepted their proposal and Ricardo called to schedule the work right away. I was surprised that they could get to me so quickly. Another company that I contacted couldn't even come over to give me an estimate for six weeks. First off, I have to say, I didn't actually use ANR...yet. But I'm very impressed with their customer service thus far. I contacted ANR through their website, looking for someone to inspect the roof of a house I was purchasing. I was surprised when the owner himself called me back within 24 hours and told me that he would come out to inspect it himself, since it was "right in his backyard." Andy (the owner) was very professional and courteous and had a quote to me within a couple of days. I've done a little shopping around and what they offered was a very competitive price.
