When I heard there was an An's coming to Oceanside, let alone in the Top Gun house, I was counting down the days until opening! I've been numerous times since open and I have yet to find something to complain about. My favorite time to go is on a weekday around 6 pm and there is usually little to no line. All the flavors are so unique and yummy. My favorite are the banana coffee and "pallet cleanser"! The staff is so helpful and patient with me when I want to switch it up. The staff is so personable and friendly every time I go. One guy ( I think a manager), who is always there, is very cool. It is also such a treat to get to eat inside the old Top Gun house. Makes me feel like I'm in a movie every time I go! This is my new go-to ice cream spot after I get dinner in Oceanside! read more

Had the best time at the new Ans shop in Oceanside! Whenever I have friends and family in town, I take them to Ans for the experience and best gelato in the US. This location is in the famous Top Gun house right at the beach. I love the memorabilia from the movie and way they decorated the inside. The flavor tours are one of my favorite parts of the experience. The people working there are always friendly and tell you about the details of each flavor so that you can decide while trying all the flavors they have. Even with this experience, the line moves fairly quickly plus I don't mind waiting right in front of the beach. The flavors for this location have been so interesting. Didn't expect to like the Charleston (cornbread and honey butter) but it's a new favorite! read more

Hiya B.U.M.S., What an incredible weekend. We recently took a mini family staycation out in the vibrant Oceanside area. Every time we passed by An's Gate D5, we couldn't help but stare--not only have we been dying to try their legendary artisan gelato, but it's located right inside the historic Top Gun House! As a huge fan of the movie, seeing that restored 1887 cottage in person was an awesome bonus. On our previous loops down Pacific Street, the line was wrapped out the door, so we kept postponing it. But this time? The line was short, and we made our move. Once we reached the front, we immediately understood why there's often a wait--and honestly, it wasn't that bad, it might have been a good part of the whole experience. Instead of standard quick scoops, you are paired with a server who takes your entire group on a complete, full-flight sampling tour of every single flavor on the menu. We visited as a family of three, and our server had the brightest energy. She walked us through the whole menu step-by-step and even let us in on a secret off-menu flavor! Hands down one of the most complex, rich flavors you'll ever taste. Visalia: Roasted California pistachios folded with chunks of dark chocolate--nutty, rich, and perfectly balanced. Del Mar: Cinnamon caramel ribbons and soft cake bits swirled into a vanilla gelato base--it literally tastes like a freshly baked cinnamon roll in ice cream form. Between the immersive airport terminal decor, the incredible hospitality, and stepping inside a piece of movie history, it turned a quick dessert stop into a full-on family memory. Didn't get the "airport theme" at first, but once you try the gelato you forget all about that. Long lines cause they let you try all the flavors! And you they sample all thier flavors with a small metal spoon. First comes the pallete cleanser (genious) then when you think you've made your decision, they have you try all the flavors( which honestly all are good). Staff was friendly and you can choose 2 diff flavors in your cup or waffle cone. Again the aiport theme, eh , seemed like waste of space for their "toast lounge" .they have a tribute to the Top Gun Movie. But overall the gelato is very tatsy! This is the fourth Ans gelato shop and is located close to the pier. It took over from the place that served slices of pie. I mean, I like pie just fine, but at the beach? When it is 80 or 90 degrees out? No, thank you. This is also the so-called "Top Gun" house, if anyone remembers that movie. We waited in line for probably a half hour but there are several reasons for this: the place is new, it is summer, there were a million people at the beach, and, for now, when you finally get your turn at the front, they are giving you samples of EACH of the flavors on sale. So, you get a full demonstration, and lots to sample, when it is your turn at bat. They probably had seven or eight flavors for sale during our visit and I liked all of them and probably loved four or five of them. One of them had huge pieces of cornbread in it (it was delicious). Another had real pieces of cake in it (it was also delicious). And I really loved the Ho Chi Minh gelato with coffee and bananas. It was fantastic. It is a small shop but the decor is great. It is modeled after an airport terminal and the attention to detail is fantastic. Is Ans cheap? No, and if you find cheap gelato or cheap groceries or cheap gas anywhere right now, let me know. I have been a long time fan of An's Dry Cleaning and was in the area, so decided to check out this new location! They repurposed the iconic Top Gun house for their shop. The outside of the house is super cute and has a beautiful ocean view. The airport themed interior on the other hand is... interesting. However, the gelato flavors and service were wonderful! One of my favorite things about An's is the flavor tour they offer where they let you try all the flavors they have available and give a detailed description of what each one is and what ingredients they use. They had so many unique flavors, including the Charleston (honey butter cornbread) and Ho Chi Minh (banana Vietnamese coffee). My favorite flavor I tried today was the Visalia, which was their pistachio and chocolate flavor - they use a pistachio paste and it tasted just like the pistachio gelato I had every day in Italy! Would definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

An's gelato is the MVP. Get ready for a line all the time at the Top Gun House by the Oceanside Pier. Opened 7/25/26 at 10:30am and is hoppin! They have unique flavors and classics like vanilla and strawberry. The line moves slow because they do a tasting flight so you can try ALL of the flavors before committing to a scoop. Great service. One vacation and visiting Oceanside for the first time. Apparently this store opened less than a month ago and the line was long! They were having their soft opening. The line was getting longer so we decided to wait it out. We were not disappointed!! The staff member Jesus provided a sample of ever flavor with an explanation of the ingredients. By the end we were so confused because we loved every flavor. The staff was friendly and the vibe was alive with everyone enjoying themselves. An's Gate D5 I can see why people are drawn to this place--the location is beautiful, with a direct view of the ocean. Their social media presence is also very strong, and being located inside the famous Top Gun House definitely adds to the attraction. However, in my personal opinion, the gelato itself was nothing particularly special. I tried the Ho Chi Minh flavor, but it was a little too sweet for me, and the coffee flavor was not strong enough. I personally prefer my coffee bold and not overly sweet. The employees were very friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. The prices are slightly higher than those of other nearby shops, but I understand that the location is right by the beach. Parking can also be difficult, especially if you have a baby and need to park close to the shop. Having to search for parking just to buy one scoop of gelato may make you think twice. read more

Big fan of the other locations, this new one's ice cream is amazing as usual! The tasting flight lets you try every flavor which makes the line go a bit slow but we didn't wait too long. Ended up getting the Charleston (honey, butter, cornbread) and Del Mar (cinnamon caramel, vanilla, cake) but all flavors were delicious. It finally arrived!! I had been waiting for it to open. I decided to try it when I walked by and didn't see a line. Great customer service. There were only a few people ahead of me on a Tuesday afternoon and the line moved quickly though everyone did the flavor tours. Definitely had service with a smile and the server was excited to share their favorites with me. I got the Charleston with the honey butter and cornbread- delicious!!! There are only two lines and they may back up if patrons are doing the flavor tour, but be patient it's worth it! The shop is really cute and very clean. read more

What a cute establishment! We had pistachio flavored and banana& Vietnamese coffee gelato. The texture of the gelato is great. I can taste that they use good ingredients. I do think flavor is ok. Pistachio one had fine chocolate chips and finely chopped pistachio and honestly the chocolate overpowered the flavor of pistachio as the base gelato itself has very mild flavor. Banana and Vietnamese coffee was really so so. If you know Vietnam coffee, it's a very strong and sweet coffee and all I could taste was banana but again also mild. If there isn't a long wait ( people sampling and having small talks which is great but service is real slow) I would go try something else but I would not line up for more than 10 min. read more

The location is great. You can walk across the street and sit on a bench that overlooks the ocean. The gellato is meh. We had the banana and Vietnamese gellato. It had a banana flavor but zero flavor or color contribution of coffee. The banana flavor was very muted. The texture was with minimal ice crystals. We also had the vanilla, chocolate and honey comb. No chocolate flavor. No honey flavor. It was weird like both flavors were almost the same ice cream with different colors. They offer and encourage you to sample each ice cream. It takes FOREVER for the line to move. You stand there watching people taste and talk about each taste. One group of 4 took 20 minutes. They only have two servers. read more

I'm actually surprised by some of the negative reviews. I've been to multiple An's location and I think this is my favorite in terms of gelato. It was opening week so wait time was long but that was expected. The tour was great and actually crazy how well explained every flavor was. I felt it happening just as our server was explaining it. The only down side is exiting through the same door I came in but it does not take away from the experience whatsoever. Love the gelato here. Will be a regular. read more
