Do not recommend even after giving them two chances. If you don't pay up and sign up for them to…read moredo the services and upgrade for their urns etc for sale, forget ever receiving your family member's remains in less than 3 months. First my mother died in September 2023 at AV Hospital, so signed death certificate form from physician. I had to call repeatedly to learn what had happened after Don so kindly and fake concernedly promised her remains return within a few weeks. No on returned my phone calls. They excused it to having my wrong phone number. Interestingly to have such a mistake when you have to complete most forms on line directly and he could use the correct number to try and upsale additional items for increased cost... Second try was from unexpected death of father , at home in a quick hospice placement in July 2024. Due to the hospice physician's errors in death report LA County was required to complete an autopsy which required medical records. However, Don and his group never got back to me about problem and it took almost 3 months to get the Coroner the hospital records and treatments. Then within a week of me getting them and speaking directly with the Coroner he was cremated. However, again had to call repeatedly to inquire as to when his remains were available. Again no consistent return of phone calls. Don and his daughter could never remember my father's or my name and had to look for records, so not too concerned and obviously have problems with many many clients. Save your family more heartache and frustration and go with another group , as it will be more timely and not cost anymore either. If I could give a negative rating I would.

They definitely take advantage on charges, way more than posted costs on everything. Not trustworthyread more

My mom had passed away but they treated her with love and kindness, they immediately picked her up from the hospital within an hour or so and I felt like my mom was in good hands. I thank Joey for being patient and for helping me make the right decisions. The planning was so easy because Joey made sure no detail was left out. On the day of her service my family was welcomed by the Halley-Olsen-Murphy team with such respect and kindness. This is the only mortuary that I will use to handle any of my family needs in the future. Its such a hard thing to talk about but we had pre-planned arrangements a few years ago and Joey was the one who helped us set that up and when my mom died we were so grateful to have him by our side. Thank you Joey and Halley-Olsen-Murphy team. Sincerely, Sabrina Torres

A Heartfelt Thank You to Family Memorial Mortuary…read more On behalf of the Hicks family, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Family Memorial Mortuary in Lancaster for the exceptional care and compassion shown to our mother, Mozelle Hicks, and our entire family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. From the moment Funeral Director Doreen and another staff member arrived to bring our mother into their care, they treated her with the utmost dignity, respect, and compassion. They graciously allowed our family time to say our goodbyes and demonstrated genuine empathy and professionalism throughout the entire process. Their kindness brought comfort to us when we needed it most. When we met to make the arrangements, everything was handled flawlessly. From the receptionist who welcomed us with warmth, to the planner who guided us through each step, to Doreen, and the entire staff, every person we encountered treated us like family. We never felt like just another client; we felt cared for, supported, and embraced during our time of grief. The level of respect, compassion, and attention they showed not only to our family but also to our mother will never be forgotten. Their dedication to serving families with excellence is truly remarkable. In addition to the outstanding service, we were grateful for the reasonable pricing. Family Memorial Mortuary provides high-quality, professional care without placing an overwhelming financial burden on families. During a time when many families are already facing emotional and financial stress, their honesty, fairness, and commitment to excellence were deeply appreciated. We wholeheartedly recommend Family Memorial Mortuary to anyone in the Antelope Valley who is seeking a place that will care for their loved one with dignity, honor, and respect. Our family received exceptional service, compassionate support, and peace of mind knowing our mother was in caring hands. Thank you, Doreen, and the entire staff of Family Memorial Mortuary for everything you have done for our family. Your kindness, professionalism, and heartfelt compassion helped carry us through an incredibly difficult time, and we will be forever grateful. With heartfelt appreciation, The Hicks Family

Recently has a wake here my experience was good but not great. We had the wake in their new…read morelocation in Palmdale my grievances were as follows. The staff did not have the room cold enough we had a large family over 100 people it was way too hot we were literally sweating. I know we could've asked Doreen to make it colder but honestly with all the emotion of saying goodbye and so much going on it slipped our minds but my issue is we shouldn't have to do that the staff should be on top of it and making sure the temperature is cool enough. My other issue was the flowers a lot of my family purchased funeral arrangements thru them expensive ones $200 and up and they were honestly trash. You could see the foam they looked nothing like the pictures and barely had any flowers. I understand they don't make the arrangements themselves but at the end of the day they choose which vendors they partner up with and they should do a better job at not accepting such low quality flowers work from them we trusted them with the flower arrangements and we were all disappointed with the outcome. At the end of the day it's the mortuary's reputation so why accept such low quality arrangements? My other issue is they were filling the lobby with water bottles I would expect the staff to stay on top of that. As for the positives I will say Doreen was the only one who answered when we needed a mortuary. She was very kind, respectful made us feel comfortable and never once tried to upsell us. She answered right away when we called. Her customer service was far better than the rest. I'm grateful to have worked with her during the hardest moment of our lives.

My mother passed away two months ago, and navigating everything that comes with that loss felt overwhelming. From the very beginning, their team made the entire process feel straightforward and manageable. They were incredibly respectful, responsive, and handled every detail with care and dignity. One thing that really stood out to me was their pricing. Everything was clearly laid out upfront, all-inclusive, and exactly as quoted--no hidden fees, no surprise add-ons. After dealing with other companies where costs kept creeping up, this level of transparency was such a relief. It allowed us to focus on honoring my mom instead of worrying about unexpected expenses. What stood out most overall was how easy they made everything during such an emotional time. There was no confusion, no added stress--just clear communication and genuine support when it mattered most. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Opal Cremation Services of Greater Los Angeles to anyone going through this process. They truly bring peace of mind when you need it the most.

With concern and dignity, my wife's body was transported from her deathbed to the Opal facility. I was kept advised of the process to be followed, and then Opal made the necessary contacts with a variety of death-involved agencies, secured death certificate copies, and provided a wealth of information to me. Everyone I spoke with at Opal was compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable. Every option available to me was clearly explained, but there was never the slightest pressure for me to purchase add-ons of any kind. The cost for all of this was very reasonable, and I deeply feel that their service was worth every penny I paid. Opal simplified and completed all the tasks that emerge in death's wake, and I recommend them without reservation. Gary Hartzell

Families entrust this…read moreplace with the care of their loved ones' final resting place, yet the grounds reflect a shocking lack of maintenance and respect. The grass throughout the cemetery is completely brown, dry, and as hard as concrete. It is evident that it is not receiving the care it requires. When I raised my concerns with the front office, I was told the grounds are watered "three or four times a day." Based on what is plainly visible, that claim is simply not credible. Out of frustration, I purchased a 100-foot hose in an attempt to water my loved one's plot myself because the cemetery was clearly not doing so. Even then, the hose barely reached, and the water pressure was so poor that it was essentially unusable. It is unacceptable that families feel compelled to maintain cemetery grounds themselves. What makes this even more frustrating is the contrast with the City's enforcement of residential property standards. Homeowners can be fined for failing to maintain their landscaping, yet a cemetery--where families come to honor and remember those they have lost--is allowed to remain in such deplorable condition. This level of neglect is disrespectful to the deceased and deeply hurtful to the families who visit them. I sincerely hope city officials, including the Mayor, take notice and hold those responsible accountable. Our loved ones deserve dignity, and our community deserves better than this.
