Antepli is a fantastic Turkish bakery with the most delicious baklava (and other) pastries I've ever tasted (so fresh!), but if you haven't tried their Turkish Breakfast - which you can really have ANY time of the day - you're really missing out!! Beautifully presented on a porcelain, white, square serving platter is a feast made up of 11 items (see pic of the breakfast posted next to my name): Lightly dressed with fine olive oil, salt & pepper are slices of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and red peppers followed by two types of fresh cheeses, kashar, which is smooth firm and light, and feta, on a bed of fresh, chopped greens. Next are five, white, fluted, ceramic ramekin cups, each holding delectable offerings of a hard boiled egg, black turkish olives, slices of sujouk sausage, kaymak cream (which I was pleasantly surprised to find out was NOT butter - but something even better and boy was it delicious!) and honey (both meant to be spread on the bread). Finally, there are two pieces (but I wanted more! ;-) of su borek (buttered filo dough with a soft cheese baked into the middle), which I dipped liberally in the delicious honey. Oh, almost forgot to mention, this is all served with deliciously refreshing black tea in its own beautifully presented delicate glass. I hope my description does justice to this meal because even though it's a Turkish breakfast, the reality is, it can be enjoyed at ANY time of day (I had it late afternoon) and enjoying such a quality meal for only $12 means it's a bargain that I will certainly be back to have again!! read more

The Baklava is amazing here! Not too sweet and just the right amount of pistachios. My favorite is the classic one.

While on a in NYC trip to brooklyn to get some sheesha charcoal, stopped at this place to get some Kunafeh, we took a piece to stay as a trail piece, and it faired greatly. We end up getting 2 to go with Halawat jibensh (a must try desert). Service was nice, price was good and place was super clean. Highly recommended for Kunafeh read more

Delicious middle eastern miniature pastries! They have 3 or 4 different baklava presentations varying in pistachio and walnut Flavors. Both have a decadent flavor without being too overly sweet (at least not for me) the syrup does give it a luscious plenty sugary honey flavor but I think it's pretty good in small amounts, I would probably wouldn't want to eat a big one because the syrup would be just to over pouring but in small amount it's definitely a debacle treat. I will definitely come back when I'm craving Arab goodies! read more

One word: WOW. Antepli is one of the best kunafe and dessert places on the East Coast. I went to both their locations in Patterson and Bay Ridge and was really impressed by the quality and lovely environment. I tried their ice cream, a special kind made with fresh cream and pistachios which I hadn't had since I left Syria, and it tasted so similar to the one we used to eat back home. This place brought back so many beautiful memories of happy times back in Syria and I was really grateful to have been able to relive them. Levantine desserts are so delicate and specific; every ingredient matters and Antepli uses all the right ones. I also tried their halawet el jibn which is excellent, and the only word of advice I have for the owners is that rose water in Halawet el jibn needs to be a little more obvious, it could also be added to the syrup. It was a cold winter morning, I walked inside to kill some time until my doctors appt. The man behind the counter was so nice and welcoming. I ordered a kazandibi which is like a custard. There wasn't any hot water ready yet for tea. The man was so kind and offered me some Turkish tea that he was making for his co-workers in the back. I didn't want to bother them . Sure enough, he brought me a piping hot tulip shaped glass of tea. It was an excellent reminder of how important hospitality is in the Turkish and middle eastern community. I haven't tried many baklavas, nor am I much of a connoseuir on the subject, but whenever I do try them if someone brings them along to a party like you would a bottle of wine or pie for dessert, I always found them too sweet and never went out of my way to purchase them. However, having recently been gifted a box of assorted pastries from Antepli, it was love at first bite. The flavors and aromas and textures keep coming back to me even though it's been months, and I still haven't gotten a chance yet to go back. I haven't been to this bakery, but had the pistachio baklava at the restaurant Deniz (which I also recommend) near BAM in Brooklyn. The baklava was so unusually delicious that we asked, and learned that the source is Antepli. Everyone at our table has spent considerable time in the Middle East, and knows the difference between good baklava and great. At first bite, we all stopped, looked at our piece of baklava, and then at each other. Was this was the best we'd had in the U.S.? An easy concensus. I ventured that it certainly was the best I'd had many years. Yes, we all nodded. Then, cautiously, we had to admit that this was among the best any of us had ever had anywhere. I absolutely adore his place. First their desserts are AMAZING!!! I love their baklava and kunafa. You can also add Turkish ice cream to their desserts, which make them even more amazing. Furthermore, the owner of the place is really nice. One time we came in right as he was about to close (he had just turned the lights off). In a neighborhood with bakeries run by families from around the Middle East, it was wonderful to see a Jewish bakery added to the mix. Discovered this place recently and loved it! Their variety of baklava products is amazing!

Came in yesterday to buy 1 lb of pistachio baklava and 1/2 lb of special baklava which came out to be about $17 and my goodness, it is well worth it! Melt in your mouth baklava with a generous amount of pistachio in the center with delicious syrup absorbed into the dough. I only wish there were more layers of filo dough but the food is amazing and so is the owner of the store- he's extremely nice and knows his baklava! read more

Years ago when I moved back to Bay Ridge from Manhattan I found this little unassuming middle eastern pastry shop that did mostly wholesale orders to restaurants and other grocery stores and not so much a retail store. However they were fantastic because they use really good ingredients. Then about 2-3 years they closed! I was so sad because I know the rent probably did it. So for a few years I haven't found another place like it even though we are surrounded by all the middle eastern pastry shops. A few months ago my husband said he found this shop that is just like it and it is true! So today I went there myself for the first time and who did I see? Rima! The original owner and the pastry chef from that closed shop! I was so happy and she did inform me that she now work for a new owner since she wasn't able to deal with the business aspect of it and she just want to do what she does best! So you all must come and support this place because it is the best middle eastern pastry shop hands down! Now they have added some seating so it is more retail friendly. read more

I went there at 8am as it indicates on yelp, that's when it's open. Yet when I got the door it was still closed. I was so tired after working a night shift yet I decided to wait by a near by coffee shop for it to open at 10am, as it stated on open for business on google. 10:10am comes the metal gate is still down and the see the old man inside. We make eye contact, so I knocked on the window to ask if I can come in to buy some stuff. The old man with the white beard did not even want to talk to me as he was trying to close the door in front of my face. At least explain what time you are open before u close the door on my face. He was struggling to lock the door, with me standing in the winter cold for 2 long minutes. When I knocked on the window he muscled up the tiny courage to say no open at 11am! What!! I'm not going to wait another hour, I already waited 2 hours. Horrible customer service. Never gonna come again. The hours are not even as posted. There's good baklava places everywhere else. I've been eating baklava for 15 years in US. Never saw Turkish desert this fresh, crisp and tasty before. Including the ones in Turkey! It is a new place but if they keep the quality like this they will be well known soon. Turkish tea was a big hit too. They have to find or make quality ice cream I think. Sublime! I would give Antepli 6 stars if possible! The space is new, neat, and clean. The staff is pleasant and generous. The prices are extremely reasonable and the desserts are absolutely delicious. I've been several times and will keep going when I want a special treat. Not once have they disappointed me. And for the few that say they lack variety, they have several variations with both almond and pistachio options. If you're a nut lover you note more than a subtle difference in taste.
