I had high expectations for the pizza and was disappointed. Their website offers delivery; however, I had to pick it up after an hour and a few drivers canceling the pickup. They don't use their own drivers, I guess this is the current age of outsourcing jobs. But by the time I got to the pizza it was over an hour and it was cold. Very disappointed, it tasted okay, but I was left highly disappointed. The wings were pretty good. Again cold, and they're not like regular wings. It's just wings cooked in their oven. Pretty tasty. But not the traditional Buffalo wings. But by the time I was able to pick them up they were already cold. Usually I will only write a review after 2 visits to a place. I deducted one star because I was literally flabbergasted by the service. The boyfriend and I head in for lunch one Sunday because he raved on the pizza he had here before. We are seated very quickly and asked which drinks we wanted. The poor host though seemed a bit nervous, maybe still new? She was sweet though. The waitress comes over and so far shes good, gave us both attention, asked us what drinks we wanted and a starter. We end up getting the chicken wings with the caramelized onions on top. The onions were delicious. He liked the actual wings, but I guess they way they were cooked they had the char on the outside, which I'm not a fan of, but someone might be. For lunch we got the philly cheese steak pizza, which was AMAZING; With more caramelized onions!! When the waitress brought it to our table on the other hand, she started to flirt with the boyfriend, which is obviously not cool. I let it go though because I knew she only wants extra tips. She didn't even look in my direction as she dropped off the meal. When the time came for refills on our drinks, mine had been empty for a while mind you, and his was half empty. She comes over and asked if he wanted another Coke, and I have to tell her that I want another drink too. She brings us two cokes.... You can not go wrong with ANY location. Anthony's makes the best pizza I ever had. It's crispy (they call it "Well Done"), which both meanings to that phrase are right on. Not only do they have excellent pizza but they have wings which are baked in the coal fired oven so they are crispy and not greasy. The meatballs are amazing and their sauce is perfection. My MOST favorite is the salad that I get served up with Italian tuna salad. This is the best tuna anywhere. If your mouth is not watering yet take a look at their menu, they have so much more. I have eaten at numerous locations in New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Florida and it's always consistent. The servers always provide excellent service. The biggest and only problem I have found with this place is there are no locations in Mesa Arizona, which is where I currently live. Looking forward to my next trip back East. read more

Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza not only has the best pizza in the area, but they have the best customer service led by Lily. Each Friday when I come in to pick up my pizza I feel like going into the bar that was on Cheers. Everyone knows your name. One of my favorites is Justine who is as nice as they come. i feel like I am stopping in to see my daughters, (actually they could be my granddaughters!). Sometimes my wife picks up the pizza and I almost feel bummed that I did not get to see my friends. Area restaurants should take a page out of their customer service book, (by the way, I conduct customer service training workshops so I know it when I see "excellent customer" service. read more

We were in the area a couple of weeks ago and I was in the mood for pizza so of course I googled woodfire pizza and this option came up. We got to the place around 1:30 and easily found a table outside and after a few minutes 2 waiters came to our table (1 was training the new guy). We ordered a medium pizza with sausage and mushrooms and patiently waited. For some reason the service was not that great but the pizza was amazing and after seeing the ad on the table about the Coal Fired Club so I immediately signed up and we received our email for a free pizza the next morning so before heading back home to Baltimore we stopped back for a late lunch. We were able to get the same outside table we had the previous day but this time we got lucky and got this amazing server named Michaleigh. She was super attentive and we spent a few minutes just chatting with her, she is definitely an asset to the restaurant, the day before she was waiting on 2 guys behind us who were quite pushy and she handled them with class and kid gloves. On our second visit we got an order of the bbq wings and a medium pepper and sausage pizza. The wings were some of the best we've ever had and the pizza was great as usuall but it was a little frustrating that we weren't able to pay an upcharge to get the meatballs on our pizza. The wings are served with blue cheese and foccacia and let me tell you, I haven't stopped thinking about how delicious they were. The food was great but the bartender wasn't customer friendly. Bar was dirty and had to ask to be cleaned. Then we had to ask for service. She was more interested in conversations with her friends. So sad because if we had better service our review would be great. Also they said that you get a discount on drinks during happy hours but we didn't. read more

Love Anthony's and especially this location as it is extremely close to my home and love the indoor/outdoor bar setup. My favorite cocktail is the Italian margarita and although they are known for their pizza the meatballs are incredible! Anothony's has become one of my favorite spots for work lunches. Our lunches are normally quite simple - we'll have pies and we'll have wings. The food deserves 5 stars because no matter what kind of group I go with, everyone always walks out impressed and satisfied. Here is what I have experienced Anthony's: Traditional pies - Solid 5 star! The pie itself is just perfectly done. Well balanced flavors with the crust at the right level of crispiness. I've had almost all the toppings and every single one was fresh, delicious and flavorful. The one that always stands out is "hot fingerling pepper". If you like spicy and want something different, do not miss that one. Specialty Pies - 5 stars for the ones I have tried: Meatballs & Ricotta and Eggplant Marino. That's MY definition of "Italian Soul Food"! Wings - 5 stars. And you must have them! They're not your typical wings and they're addictive. The Bar menu looks very impressive and I've noticed that they have a nice rotation going on from the craft beer lists on the board. Due to the nature of "work lunch", I haven't been able to take advantage of their half price craft beer ALL DAY Monday and Tuesday. Great Pizza, great wings and craft beer - you can't go wrong. 1 star taken off NOT because of the food, but the service at times. It's fully understandable that a long wait is expected at a place as good as this, but I wished that the servers could be a little understanding and accommodating with time limits on work lunches. They wouldn't take reservation, wouldn't allow call-ahead, and even wouldn't let us order while we were waiting. I have had wood fired pizza in Naples. I have made my own dough and I recognize that pizza is a combination of ingredients that are melded into a complete taste and experience. Expect the best here. We shared a simple large pie with sausage. The hint of spices was perfect in the meat. The tomato sauce is beyond belief. It was the best pizza I have eaten since Napoli. Molte Bene. Recently, because I've been obsessed by making my own bread/pizza/naan,I had the star kissed idea of building my own brick oven in my backyard. How hard could it be ? I'd walk in Home Depot, buy the necessary elements, assemble it on a lazy spring weekend and be eating Difara quality pizza on Sunday night. A quick YouTube search on the subject quickly doused my lofty dreams. Turns out you'll need about $5000 and a masonry apprenticeship just to lay the groundwork. I guess it's just a grill and a pizza stone for this guy from now on. This, however, doesn't mean I can't get the crispy goodness from a brick oven. As a 94WIP listener, I can almost recite Anthony Gargano's Anthony's "Well Done" Ads. If south philly's "The Cuz" recommends a pizza I take notice. We decided to come to the Exton location because it worked for me and my sister in Downingtown. The place was smaller than I imagined but we got a table for 7 within a 1/2 hour. I was very impressed by their beer choices. I was more than pleased with my Lancaster Milk Stout. The menu is very brief. I like that they are focusing on pizza and not trying to appease every possible food combination like many chains do. There's pizza, wings, and a few salads or sandwiches. We came for the pizza and wings. The wing situation is odd, but I'm definitely not complaining. They put lightly seasoned wings in their oven and serve them without sauce ( not the odd part) but with a mound of sautéed onions and flatbread ( odd, but deliciously genius). Everyone loved them, specifically my hard to please brother-in-law. The pizza was as good as advertised. We ordered 3 large; a white pizza for the kids, a regular pizza with sweet peppers and onions, and one of their signature pies with hot peppers, meatball, sausage and ricotta. Good lord they were fantastic. I looked over at my son, who is also notoriously picky and he was digging into his 3rd slice. The service was quick, friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was perfect pizza place casual. Bonus points for the all time perfect photograph above the urinal (pictured). The only thing that keeps Anthony's from a 5star rating is the price. $130 for an order of wings, 3 large pies, 4 beers and a few sodas. I can't say the quality wasn't worth it and we had plenty to eat and some to take home but for someone like me, the price will keep me away unless it a special occasion. Regardless, I do recommend Anthony's highly. And for all my complaining about the price, it's still cheaper than building a backyard brick oven. read more

Disclaimer: I've definitely come here before and had really good pizza. This time around I left very disappointed in the product. I got a personal Paulie's pie. It was supposed to come with meatballs, sausage, sweet or hot peppers and ricotta cheese. It ended up costing $19. I was not happy with what I received. My main complaint is that I asked for long hots and the peppers that came on the pizza were whole and not de-seeded. They didn't even bother cutting them up or seemingly touching them at all before throwing them on the pizza. They made the pizza very unwieldy to eat and I ended up pulling them off and cutting them up myself so I didn't just get whole mouthfuls of pepper. Also I don't think there was any sausage on the pizza. For what it's worth, there were plenty of meatballs on the pie. However, the toppings made it impossible to appreciate the sauce or the dough. Overall, I was very unimpressed by the pizza and turned off from coming here again. When I spend $30, I expect to get more than a beer and a really mediocre pizza. read more

My wife and I came here tonight - Sunday at 8pm. After waiting for a table to be wiped down, we were promptly seated by the hostess/waitress who said our server would be right with us. There were 3 other tables occupied in the entire restaurant (see pictures). Despite it being "dead", we waited 15-20 mins and still nobody came to acknowledge us. Not even a drink order. There were about 4 waitresses in the back of the restaurant and they appeared to be socializing with each other and maybe doing side jobs. Needless to say, we got up and left. I gave it two stars b/c we were here once in the past and the pizza was decent. That said, there are too many good places around here to tolerate bush league service. In all my years, I've never walked out of a restaurant - funny thing is, nobody even noticed (despite me waiving the menus on our walk out) or cared. The slogan is "Pizza Well Done". Maybe they should change it to "Service Rare". Hopefully a manager/owner acknowledges this review and can remedy the issues before they lose more business. read more

I generally am not very welcoming of chain establishments, favoring locals, but this place is a revelation. First, I love love love wood fired pizza, and this coal fired fad is a hit! The pizzas are great. But the real revelation is that wings don't really have to be that Buffalo staple of fire in your mouth. The wings are are oven fired, covered in a savory rosemary-ish bath and smothered in onions. Mmmmm, like momma used to make even before we knew what wings were! We've eaten at most of the local pizza places over the years and Anthony's puts the others to shame. The pizzas are fantastic, our personal favorite is the one with fresh mozzarella, and the meatballs are phenomenal. We've always gotten our food to go but the service at the to go counter has been great and our food was always ready on time. Some people rave about the wings but they didn't do it for me. The onions they put on the wings are great but I prefer more of a saucey wing and these don't have much, if any, sauce on them. read more

If you crave the taste of non droopy pizza, look no further... this was the first (and definitely not the last) time coming here and while the place had a Friday lunch crowd, a large pizza was ready in the typical 15-20 minute timeframe. TV's are all throughout the dining and bar area. The food is prepared in an open kitchen. The servers, while busy, were attentive. Since the name of the restaurant implies pizza being their signature, their menu has enough variety to satisfy the pickiest eaters. They have beers on tap and a separate but close bar area. We have loved their food for years now, and are locals who have tried everything. Unfortunately, a day after last eating there, they were shut down for an EXTENSIVE list of sanitation and food risks. The health inspector closed it the DAY AFTER we ate there, and we had no idea. Will not be going back until I am assured they are safe and sanitary. Proceed with caution.
