    Alfredo with angel hair
    Tracey K.

We came here Christmas week. It was very rainy and unfortunately there was a leak in their new roof, which made for a bit of noise but it was OK. I felt sorry for them. They managed it best they could. They are in their new location on Remsen Street and it's a very nice restaurant. We started with the calamari. There were a lot of peppers of varying degrees on the plate, which I've never seen before at other restaurants, but they gave the dish an extra kick. The calamari was delicious. I got the Vongole. The clams were in small white shells and they were very tasty and plentiful. Served with fresh warm bread and their very tasty pesto, balsamic and olive oil. They even wrote an "A" with the balsamic. Mmmm My dinner mate got Alfredo with angel hair pasta which was a big huge bowl. In my opinion Alfredo doesn't go on angel hair (his choice) but he ate the entire bowl so it was apparently delicious. The service was friendly and fast and we had a good time!

Found this place by accident...staying close by for the weekend and was looking for somewhere for dinner. I ordered the chicken parm...with fresh pasta! Generous potion size and absolutely delicious. Very happy with my selection. My friend ordered stuffed shells and was also very happy with her meal. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful. He helped me chose my pasta for my main meal. I am glad we found this place.

Anthony's was recommended to us by friends. I'm always willing to try new places. The ambiance was nice, very homey and intimate, but the ladies were very chilly inside. Since it was a Tuesday evening, it wasn't very busy and hence the server was quite attentive. Drinks arrived in a timely fashion. Our orders were taken and so we waited. Warm Italian bread arrived soon after with a wonderful olive oil/pesto mixture, this was delicious. The appetizers arrived soon after that and they were plentiful. I ordered the calamari prepared with peppers. It was very good but the peppers overpowered the calamari. For entrees my wife ordered lasagna which she thought was very good. Im not a fan so I cannot speak firsthand. I had the clams and pasta. The pasta was very good but quite salty, maybe from the real clams. The portions of both entrees were quite large. For dessert we split the cannoli cake, which was nice but I didn't seem to find much cannoli cream. All in all Anthony's was a very good dining experience, but as a transplant here in the Capital Region, I am still looking for that Italian meal that WOW'S me....I am still searching.

    Mushroom risotto.

I tried to get a reservation for a Thursday evening, but phone went directly to voice mail which was not set-up, no website and they are not on Open Table. Arrived around 6:15, plenty of tables. Met friends at the bar, bartender/server said she would be right back. After 15 minutes of waiting without getting served an adult beverage, we gave up and took our table in the dining room, where we ordered drinks. We sat drinking and chatting for 15-20 minutes and finally flagged down one of the cooks who was walking through the dining room to order apps. Immediately after we ordered the apps, server came to take our dinner order, we deferred, not wanting dinner to arrive while we were having our apps. While we were waiting on our apps another table (of the few tables that were occupied) was served bread and oil. Once our apps came, we requested the bread and oil and water as no one was served water. Our dinner was served about 15-20 minutes after ordering. My veal parm was not pounded, so I was surprised at how tender it was and the breading had a nice flavor. The sauce and homemade pasta had no flavor at all, my entire meal was like-warm. Hubby had mushroom risotto which had no flavor whatsoever and he did not finish it. Our friends rated their meals as okay, nothing stellar. The lights in the kitchen (attached to the dining room) were promptly turned off at 8 PM when they officially close. They were only a few tables occupied during the entire evening. We were completely underwhelmed so We went down the road to Smith's Public House and the place was packed. Every table was full. It was lively and beautifully decorated, and we sat in front of the fireplace and had a nightcap which was the best part of our evening.

We went to Bellini's in Latham as a party of six. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but it didn't really impress either. Several of us ordered the chicken parm, and while it tasted good, it came with a bit of a surprise. I order chicken parm pretty much anytime it's on a menu, so I've had a lot of versions over the years, and this was the first time I've seen it paired with a cream marinara style sauce on the ziti. It had more of a vodka sauce consistency. On its own it was fine, but it felt a little odd paired with traditional chicken parm. We all agreed it seemed like an odd pairing. Another issue was temperature. My chicken parm itself was hot, but the ziti was inconsistent, hot in the center and lukewarm, even a little cool, toward the edges of the plate. I asked the other people that had ordered it as well if it was just my plate and they said no theirs also was inconsistent. Someone in our group got the stuffed shells and said they were okay, but would have preferred a red sauce instead of the white sauce. Another person agreed with that. The pizza, on the other hand, was a good size and pretty solid. Service was a bit of a mixed bag. Our waiter was friendly and did check in, but the overall pace was slow. We were there for about two hours, and it wasn't particularly busy and we just ordered entrees and two deserts. I'd say it was more on the mild side as far as busyness. the waiter also either forgot or didn't realize that two of the entrees came with a dessert, which we had to ask about. To his credit, he apologized when it was pointed out. Dessert ended up being cannolis and a slice of cheesecake, both of which were tasty. When the bill came, we noticed the total didn't seem to add up. After asking, it turned out gratuity had been included for a party of six or more. That's on the menu in smaller print, we just missed it, so not a big deal, but something to be aware of. The restaurant itself is nice inside, and the tables are roomy, which I liked. It is pretty noisy though, and it was hard to have a conversation with people at the other end of the table. The host staff were also very pleasant. I'd probably come back and give it another shot, but this visit didn't really stand out. 3 stars earned on this particular visit.

I tried the pizza and it was wet and kind of burnt. I did tell the bartender and she alerted the mgr. He showed the kitchen apologized and offered to remake. Very attentive about that. I didn't need remade. The meatball was homemade and had a giant scoop of ricotta on it. Delish. And the arancini were in a Rosa sauce and had some cheese inside. Very filling. They were attentive and very sweet. A solid Italian place for sure

DeFazio's has exploded in popularity in recent years because of rave reviews from pizza purists…read more It's critically acclaimed as not only one of the premier pizzerias in the Cap District, but some (me) say it's a top ranker across the country. And that ranking is well deserved. You get a strong familial feel walking into DeFazio's. If you're lucky enough to meet the Boss himself (he will actually be wearing a shirt that says "Boss"), he will give you a history lesson on the pizzeria, his family, and the state of pizz-ology Nationwide. He proudly proclaims that he is still The Sauce Guy around these parts because he has to keep up the quality control. There's something special about eating at a restaurant where the owner cares that much about the product, and they want you to as well. I encourage you to take the plunge and order the General Tso's pizza. It sounds insane, I know. But if you grew up eating this stuff, it will take you back to a time where you were traversing a mall food court and eating free samples (funny enough, that was the inspiration for this pizza). A lot of chicken-based pizzas will have red sauce as a base, but this is actually replaced with the Tso's special blend which has a beautiful sweet-heat to it. If you're coming here for the first time, it's nice to also balance a pizza like that out with a classic. Maybe a cheese or something similar. That way you can try out the red sauce and cheese in its purest form. I had the pleasure of walking through a cheese packing session that was going on in the restaurant, so I got to see that raw mozz up close, maybe 20 pounds of it. At that moment, I felt as though I was approaching enlightenment. When fully melted on that 'za, this cheese has the ideal mix of density and squish. DeFazio's has a special place in my heart. Your time here will make you feel like you are in a pizza sitcom. And you will leave with a feeling that you may have just had some of the best pizza of your life.

I haven't been to this original location on 4th St. in Troy for a few years. The family operation is nearly 100 years old. Remarkably, it's very much as I remember it. A tiny place with three tables. Some of the seating looks like repurposed church pews. The youthful staff, friendly as always. They were running into some delays as orders came pouring in just before dinnertime. They'd have to check to see if they could fit our order for a big pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers. They squeezed us in! Since the wait would be between 20-30 minutes we kept ourselves busy by checking out the desserts in the self serve refrigerator. I picked out a slice of "hangover" (alcohol) cake and I devoured it before our meal arrived. It was so delicious and naughty fun to eat our dessert before the meal. The pizza was fantastic when it arrived. I prefer crisp crusts-- this one was not-- but it was awesome just the same. My friend and I were so hungry that we consumed half of the pie before I realized that we hadn't photographed our delicious pizza. The remaining half was boxed and taken home to be enjoyed for a couple more days. The staff was so ready. They came to our table with the box and we settled up our bill. A lot to be said for tradition and quality. I've also visited DeFazio's in Albany, but I have yet to visit the relatively new restaurant up the block. Thanks, DeFazio's, for another great meal.
