Somehow found my TikTok feed and the Classical Brooklyn, New York accent and zuppa Depeche, caught my attention. After parking, which around Glenwood South can be challenging and everyone should expect less than convenient locations outside of a parking garage. Initially met by Anthony the owner who made things available quickly for the five of us and remembered my reservation through TikTok. After placing a drink order the fresh bread arrived with classic olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. Then the Live singer start warming up and was clearly a rebirth of Frank Sinatra not some Joe Schmoe karaoke guy. Our server Rachel was a class act and very attentive but not overly interfering with our family dinner. With that said it's this isn't Anthony's first rodeo, after speaking with him and learning of 4-5 others in the area this particular kitchen is the crown jewel for good reason. Ultimately the location, food, service, and ambiance was spot on! We ordered the grilled Caesar salad, best in my life! Fried calamari and homemade fried mozzarella half moons. I highly recommend Anthony's La Piazza Prime in Raleigh, NC. On Christmas Eve we had the pleasure of dining at this family oriented Italian restaurant. It was an amazing experience. Anthony, the owner, was gracious and welcoming with his New York/Italian personality; Alex, our server was incredible with great explanations of dishes and recommendations and quick with a joke or funny comeback; and of course the food was DELICIOUS! Everything is made fresh so be ready to wait a little bit but it is definitely worth it (order appetizers as soon as you sit) . Every dish was incredible and it had that original Italian flavor. Let me tell you, this is the place to go. I met Anthony on TikTok (I know, crazy right?). He posted videos of the food and I started commenting. He invited me to come by so I shot him a message just to let him know I was gonna come by. Not only did he welcome me, but he even set up a reservation for my family and I. When we got there, the place was gorgeous. The decor, the furniture, everything. Ambiance, top notch. Then came the service. The service was fast, attentive, and everything you could ask for. Now for the food. First up, the complimentary bread. Looked and tasted like homemade rosemary focaccia that was clearly fresh out of the oven and hot, with this crispy bottom that tasted like they took a cast iron pan, lathered it in butter, and cooked the focaccia in that. It was rich and crispy and full of flavor. Plus, served with the traditional oil and vinegar with seasonings - top notch. Couple of cocktails and baskets of that bread and I'd be happy with that alone. Then we got the Antipasto. Came with burrata, prosciutto, pepperoni, salami, provolone, turkey, grapes, olives, homemade pickled mushrooms, roasted red peppers, arugula salad, garlic knots, and more. Phenomenal. Top notch. For entrees we got the Spaghetti Carbonara, which was clearly done right with the fresh egg yolk, pecorino, peas, pancetta, touch of pasta water, and seasonings. Pappardelle with Bolognese, which was rich and full of flavor, clearly done with love. Chicken Picatta with the potato of the day (mashed golden yukons with pureed garlic, salt, pepper, butter, touch of cream). Chicken was so tender and full of flavor with a perfect emulsion of lemon and butter with lots and lots of capers. Then my wife's Tortellini Alla Panna, which was simple but full of flavor. Genuinely, a 10 out of 10 experience, could not ask for better. My family and I are already planning our next trip so we can try the pizza and the desserts! read more

I made a reservation for vday and long story short I didn't end up going there. When I arrived, the hostesses couldn't find my reservation. Then, when they did find it, I was put on a waitlist for thirty minutes.....When we went to give them a number to call, we repeated it twice to make sure they wrote it down correctly and sat in the car. After it was past the wait time, we decided to check in with the restaurant and they informed us that they had called twice. Even though, we had no calls from the restaurant. When we asked what number they called, the hostess said she did not know the restaurants number....Then informed us they gave away our table, which was apparently ready in 10 minutes not 30 minutes. Not a great experience at this place and I believe the manager should re-evaluate the hostess staff. Also, do not open your reservations up for more tables than you actually have. I've looked at others' experiences here and I do not believe this is a one time mistake. read more

Food was ok, have had better for sure. Turnoff was being told it would be $6 to share a plate with 10 year old son. Also when ordering a Lemon Drop I was asked which Vodka I wanted- Tito's, Kettle One or Grey Goose. I was never informed of an upcharge. I picked Tito's and was charged an extra $2. The Rigatoni with Vodka was ok at best. Not a ton of flavor. I think this place is somewhat overrated. I would say 3 stars very appropriate. The restaurant's coziness and warmth when you walk in you makes you feel at home. Then the food is authentic Italian. Not food from a chain but Italian to the bone. Best Italian I've had in Raleigh so far as someone from the Northeast. Cannot find manicotti, chicken Marsala and piccata and many other classics at most Italian places down here besides here! We had a great meal at Anthony's. We were looking for an Italian place with fresh pasta so our runner could carb-load before the City of Oaks race. We had Shrimp Scampi, Veal Parm, and Spaghetti with Meatballs. They were all delicious, but the pasta and meatballs stole the show. You could tell the pasta was fresh made, and the huge pork/beef meatballs were soooo flavorful. The service was also amazing. Our server was very accommodating for our 6yo child.
