I've been to Anthony's a few times for brunch and have loved each time. The view at Anthony's in Gig Harbor is so beautiful and compliments the delicious food. In the past our brunch items were plated creatively and we always love their chowder and complimentary sourdough. However tonight was a bit of a miss for dinner. Before I get to that, the Alaskan fish n chips were tasty with a nice crunchy batter. Our friends got the sirloin and crab fettuccini and were both happy. As recommended by our waiter, I got the crab cakes for $38 and was ready to be wowed and unfortunately I was not. The actual cake was pretty wet inside with a heavy cream base but the crab was yummy. It was the sauces that really threw me off (the sweet n sour type sauce) and overpowered the cake and the accompanying rice pilaf lacked in flavor. But this is the first dish I've had there that I really didn't like. And it wasn't terrible, I just don't have any desire to order it again. All our plates definitely weren't as fun to look at as the dishes I've had for lunch, and it would be nice if they had the same creativity with their dinner plating. But the chocolate cake and the burnt cream were a nice way to end our meal. This really is a great place to enjoy the harbor with excellent service, seating, and food but I think I'll stick to the lunch menu in the future. read more

Anthony's is a great seafood + view restaurant on the water in Gig Harbor. Always great service a perfect place to go for lunch or dinner. Lovely outdoor dining when weather allows. There is a downstairs bar and another eating area. The downstairs is over 21. Upstairs is for all ages. Wonderful oysters when in season. Once a year they have a great Lobster feast. Lovely night out! We had long kept Anthony's on our dining out list and wanted to save it for a special occasion. We were surprised with a gift card for our anniversary and felt this was the perfect opportunity to go. Despite it being the last night to dine out before the second shut-down, we were easily able to book a table. Parking was plentiful across the street. The hostesses were kind and welcoming, and we were quickly taken to our reserved table. Plexi-partitions separated the tables and everyone was spread out. Our waiter quickly joined us and brought us bread and water. The entire wait staff was helpful and attentive. We looked over the virtual menu and quickly decided on ordering the Dungeness Crab, Shrimp, and Artichoke Dip. We also chose the Clam Linguine and Lobster Fettuccine. We were a little underwhelmed with the menu and its old school side pairings. Everything seemed to be accompanied by a rice pilaf. But the descriptions provided for the pastas won us both over. The linguine had incredible flavor, spice and creaminess. The clams were plentiful and it was a fulfilling dish! The fettuccine was just sweet enough and balanced with creaminess. The sauces weren't separated and not at all greasy. The lobster was great quality and supple. Our waiter recommended their dessert menu and we chose the cheesecake. The caramel bourbon sauce was a bit lacking in flavor and presence but the cheesecake was dense and offered just the right amount of sweetness. The crisp shortbread like bottom was a nice addition but a bit hard. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here for sure! We'd like to try their takeout options in the future! read more

Came here for the Sunset Dinner option with my family - if you come in on the weekdays, you can get a 4-course meal for $22 until 6 pm. You get to an appetizer, choice of chowder or salad, an entree, and dessert. You also get complimentary bread upon arrival. The entree choices for the sunset dinner rotate a lot depending on the season, but there's always a a steak/chicken option for that person who doesn't like seafood. Since my family is willing to share their food, I got to try a little of everything on their menu. Appetizer: - Chilled Oregon Bay Shrimp Cocktail: Bay Shrimp in a mixture of celery and cocktail sauce. Pretty good and refreshing, with a nice crunch from the celery... though I feel like the celery and cocktail sauce overpowered the flavor of the bay shrimp. - Wild Alaska Salmon Croccatini: Thick slice of baked salmon over a bed of what seems to be mashed potatoes, over a crostini. The crostini was nice and buttery, and the salmon was flavorful. I also liked the mixture of mashed potatoes. Between the two choices, I'd recommend getting the salmon crostini... it was really good. Chowder: Anthony's is pretty famous for their clam chowder... and it was a big bowl when I went. I always enjoy eating their chowder since it has a good flavor and good portion of clams. Make sure to add some ground pepper to it! Bleu Cheese Salad: Surprisingly, this salad had bay shrimp in it! It was actually pretty good and the bleu cheese never overpowered the salad - in fact, it complimented it. Entrees: - Pan Fried Sole: They seem to switch off of Pan Fried Trout and Pan Fried Sole... I've had both here and they are delicious. Whatever seasoning they use to cover the fish is great, it has a nice layer of flavor after being fried. This time it was sole. Funny, this was my entree and I forgot to take a picture of it. Guess I dove right into eating it. - Pan Fried Oysters: The oysters are lightly breaded and fried - I like that the breading is light so you can still taste the oyster. They're pretty big oysters too! if you love fried oysters, I recommend getting this dish as it's always delicious. - Alaskan True Cod Ganty: Very flavorful fish that went well with the sour cream + dill mixture that it was topped with. Cod is normally a boring fish, but this was actually really good. Very light. All the entrees came with a side of tasty basmati rice pilaf and some veggies. The rice is really good with the fish as they are tasty on their own. But the veggies are hit or miss - this time it was snow peas, but I like it better when they do green beans instead. Dessert: - Burnt Creme: There were other dessert options... but my family generally gets the burnt creme aka creme brulee. It's hard to go wrong with creme brulee, so of course this was good! Service was friendly and prompt and they were good at filling our waters. I love how every seat in this restaurant gives you a fantastic view of the harbor. If it's warm outside, they also have outdoor seating. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for as far as seafood. I find them a better deal than other local seafood places in Seattle like Palisade and Salty's. Also it's hard to beat the Sunset Dinner deal - considering most dinner entrees are regularly around $20+, this is a fantastic deal. For example, the pan fried sole I ordered with this deal was $20 regularly on their menu. With all the add ons, you certainly get your money's worth. Fair warning, it is a lot of food and you may start feeling full after eating their bowl of chowder... just be sure to save some room for dessert. ;) read more

Perfect patio dining at the top of Gig harbor. All of the food was delicious. We took advantage of the summer menu and ordered the peach daiquiris, but virgin because we had to drive home. They were refreshing and hit the spot after SUP around the harbor. We indulged in the crab artichoke dip. We were expecting a creamy dip, but it is more butter based. Was very good and not overly large. The ahi nachos on taro chips were light and had the added bonus of pineapple that made them very refreshing. The last item we split was the spinach salad with peaches. Overall not a huge lunch but so refreshing. And the view can't be bit. read more

This is the 3rd, or 4th location of Anthony's we have been to. I am thinking it is the 4th. We try to make it a family thing when we are with my Brother in law, and his wife. We had dinner reservations, and were seated promptly. We had an amazing view of the Harbor. I love the fresh halibut from here. My halibut was delicious, and very fresh. I was sad for my Sister in law because she loves salmon. As soon as they set her salmon down it looked dry to me. I didn't say anything... well she ate a few bites, and remained quiet. Then said it was dry, and was not thrilled. She said she could make better salmon at home. Insert sad panda face. She does make great salmon, but we were out for a wonderful meal...or what should have been. My Brother in law had scallops, he said they were not bad, but he said they tasted like they were probably not the freshest. So he didn't finish his. They looked a little shrunk if you asked me. Honestly I should have taken a picture of their meal. Kicking myself for not. I don't think by any means this will detour them from coming in. We are still planning on other trips to Anthony's. My guy had a steak that was cooked to his perfection. They come with those onion straws. I would think sautéed onions would pair a little better with the steak. But it's not my menu. It just seemed a little cheap. But he didn't complain. It was just my observation. I am the steak head. I felt like kind of a jerk because I ordered one of their specialty drinks. One that I normally would have liked. I had to send it back. I just could not drink it, and had to order something else. I am not that type of person who typically sends things back, but I just could not have that drink sit there. You bet we were charged for it.... 2 sips at best! Ha I almost forgot about coconut shrimp. It was very good. It wasn't the best I have had, but it is up there with some of the best. I even got my Brother, and Sister in law to try it. Colleagues made dinner reservations here for our group of 6. We had planned to arrive early to have a drink at the bar; however, the bar was full, BUT they were able to seat us immediately. We were led to a table next to the large windows with beautiful views of the harbor. I imagine this is spectacular in the summer time. They only have a couple selections of Chardonnay by the glass, but the more expensive one was very good. I opted for the Rockfish with Cajun spices. It was very good. Fish was fresh and the spices were just the right level of kick for me. For dessert, I ordered a chocolate martini which was good. My only critique was they brought the check without us asking, before our desserts had arrived. Odd timing and it wasn't because there were people waiting. read more

Went here last week for a friends wedding reception. Wow! What a great experience. Fabulous service, wonderful food and the view was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to rent it for a private function. Appetizers were passed first. A yummy bruschetta type app & a delicious hot smoked cheesy fish spread on toasted bread slices. Could have ate about 20 of them but restrained myself to 3. A buffet luncheon of cheese, crackers & fruit, Caesar salad, salmon or prime rib with green beans and potatoes. A basket of warm bread and butter delivered to each table. Today was the first day in many years that I had a poor fish dish. It pains me to write a bad review because this place has always been delicious. Do not buy fish and peach. Our server was way overloaded with tables. So even if he was a good server, he wouldn't have had the chance to show it. I ordered a roasted pear martini and had to send it back. It had some kind of weird, awful, pungent taste to it, almost like they added beer, and it was room temperature. So I ordered a regular lemon drop, explained I needed it better than room temperature. It came back a little better than room temperature and a big disappointment. I had the fresh Alaskan salmon, 35+ dollars. It was overcooked and also about room temperature. The rice that came with it was more than a couple tablespoons of rice and the broccoli was mediocre at best. Overall a lousy meal. You definitely pay for the view because they put little to no effort into quality of their food or cocktails. A big fat thumbs down on this one. read more

The service here is so bad it's laughable. It was quite embarrassing to take my best friend and his family here from half a continent away in the hope of eating at a "fancy" restaurant worthy of the visit. The utter incompetence and laziness on display was bizarre and off putting. First off, they seemed very flummoxed by the presence of the kids. I had to be extremely assertive to get booster seats, and without my intervention, the staff would've served the kids water in glass wine goblets. Not only did they not have kid menus available, no one could name a single thing on it or had any idea what the prices might be. Not even a guess. When we started randomly naming things one might find on a kid's menu, we were told, "Yeah...we might have something like that." At one point I think half the staff there were looking for kid's menus--and of course nothing online. By the time we were finishing our meals a waitress proudly produced a couple of menus, but by then it was way too late. When I asked for A1 with my mediocre burger I was told enthusiastically, "Yes! We have that!" And then that server disappeared and never returned. Ten minutes later I went to the kitchen myself and got it. But to do so, I had to interrupt a personal conversation between my serve and the rest of the wait staff. I had to get up several times to get help. Despite the fact that the place was nearly empty, most of the servers just stood around talking to each other and even the managers did not appear to even be pretending to look busy. Anthony's is the poster child for why I avoid restaurants with a nice view. They just figure you'll feel so lucky to be staring out their windows that you won't notice you just bought a bunch of overpriced, crappy seafood and sat through some of the most indolent, inept wait staffing you've ever experienced. Experiences like this is the main reason I don't eat out much. I can put a much tastier meal on my table for a fraction of the cost--and the service is better too! I get it. I understand that most service people hate their jobs, hate their customers, and get paid very little. I'm sure I would too. All the more reason to avoid the entire scene. For the record, the food at the Tacoma Anthony's is just as bad, but the service is slightly better, but only if it's a slow day. read more

The location in Gig Harbor has a wonderful few of the harbor and docks. Most of the tables have a harbor view. The seafood is good and a variety o,f options on the menu. Service is efficient and friendly. Some items seem overpriced, however the cost of seafood is also higher in the markets. Parking can be a challenge on busy nights. read more

My mom's cousin and her daughter came to visit from Colorado. They have come here to visit quite a few times and we always go to Anthony's on the first night. By the way both my mom and her cousin are 88 years old. We always have the best food at Anthonys. My mom and her cousin both had the Sunset dinner. My mom had the blackened rockfish. Each course was delicious and well thought out. I had the amazing lick your plate clean shrimp and grits. It really felt like a special occasion and the service was personalized and made us all feel well taken care of. My partner and I visited last night. The food an wine was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of clams, but the mussels were great, too. For dessert, I ordered a rhubarb cake. Again they were out. The waiter and I exchanged stories how we dipped rhubarb into sugar and ate it as children. When we were ready to leave, he brought me a box of freshly cut rhubarb coated lightly in sugar- to take home. Crunchy rice in my poke bowl, Caesar salad was small, and very bland, drinks are way overpriced and a menu with so few choices we almost left. 20/20 hindsight as always, we should have left and gone across the street. Another wonderful dinner on a beautiful evening at Anthonys Gig Harbor. We always find the service to be top notch at Anthonys and last night was no exception. Our waiter Darren took great care of us within moments of being seated. His knowledge of the menu and attitude really enhanced our anniversary experience. We started with the Crispy Calamari. It came quickly, was hot, crispy and served with a yummy lemon aioli. (so good) For dinner my wife ordered the Dungeness Crab Fettuccine. She smiled after each bite. I ordered the Northwest Cioppino. This dish was loaded with clams, mussels, Dungeness crab legs, salmon and cod in a most tasty tomato basil broth. Even toast to help sop up the goodness of that broth. We were full after all of that but had to have their burnt creme for dessert. It was wonderful. Charming and peaceful! Check it out. I totally spaced on pictures because I came on a Wednesday for a business lunch with my boss. I don't think she would've loved me snapping pics during the meeting. I will definitely get some next time. However, we arrived right at 11:30 when they open for lunch. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. We sat by the window which has a gorgeous view because it's on the water. It was a bit bright for the first few minutes. The food was delicious. I ordered shrimp fettuccine and it came piping hot which I love! Especially because pasta cools fast. My boss has the Caesar salad and chowder bowl which looked nice. I've been coming to gig harbor for years and have patronized this Anthony's on more than one occasion. It consistently sucks in terms of service and the management is beyond incompetent. If you want great food with attentive service, go across the street to Morso or speak with the locals - none of which recommend this place.
