This feedback is for Valentine's Day - simply put I do NOT recommend this establishment. The service at this restaurant is the worst I've ever experienced. When entering the restaurant you are immediately exposed to the smoke from the kitchen. I arrived to pick up a to go order placed online and there was a long line of guests waiting to be seated that went near the door. I stood in the line waiting to see if any of the staff would address the line and to give them grace since it was a holiday. After ~10m that never happened. When I asked one of the wait staff about the process for picking up an order the chef who I'm assuming is either the manager or owner shouts that they had a special menu and were not taking online orders. I asked how to be refunded and he was very rude and no one knew how to advise me. Only one person attempted to help me in between serving her tables about 10 minutes later. She eventually had to advise me to dispute my charge as she had no luck figuring out how to cancel the order. While I waited, I witnessed a frustrated waitress cursing loud enough for those of us waiting close clearly see and here. Several of the guests waiting in line expressed that they had been waiting +45 minutes past their reservation time and had not been addressed a single time. Guests leaving also expressed their surprise that there was still a long line - I'm assuming this was a problem the entire night. I also looked at the special menu for the night and the food was significantly marked up. It's a shame how poorly this restaurant operates. read more

Went to Anthony's Steakhouse the other day and i must say, the owner was so rude. I called to confirm our reservation and he basically told me he had no way of checking to see and of i did reserved online then i was good and he rushed me off the phone stating he was about to open. An excellent experience from start to finish. A very nice and quiet place nestled near the corner of Mansfield Road and Valley View Drive. The Crab Newburg is very delicious. Nice chunks of crab meat in a rich and creamy Newburg sauce served over a piece of white toast. I found the bone-in ribeye to be a surprising hit to my taste buds. A generous hand-cut portion expertly seasoned with Cajun/creole spices and perfectly broiled over an open flame. Of honorable mention is the quality of the beef. No gristle or an excessive amount of fat. The spinalis cap was in good proportion with the eye unlike what's found at many chain restaurants. The steak was very tender and delicious. We had high hopes when selecting Anthony's for our 19-year wedding anniversary. I made reservations three weeks in advance, as well as contacted the establishment via FB to inquire about allergies concerning my wife. No response to my message, but no problem. We arrived on our day to a seemingly run down building and part of town. We were greeted nicely, but our reservation was not referenced (likely due to absolutely one else dining in the restaurant). Unfortunately, the interior matched the outer surroundings. The inner decorations and seating looks like it hasn't been updated since the late 70s or early 80s and detracts from their stated fine dining experience. The salad came directly from a bag and was overwhelmed by the quantity of dressing applied. We had the ribeye, a NY strip, and the salmon, but the quality just didn't match the high prices. We left disappointed, and I was crushed I wasn't able to make a more special night for my beautiful bride. Premium prices for mediocre food and low-quality ambiance; Anthony's standards just don't align to our own. For the same money, we'll be headed back to Fat Calf for our next special occasion. If you choose to try Anthony's I sincerely hope you have a better experience. read more

I always try to do my best to support black owned businesses but when I get responses like the one I got tonight it makes it really hard. Call to make a reservation and the first question I asked was do you all make reservations... The man that answered the phone rudely said duh! That's how he responded to my question... DUH! Wow! So I proceeded to ask if he had reservations for 7 on Saturday. Today is Thursday and his response was "you mean to tell me you called this late for a reservation... Today is Thursday, you might as well say Friday and you want a reservation for Saturday." And then he proceeded to laugh... This used to be one of our favorite places to go for special occasions and birthdays. Their food is excellent and to be fair I'm going to separate this review into two parts - food and value. Food This restaurant probably has some of the best steaks in Shreveport. Always good, always tender. Their scalloped potatoes are a specialty and are delicious. i really have no complaints on the taste or quality of the food. Value My hesitation, and the reason I won't be able to go back very often, is that i can no longer justify the extremely high prices against the smaller serving sizes. I know all restaurants are hurting and having to raise their prices, but Anthony's has finally out priced me. On top of the prices going up, they've closed down their salad bar due to Covid - and continue to have it closed, long after all the other restaurants have fully opened and brought back the salad bars. The salad bar was kind of one of the "perks" of the restaurant, as it was a really good bar, with several different kinds of salads and veggie dishes. So a trip to the salad bar really made you feel like you were "padding" out your meal - take that away and suddenly you're painfully aware that your paying more money, for smaller portions of food. Anthony's is priced at the same range of Ernest of Orleans and Superior Steakhouse. Anthony's lacks the charm of Ernests, or the sophistication of Superior, but I think their steaks are better. They are an establishment restaurant of Shreveport, and as I said, the taste of their food is excellent. If you can afford to drop several hundred dollars on a meal for two, by all means you should give them a try. read more

I didn't get to try their food because they were out of crab, which didn't bother me, so I proceeded to place another order. I mistakenly ordered a dish with CRAB in it and the cook was very upset. I'm sorry, I meant PISSED I ordered a three meat plate with crab in it. The waitress was very nice and explained both dishes were the same price and he could make it. The cook said I had to cancel and order again.. as I began a third order, I could hear the cook talking about me. The kitchen is a stones throw away from me and he wasn't shy.. I told the waitress I should probably should not order again and he told me I should GET THE FUCK ON... I walked out The restaurant completely horrified. My husband and I along with my mother n law visited here on Saturday October 20th 2018. She's been wanting to come here for over 10 years. Her steak entree was lovely and perfect, so was my husband's. However, I want to comment on the service of the black lady who was our server during our visit. We asked about the shrimp n grits, and if it was prepared with a cream based butter sauce or just grits and shrimp. She replied, with "he does his own special thing to it". What can you tell me about the filet? "What's there to say?" My husband said "what makes it great?" She replied with "because chef Anthony cut it". Moving on...the shrimp n grits arrived and...as I thought...just dry grits with shrimp in no sauce. I sent it back. She was annoyed and asked me why and walked off upset. She never apologized and never behaved in a gentle or understanding way that felt accommodating as her guests. She then came BACK a few mins later and asked me again why I sent it back. I explained to her had she given good response to how it was prepared, it wouldn't have happened. Our drinks were never refilled not even once. Dessert was not offered. We are here on business and I am so happy we stumbled upon this quaint, family run gem of a steakhouse. I love steakhouses, but I especially loved this one because it's casual. I don't even know where to begin... I thought there was such a thing as "Southern hospitality" until you go to Anthony's. There is nothing classy about this place for "Fine dining". For a fine dining place, it sure looks like a normal run down place. Learn to do business, I'm surprised you've been hanging on since 1992, you'd think you learn a thing or two about customer service. How this all started: I am on business so I like to venture out to try out local places and support them. I came across Anthony's on Google and decided to give it a shot since it has great reviews but that was definitely a mistake. The website is horrible, things are not organized correctly and too many contradictions on just the whole ordering process. I should of taken this as a red flag but hindsight is 20/20. I followed all the instructions to order my food and was given a text confirmation (nice touch). I ordered at 5:30PM and pickup said estimated 6:45PM. I did not get a text update so I decided to just go since usually they'd call if there's an issue. No news is good news. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the staff and Anthony came out from the kitchen area. He asked if I needed help which I proceed to say that I am here to pickup my online order. He stated that there were many things wrong with my order as he did not get the description of my salad, steak and potato preferences and tried to reach me several times. I stated that I did not get a call and I put in all four points in the description. He handed me the printout and I pointed him my phone number which he quickly dismissed and continued to repeat that I messed up the order with an attitude. I kept my cool and politely asked for a refund since I already waited more than an hour for this order and did not want to wait again. He then walked away and I asked the staff for a refund. She stated that there is no way for them to refund me and I'd have to go to the same app I ordered from. I explained to them again that I ordered this directly from their website. They just started doing other things so I repeated myself and was pretty much told they can't do anything else. I asked to speak to the manager which in this case, Anthony. He started again with his attitude about how I messed up my order and there is no way you can get all this food for $30. I told him it's their website.. I did not program it, I did not set my own prices and I am just following directions. I'm sorry but I can go to a chain restaurant (Texas Roadhouse) get a steak for $30 bucks with bigger sides and be way happier since I wouldn't have to taste your nasty attitude with my food. It's not like you are feeding people Wagu or some special beef, calm down.. you are not special. I then asked for a refund by cash since they already have my payment but they did not want to do that either. This is where I started to lose my cool since it seems like there is no effort or resolution from their end. He started yammering on about how I was the one that messed up the order and there is no way the price is correct. I told him he needed to fix his site. He then just walked away which I told him he needs to learn how customer service works and he told me to get out. I told him some other things that probably would not be nice to put online since he definitely pushed my buttons. Now I have to dispute my charge with Amex which I know I will get back but its not even the cost that I am worried about, its the principle. I am not going to give him any of my money even if it was buck since he does not deserve it. Note to Anthony: You need to chill. Your shirt has holes in it, you might want to check your wardrobe since you're running a "fine dining" place. Check your attitude before you lose all your customers and cleaning the place up a bit won't kill you either. Most of all, fix your garbage website. read more

My husband and I drove in, in my husband's company Truck, in our street clothes and tired from a stressful day. And this was the best experience dining we've had since coming to Shreveport. We've been all over the world, there are less places my husband hasn't been. We've had four star meals, in Brazil, in Mexico, Jamaica, New York, London. I look for the flavor of the area, and Anthonies, did not disappoint. I can't eat much and my husband has a picky stomach. We had steak and shrimp and a baked potato and split it between the two of us. We were stunned at the quality of the meal. There was just enough of a snap in the flavoring to remind you that you were in Louisiana but unlike most places, it wasn't overwhelming. Just perfect. The steak was perfectly done and the shrimp were huge and delicious. The salad ranch dressing was delicious and they brought a small loaf of bread with real butter and it was all we could do to not eat the whole thing and make ourselves sick. My husband and I decided to try this fine location for the first time. Our Anniversary. The dining area is nice and cozy just for an evening out or a special occasion. The table setting is decorated nicely . Soft jazz playing overhead. Now to the best part. I ordered the 8oz steak with fried fillet of catfish and augrautin potatoes, small salad and bread. My husband ordered 8oz steak and quail, small salad and gator bites. Everything was delicious! Steak seasoned to perfection. Catfish fried to perfection. Often times, a dining experience is what you make of it and what perspective you choose to take so in this review, you can choose your point of view. Anthony's is located: a. off the beaten path in an older section of town b. in a rundown section of Shreveport We were seated in the dining room which was a. cozy with an old New York atmosphere b. small and crowded with tables in close proximity to one another and big screen TVs on two walls. Is this a sports bar or a restaurant? The Maitre D' a. appeared to be new to the job and while he could not answer our questions was very friendly and made an effort to assist while waiting for our server to arrive b. had no clue about the wines or the food and did not recognize Sapphire as being gin then asked "what does gin go in?" We ordered cocktails and appetizers. a. The gin and tonic was perfectly made and the Marinated Crab Claws were wonderful served with a small loaf of bread to dip in the excellent marinade sauce b. The Crab Meat Au Gratin was more like a dip but came with no toast points for dipping. When our dining companions asked about this, the server brought one of the small loaves of bread but the effect was not the same as would have been toast points, toasted bagels, or something similar. We ordered the entree and were invited to help ourselves to the salad bar. a. Along with tossed salad, the salad bar had blue cheese crumbles, spinach, potato salad, macaroni salad, and a couple of other simple salads. b. Unfortunately, the tossed salad was Iceberg salad-in-a-sack that didn't look too fresh and the blue cheese dressing looked like it had been sitting out for a while. When the entrees arrived a. The sea bass was perfectly cooked topped with a generous portion of lump crab meat and served with cheesy Au Gratin potatoes. The frog legs were OK and served with the same potatoes. The wine list was good and not over priced. b. While placing our order we asked the server if we could order any side dishes (i.e. broccoli or some other veggie) and she shook her head "no", but later we saw other diners with grilled asparagus. When the check arrived a. We were pleasantly surprised to see a reasonable (under $100) price for dinner for four (but only 3 entrees because one couple shared) b. Thought we should have ordered dessert and asked for a credit for the crab Au Gratin. In summary, I won't go out of my way to go back to Anthony's but if I were invited to go, I would not refuse to do so. Some serious improvements could be made by having knowledgeable servers to improve the experience, getting rid of the big screen TVs at least during dinner, and by replacing the "nothing to write home about" salad bar with a few high-end made-to-order salads. We came just as they opened for dinner so maybe it took some time to get the grill heated up but we were getting bit impatient since we had skipped lunch.
