URBAN OUTFITTERS FOR OLDER PEOPLE (3 stars) Growing up I categorized this as an old people store. Well, I grew up and now I'm that old person. The clothes aren't of interest but why did I see a ton of younger people hitting g up the sales rack looking for items that would fit a thrifty outfit. My interest were some of their cute fun theme kitchen glassware. Yes, that stuff interest me these days. Who have I become?! Don't pass on this store... there are random interesting things to buy. I love Anthropologie. The clothing is creative and unique, but still classic and classy. They have great pieces. I love the sale section, because they always have largely discounted items that are stylish. The sale section is a gold mine because they put great pieces in there. The only challenge is navigating through it because of how small and messy it can get! I also love Anthropologie for their home goods. They make the cutest glassware. Terrible customer service. For 2 months we have been going back and forth trying to get a damaged rug returned to them however they continue to "escalate" my request for a replacement or refund and no one gets back to me in 48-72 hours as they promise. When I reach back out, even with my case number and the text script they tell me the process they outlined is not what they said and the troubleshooting starts over. I love Anthropologie, however this terrible customer service is enough for me to never shop here again. read more

Anthro is my favorite clothing store strictly for their sale rack. They frequently have sales ranging from 20-40% off their sale items. With a little patience, you can find some cute items in your size! I usually walk away with a few sale items on hand :). Their regular items are too overpriced for me. Quality is good and stylish! I love the bags that they put your purchases in because they have such cute designs. I've also bought dishware here. Their designs are unique and the plates are durable. Sadly, this is the closest Anthro for me since they closed the Chula Vista one several years ago :( read more

I get it now. I get why people love Anthropologie. In a related topic, the mall is open and active with little fear of Covid but all customers and stores seem to be happy wearing and enforcing masks, which I appreciate. I don't know what I expected when walking in. I guess I assumed it was going to be an Urban Outfitters type of place and I don't see that being completely off base. Think of it as a grown up Urban Outfitters with much nicer things, a strong but not overwhelming selection, and an easy to navigate sales floor. We found exactly what we were looking for and were in and out of Anthropologie in about five minutes because they were preparing to close for the day. I did see them turning people away as the clock ticked towards closing hour unless they were there to make an exchange, but not shop - makes sense to me. While the prices aren't exactly cheap, the products being sold are of high quality and are eye-catching. Let's hope our gift is appreciated by the lucky recipients! read more

Anthro is hands-down my favorite clothing store. They just have clothes that are so unique that you never have to worry about somebody wearing the same thing as you. I always receive several compliments on anything that I've ever purchased from Anthro.The interior decor items are also unique and amazing. I've been a loyal shopper of Anthro since 2008 and really the only 2 negative experiences I've had were at the Fashion Valley location. Worst was today and witnessed by my 12-year old son. If you are in the retail business please make sure that that staff especially the managers are personable and customer focused. Today the manager on duty instead of properly explaining that I needed to check for an email notification that I had picked up an item which I never did (I called the store in advance and they told me my item was there) I got a matter of fact/dry demand that I check my email notification from them. Their confusion should not be at the expense of the customer. I won't go into detail but this has got to be the most rude and condescending retail experience I've had. I don't see why this person couldn't have explained the matter properly and not have acted all snippy. Anthropologie UTC and Carlsbad have better staff and selections. I will not be shopping at this location any more because of this horrible experience. read more

Despite all the similar reviews about the lack in customer service, it does not appear that management cares about the negative reviews. On 4/8/19 at around 2pm, I went into this store and immediately saw a group of three employees talking, and as I got closer, they continued to talk amongst themselves and my presence was completely ignored! I looked at them directly hoping I would get a "hi" or "welcome"...NOTHING!!! I was aggravated at this point but I went ahead and started browsing anyway. I went in the back to this tiny makeshift closet/section of their sale items. Again, I saw two more employees who were talking amongst each other. Same response...NOTHING!!! They continued on in their conversation. Eventually, they walked out without saying a word to me! I made my way to the cashier. She acknowledged my presence, I guess because she's about to get a sale! She handed me my shopping bag and said, "BYE!". And that was it! These people are in the wrong business. Furthermore, I think the corporation needs to do an overhaul in their management department! They know nothing about treating customers with respect at the very least! One word about this particular store...DISCRIMINATION!!! What a shame ANTHROPOLOGIE, for allowing this behavior in your store to continue!!!! read more

This place just smells soooooo damn good! I gotta figure out what they did to make their store smell so delicious, because I want to do the same thing at my pad! By no means am I an Anthropologie regular, but I've never had a bad experience shopping there. It's not the cheapest place on the block, but it's definitely a great place to get gifts for the ladies in the fam-damily. They've got all sorts of candles, cookware, books, bedding and various other accoutrements that'll surely get a rise out of the females in your life. If you're looking for last-minute holiday goods, make sure they hook you up with one of their button ribbons. They're awesome! I needed a mad break from work, been typin away at the PC, I realized that a break was well needed. I wanted to do something different, so I decided to drive on over to Fashion Valley, let's be real folks, my work is 5 min. away from THE mall of San Diego. The first store I decided to walk into was a store I had never seen in my life. What's Anthropologie?? Didn't Ruhel or Ruhl or whatever failed Abercrombie business used to be there? As soon as I walked in I smelled the aroma of candles and bath crystals. No joke, I smelled it and there is proof because they were selling a whole bunch on a cool and decorated table. Not only was the aroma invigorating, but the country urban artistic feel was def. present. It was a clothing store/candle & bath store/art store all in one. I was really impressed with the works of art and presentation of products on the floor. Now the clothing....well....let's say, this store is for the rich hipsters of San Diego. It really is expensive clothing, but the style of clothing is vintage country girl bohemian. Well that's what I think, I'm not an expert on fashion, but that's my word on that so go with it if you will. I had found out that this the store itself has taken on what the Gap does...Anthropologie is the high class store to Urban Outfitters, it all made sense when the worker gave me the info. I was impressed. Now let's be real on the realsies Yelpers, I don't shop here. I didn't know what the store was about. And no, I didn't try on clothes either. I've been on an Anthro kick for few weeks now due to their Holiday sale. Not going to go into detail about their clothes but just about this location. FV's (Fashion Valley) is large but their sales section is terrible. Totally cramped and unorganized. On a weekend, it feels like you're a struggling newborn pup (w/ the rest of the newborn pups/women) fighting for mama dog's teat). It's total chaos. And there are no owners (in this case store managers or employees) to control the chaos. Recently went here trying to exchange a damaged jacket. It was missing buttons and had hole in pocket. After waiting in the holiday line for 15 minutes, the unfriendly cashier asked what the issue was and I kindly asked if they could look for another coat that wasn't damaged. She spent 2 minutes looking online for coat. Said nope, nothing available. I asked if they could give me additional discount so I can get the pocket repaired and buttons replaced. She went to her already stressed out manager who told her to tell me 'no, you already received 30% off the coat'. WTH lady. The 30% was for everything on sale rack. NOT for damaged coats. Similar undamaged coat was given 30% off already. I'm not asking to make out like a bandit here. I just want either a new undamaged coat or an additional discount so i can get the coat repaired so I can wear it and look awesome at my NYE party. Sis and I left dumbfounded. I called the UTC location (where I originally bought the coat) and Linda , the manager, was so incredible. She made my grumpy feeling about Anthro go away and fixed the situation. She was surprised that FV didn't offer an additional discount. Linda, while on phone with me, found 2 exact brand new coats at South Coast. Well well well...isn't *THAT* a shocker Miss-Lazy-Pants FV-cashier/manager. She gave me an additional discount since I didn't want to wait for an undamaged coat to arrive. If you're a husband who goes shopping with your wife this place is great. However, you may have to fight someone over the limited number chairs they have. The chairs they have a very comfortable but they are usually occupied, if I'm there then I'm definitely in one of the chairs so good luck getting me out of it. My wife loves this place, so as they say, 'happy wife equals happy life'. All sorts of artsy girly stuff in this place. Very disappointed customer. I've been shopping at Anthropologie for years but this location always gives me a weird vibe. Okay, I may not to be their typical customer but I do enjoy candles. Today I found a couple of candles I liked so I grabbed them and continue to shop around. This creepy sales lady asked me if she could hold my candles at the front counter. I said "no thanks" and she continued to follow me... she totally made me feel like I was going to steal something! She was using her radio thingy to describe me. I went to check out and explained my situation to a different sales associate. She said "We always ask our customers if we can hold their items at the front counter. It's normal." I think I've never felt so uncomfortable and shamed in my life. ... I know when things are on sale most of the time they're final sale - i get it - but when I've been shopping here for years everyone has always been SO helpful and let me switch the size if something didn't fit. I ordered online on sale and had the absolute most uncomfortable interaction and as someone who doesn't like confrontation I was shaking by the response. I was told in response to my little explanation - did i read the receipt - and i said yes I'm sorry but it doesn't fit is there any way - and was then asked again - did i read the receipt? It's final sale. No. And the women "helping" said there is NOTHING she could do and just looked at me. I said since i ordered online maybe i should deal with it online or with customer service then because they might be able to help and the response was yea you should do that. I told her since got it online and then it allowed me to send my items back online because they gave me a return label but she told me there was nothing she could do. I called customer service and they told me it shouldn't have been as serious as it was and that customer service is their priority, that i could start my refund through their online system and even continue to return it in store. It even brought me up a bar code to have her scan. I came back in ( shaking now) and upset that i wasted so much time and told her online and customer service helped and said it shouldn't be an issue. She asked me to show her where it said this. I showed her where i started my return and selected in store return. From there she said nothing, didn't look at me and passed me the receipt and walked away. No words said no "I'm sorry about that, no problem" just dirty blank looks. I've worked in retail for years and feel like I say sorry even when it's not my fault or there's anything wrong and want to make everyone feel comfortable and helped so having this experience just made me completely anxious and nervous. LOVE THIS STORE! Hate the customer service. I'm pretty sure my last review got deleted, but whatever. They're not very friendly here. It's as if I'm working with a customer when I walk in because I go out of my way to be nice to them and see how their day is going. Shouldn't it be the other way around? I absolutely love their sale section. The majority of my plates are from there and they're so great! I'm also a huge fan of the volcano scented candle. I wish I could have hundreds in my apt, but they're a bit pricey :/ I'll stick to one at a time though. I'm also really sad that they discounted my perfume. I guess they do that a lot with their fragrances. That's not this particular stores problem though. I would just suggest that they're friendlier. Maybe assign a greeter at your door? Or have one of the four girls behind the counter actually go on the floor to see how everyone is doing. Especially when there isn't even a line. read more

Absolutely stunning fabrics, especially the ones used in bedding stuff. So beautifully presented, what a great job of the Anthropology store stylists! If I could choose, I would love to live in one of those stores (reduced size is ok). Is impossible not to go to the Fashion Valley mall and pay a visit. Clothes are vintage inspired and usually not what I would wear, although in counted occasions I get certain pieces like cardigans or tops on sale. Otherwise it is a little too expensive. I like the rustic feel of the kitchen apparel they present and you can also get lost here by just touching, smelling those soaps, admiring the design of the creations. Lot of art in each piece. My favorite parts of this store is anything related to bedding plus the kitchen cups, mugs, plates. The tea cups with plate make a wonderful gift. They look vintage but not grandma-style. Anthropologie is my safe haven and has been for well over 27 years. I first found them in Newport's Fashion Island and fell head over heels. This is my go to location since I moved back to SD. The ladies and gentlemen who work here are always so helpful, kind, and go above and beyond customer service. The store has just recently reopened and has shorter hours due to Covid-19 so call ahead instead of relying on the website. Also they close the dressing rooms 30 minutes prior to closing to sanitize it. Please be kind to everyone working especially in retail. read more

Anthropologie is fabulous. Everything here is simply magical. It's like walking into a dream lifestyle - everything you could possibly need or want is in this store. But the most beautiful part is how they arrange the goods. Seriously, the designers know how to pull off glamorous and whimsical like nobody's business. This Anthro store was definitely large and had plenty of sizes. My only complaint was the closet sized sale rack. It had to have been the smallest sale section in any Anthro I've ever shopped (and I've shopped quite a few). Service was a little lackluster. We were greeted immediately upon entering, but never again asked for assistance or even approached for a dressing room. Even though I greatly dislike being hounded by associates, I've come to expect these few interactions with employees. Besides the hiccup in service, the entire space was just as it should be. I love them so much that I make up excuses to buy them: "Yes, I TOTALLY need this perfume atomizer 'cause my perfume bottle is so lame", "Of course I need this giant fabric-covered J, so people know it's my place", "Fuck yea, I've gotta have this duck measuring cup set since my plastic ones are old". Oh Anthropologie, how i want to just kick everyone out and move myself in. I love everything in the store, from the unique furniture pieces to the color coordinated sales sections. Every time i walk into the store, i am greeted by smiling faces and the great blend of all the candles. Ladies in the fitting rooms are always so helpful and everyone wants to "start a fitting room for you." I've never had a bad experience here and since I live right across the street, i can honestly say I come here more than i go to the grocery store. (i know, it's a real problem, but we're not here to talk about that..) My issue with the store is, everything on its website look Amazing on the models, but when they get to me, the clothes can sometimes morph into a weird looking piece of clothing. That said, this store has almost all of the items in stock so it gives me an opportunity to try things on and buy with confidence. So sad. I am literally standing outside of the store right now. I entered the store about 15 min ago- there's a tall-ish girl in the front with long hair in a pony tail-seems to be obsessed with a project and not her clients that are entering in and out of the store- looks right at me and dismissed me. I even made it a point to linger a bit longer to see if she'd acknowledge me, and to no avail. I had an online order to pick up- so I picked it up- and then started to look around and found several new pieces I really wanted to try on. Not one person spoke to me, not one person asked if they could help me and not one person informed me that the fitting rooms were closed and that we couldn't try on any clothes.- they've previously always been open- during covid- And there were several people flying all around the store with "projects" So sad. Speaking for myself, I'm a GOOD customer. I noticed that an item I ordered Online was in fact available in another size, which I had previously been notified was not available. I go get back in line to make an exchange and tall girl with the ponytail steps back into the cashier area as if to help, looks at me and steps away again. So no service again from ponytail girl. no hello from anybody, I even had to greet the cashier. You would think that during this unique time in our world that everybody would be a little bit more grateful for each other, AND for the business etc. I left ANTHROPOLOGIE FASHION VALLEY today not feeling valued, appreciated or welcomed. I used to love Anthropologie but I'm over it. This location refused to honor the return policy listed on my receipt. The cashier attempted to take my original receipt and throw it away so I couldn't contact corporate with the facts after informing me that "corporate doesn't tell them what to do", what? I was treated very poorly regardless of my calm and patient demeanor, all I wanted was my refund that my receipt stated I was clearly entitled to. I bought a dress here, after ONE wear the beads are falling off. I don't have the receipt and I've had it in my closet too long before I wore it for the first time. Great customer service. I don't like to be difficult but if I'm paying for something I want exactly what I want. I wanted a pot that was on display and they took the time to take the display plant out, wash it and wrap it up so I could buy it. There were four or five of the same pot without a plant but I really liked the finish on this particular one. I wanted something that wasn't in their store so the clerk called other stores in the area to find the items for me so that I could get the free delivery if you order in the store. They did other things to make sure that I got what I wanted in the most convenient way possible. Kudos to efficiency, hard workers and making the customer happy. read more

Oh my dearest sweetest Anthropologie how I hate to love you, well actually it's not me it's my wallet and my husband who don't approve of you. The clothing items I have collected over the years are still in perfect shape. You pay top dollar for unique garments that will accompany you in all your journeys. You know how you look at magazines and love the outfit, you buy it expecting to have that easy breezy relax chic feeling... Well this is the same feeling I get when I wear a unique blouse or sweater or dress from here. I also love the kitchen accessories, little by little I collect some items to give my kitchen that little "Jazzy" touch. I'm in love with this place, my bank account...not so much. I went here and put some things on hold for a day while I went to the bank to take out a second mortgage for my purchase. I was 24 hours late getting back and all my stuff was already sold. Red Flag!! They're like Costco, you have to get while the gettin's good or it will be gone! HOWEVER, they jumped through hoops to find me the items I needed. And within a week I had everything. I could tell by the Bohemian vibe that they must be associated with another of my favorite stores, Urban Outfitters. I'm glad I found this place because I loved U.O's housewares which they no longer carry in their downtown store. Now I know where to find them. This place has a great "Sale Room" too. This is by far my favorite store in the mall, any mall to be exact. It smells enchanting,everything looks so darn cute in this store! I want to live, breath, eat, and poop anthro! Their home goods section is to die for! I just bought these small china ceramic bowls, mismatched but have a similar color scheme and color palate that make them amazing complements to my dark grey Ikea Plates! yea! haha I also have one of their adorable initial mugs. The sale section at anthro is never on the super cheap side, but they are considerably marked down from their highly marked up initial prices. They have pretty good associates there, always friendly and attentive. The only downside is that they're experimenting with mobile check out systems on Iphones and I think there are a lot of glitches... took me 10 minutes to check out because it was malfunctioning... boo :P read more
