A lovely local sandwich joint! I stopped in for a bite while exploring Point Ruston. It's just a few blocks from the water! From the moment I walked in, everything felt rustic, warm, and homey. Since it was my first time, I asked for tons of recs and the team was super friendly! I ended up getting the Avocado, cheese, sprout, & tomato (which the cashier said was one of her favs) and added salami for some protein. I got it on dark rye which was really nice! We came here right after Point Defiance Park. It was a very busy Tuesday afternoon. The place is huge and they sell all kinds of items from Mexico, Guatemala, & Nepal, you can get a felt bird house, T-shirt, a mask hand painted Made out of coconut shells and a large rug. I got a heart shaped soap super cute. I wanted to try a sardine sandwich and I feel like I put too much honey mustard sauce in it which overpowered the flavors. It had a good amount of sardines and came with a small side salad. I added a hard boiled egg that went well with it. You can order this sandwich with wheat or rye bread. I ordered it with rye. The hit cider drink paired well with my Marion berry pie. I would come back and order the same sandwich with less sauce. Atom you would have just gotten a drink. read more

I feel like I was eating in a live farmers market! Every corner is utilized for either seating or displaying local art and merch. Mostly everything was for sale too (as far as I could tell). Two good things about it: it's conveniently located just south of the Ruston ferry terminal and they have a nice outdoor seating area where you can bring your dog. Otherwise, the sandwiches we ordered were really bland and small for $13.50. They claim to make their own meats but the turkey was tasteless and the salami was really bland. We asked for swiss cheese on the turkey and got some sort of shredded cheese - cost $2.50 extra. The iced tea was $3.75 and tasted like soap. Undrinkable. When I complained, the distracted server told me it was probably because the glass was improperly washed and offered me a refill. No thanks. I love to support local businesses but we'll be driving past this place next time. read more

I spotted this uniquely named restaurant as I was driving up to hike Defiance Point in Tacoma. I mentally noted to stop here for lunch and I did. The menu is great and is loaded with generous portioned salads and sandwiches along with coffee and home baked goods. They also make all their salad dressing and they generously gave it to me in a cup for my salad. The store has such a great ambiance with nice handcrafted items for sale. The line gets long and the service is moderately paced. There is a small parking lot but I parked in the neighborhood as it was full. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

Antique Sandwich's ambiance is eclectic, almost like a movie set from some nondescript bohemian era. You feel like you stepped back in time and don't want to leave just yet. They serve up simple yet hearty sandwiches, soups, and pastries. I love the simplicity of their menu. You order up at the counter and find a table to wait at. I ordered a whole egg salad sandwich on gluten free bread (yes they have it) and a side salad with their house made tahini dressing. I was expecting a tiny sandwich, as gluten free bread slices tend to be quite dainty. They made me what was two actual sandwiches, using 4 pieces of bread. I was STUFFED. The egg salad was creamy and flavorful, and I loved how they really packed the sandwiches with it. The raw sunflower seeds were a nice touch on top of the side salad. If the weather cooperates, I suggest taking your meal outside to their cute patio. Otherwise, enjoy your meal inside while admiring the interesting decor and listening to the pianist tinkling away. read more

The vibes in this place are immaculate! Seems like such a cozy place to have lunch. The front desk folks were nice too. The reason we went here is because their Google profile said they allow dogs. The food and latte were amazing! I liked that there were wheat sprouts on the sandwhich. They were a bit busy when I got here so it took a little bit for my food to come out, but the ambiance is quaint and makes up for it. I wanted to not like this place, mostly because it's such a cool building in an amazing location that I've always felt like it would make an awesome music bar. However, I really can't complain when I come for lunch and order the most expensive thing on the menu and it costs me a whopping $16 with tip. Most lunch items range from $8-12. Yes it's just a sandwich on store bought bread, but the sandwiches are good and the price is fair. In dinning room feels really honey and inviting. It's the kind of place you could hang out and read a book while enjoying one of their coffee drinks. Food and drinks are ordered at the counter and then brought out to your table. This is an interesting, cozy cafe-style restaurant serving homey food. It's attached to a hops store and cafe food court so the vibes were muted and lively. The old-fashioned decor included wonderful wood tones, a raised stage with shelves of antique books, and aesthetic and high quality displays with nice groupings like PNW nature. We ordered the tossed salad with berry vinaigrette, homemade tabouli, and marionberry pie with 2 large, complimentary scoops of vanilla ice cream. Everything came in generous portions (for a great price) and tasted homemade with love. None of this is shocking, what's shocking is how folks come on here to leave 1 star reviews as if this isn't a small business. Go mess with venture capitalists, not small local businesses. Your values are showing!! I'd love to see them run a cafe! This place is amazing, I used to pick up my packages here when I lived at salmon beach back in the 90's and early 2000's. They are wonderful people and I'm grateful to have spent a portion of my childhood eating here. There was this raspberry cider that's wildly delicious. There is a piano and a kid playground area in the middle of the restaurant. There are lots of merchandise for sale on display on the wall from different small businesses. There was also a stand with someone selling the products. It was quite fun to walk around checking out these items while waiting for your food to be ready. There are lots of tables which is suitable for big groups and families. It was not too loud. Food: You order at the counter, then the staff will bring it out to your table. We only order sandwiches but they had drinks and dessert as well. You can customize your bread for sandwiches (except for a few of them like poor boy sandwich), each whole sandwich comes with a side salad. Hummus sprouts tomato sandwich: 3.5/5 Very yummy, hummus was creamy. Poor boy sandwich: 4/5 really delicious, has lots of meat. Both of them were a bit bland, they provided salt and pepper on each table which helped. But I was hoping for a bit more flavors. The side salad was pretty good, the homemade dressing tasted great. They have a diverse breakfast menu - multiple savory options in addition to sweet baked goods. I love Rubens, but I am from the south. The Ruben I paid 16.00 for was small marble bread not the deli, sliced bread, that wasn't toasted so it was soft and soggy. The food, while fairly priced, was quite bland. I loved the decor as they had a great vintage nostalgia, but unfortunately the vintage theme bled into the aroma of the restaurant... ie: it smelled like moth balls. All around the store is a bunch of cool history, antiques and quirky signs. I was surprised as how many unique choices of salad dressings, sandwiches and tons of options for desserts. they also have fresh lemonade that is so fresh and sour! It was a sunny day and had our little pup so we decided to enjoy the lovely eating area outside. The picnic tables were soo cute and very Instagramable (or tiktok-able ). They do provide shade over almost tables and chairs outside and is pet friendly. My boyfriend ordered the meatloaf sandwich with rye to try something new and it came with a salad (we chose blue cheese dressing). Classic sandwich, i love the bean sprouts they added. We were driving to Tacoma Commencement Bay. I always want to go to this place when I see the signboard. The appearance and interior of the shop has a nostalgic atmosphere. There are miscellaneous goods and clothes in the store, so it's good to see them between meals. Next to the shop there is a place to eat in the garden. You will love eating in the garden. There are tables and chairs in the store where you can eat too. The shop staff wears masks but wearing a mask is up to you. We looked menu board and ordered Avocado cheese sprouts lettuce sandwich and Reuben sandwich. And choice of salad or chips. Water is self-service. Both sandwiches were delicious especially avocado was satisfied with plenty of sprouts and thick sandwich. I really liked it. I took some time to decide on the menu but lady was nice and kind.
