This was a saving grace during a road trip last August on what could have been a disastrous evening - our hotel didn't have the room we booked and the town was sold out, so we had more driving (to steamboat springs) to do after a long day of driving. Definitely the best restaurant in town. I only went for happy hour, so only tried the appetizers. I recommend the Fried Pickles. The pickles were very good with homemade ranch dip to accompany it. The Coconut Shrimp had a lot of coconut, but the sauce didn't taste homemade. The service was very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again. read more

It was our first tune in Yampa/Steamboat area and everyone in around kept telling us that we needed check out this spot. I'm here to report that Antlers lives up to the hype and more! It was so good we ended up coming twice in one week. For round one I got the Asian wings, tasted great. For round two I got the chicken fried steak and my wife got a burger. Both were cooked to perfection. In addition to the amazing food, the service and atmosphere was amazing. Two guys playing banjo and the friendliest staff in the world. I haven't been back here for 4 years and heard that it had new owners so I made the hour trek to the Antlers to check it out. Decor and atmosphere are still uniquely awesome. Staff were super friendly and food was gourmet quality at affordable prices. While is almost the only game in town, it worth adding this restaurant to your itinerary if you're traveling through. Check out 'Colorado Rear Wolf' behind the Men's bathroom door and ask about the story behind the paintings on the wall. So much charm and delicious food to boot. So glad to see this place busy! I don't see many reviews so I think the locals are purposely keeping this hidden gem to themselves. Don't blame 'em. read more

Dined there four times. Nothing but great food. The menu isn't extensive but very thoughtful pairings: Cheddar Mac and Cheese with braised pork and green chiles. Pork chop served over roasted corn and cream with bacon and green chilis under a parmesan crust, topped with demi-glace and crisp onions. Some locally sourced ingredients. Service is warm but not obtrusive. Good cocktails, wine selection. It's where local ranch families come to dine on weekends. Expect boots and jeans and maybe a few stares. Some may come from the mounts on the walls. All very authentic. The views down around Yampa are stunning so enjoy the drive. Well worth it. read more

What a find in the tiny town of Yampa CO. The food is outstanding and atmosphere is welcoming. The chef and his wife are recently from New Orleans and have come back home to bring some good Southern cooking to Yampa while keeping the ranch town comfort of this historic building. And hey who can argue with 16oz PBR at happy hour price of only $2. And you have to try the Asian Ginger wings. They make the sauce in house with a Vietnamese flare .... Yum. The Chicken Fried Steak with garlic mash potatoes and the Fish and Chips was also fabulous. The steaks cooking in the immaculate kitchen smelled great too. Nice beer selection. Good service. Cool ambiance. Cocktails are 'meh', and the food is mediocre at best (for the price charged). I had the trout special, which was over-seasoned and not advertised as seasoned (would have preferred a bit of butter and some salt and pepper) I know there was good meat under all that rub.. the baked potato was dry and the veggies soggy. My son started with the coconut shrimp which we had to send back because they were cold in the middle, then when a new batch was sent out, it was overcooked and tasteless. His prime rib was OK.. but over seasoned again. My husband had the duck.. and again, the seasoning was over-sweet and took away from the natural goodness of the meat. The chef needs to trust in the taste of the meat itself and not over-do the seasoning, and then concentrate on improving the quality of the sides. read more

A friend of mine from Steamboat took me out to the Antlers last summer. The food was excellent and the array of uncommon but great beers were on hand. i first started going there with my parents,and i always remember the great food/service that we always received. i especially remember mike benedick,and he always made you feel right at home,with his jokes and sense of humor. i am so glad to see the antler's open back up,as that is a great restaurant to stop at.i know that the new owner/chef tom wester will make it work.there is alot of history in the antler's,so if you are on vacation or just passin through,the town,make sure that you stop at the "antler's bar&cafe",for a great home-cooked meal and fresh drinks.you will not be sorry that you did,guarantee it. read more
