The Antoya Galbi is divine. The quality of meat is incredible, the meat is so tender and melt-in-your-mouth. The marination is perfect, giving the rich beef a sweet and savoury touch. The Gyeran Jjim was wonderful, with a fluffy egg texture and creamy runny egg on top and good spices. The banchan were some of the most delicious and unique I have had in a Korean restaurant. The pumpkin, tofu, sardines, and potato had a delightful and imaginative taste, and it is clear even the banchan are elevated. read more

Personally, I think the quality/taste of everything (especially the meats) versus the price you're paying isn't up to standard. I really expected the meat to be more savory and juicy, but it was average at best. We paid ~$40-55 for each plate of meat and ~$30 for two appetizers of dumplings. This place is at the heart of Korean town with multiple floors. We came for a friends birthday and made reservation ahead of time, but because half of the group was late so they gave up our table to someone else which is our fault, but they were trying their best to accommodate our group, even we added 3 more people in the end the manager was very helpful to help us to find new table that can fit our needs. There were some drama with the bar tender at the beginning he came over to make a weird comment about the tip, but the tip was already included in their bill and he didn't realize, but the manager came over to apologize. Our server was great, help us to cook all the grill and make sure we are all taken care of. The menu is not big, the grill meat only has beef and pork, if you have dietary restrictions like our group please make sure to check the menu. It was lunchtime and my husband and I were walking on 32 St looking for a Korean restaurant to try. Antoya's menu looked good so in we went. The restaurant was very cozy;large roomy booths with soft lighting. We each ordered a main dish - my husband ordered bulgogi w/beef and I order the spicy bone broth with dumplings- both dishes were excellent-perfectly spiced and served nicely heated but not too hot. The service was wonderful and the staff repeatly asked if we wanted refills of the bonchon dishes. . The bonchon dishes were a nice variety of tastes and textures - each dish was better than the other. We came about half an hour early and wasn't able to be seated. We were seated right at 8pm, though. I completely understand why because they get super busy. The two bartenders in the front were friendly. We had a beer or two while waiting. The hostess were super friendly . Well organized as a team. FOOD - their banchan were pretty good. We learned from experience not to over order so we got only two cuts of meat. We got the galbi and pork belly. The banchan can be so fulfilling along with your meats and rice. The galbi was really flavorful . Our waiter, super nice and helpful even though he had to manage 4-5 tables. Their was also another waitress that helped him and she was also helpful and nice. First time coming here and ordered their non kbbq menu which I thought was phenomenal. The banchans were great and they refill them for you. That egg soufflé is a must get! We topped it with cheese which was an excellent choice with rice. The oxtail soup tastes like comfort in a bowl. They give you a side of salt to season on your own. The short ribs were so, so good. It's quite pricy but if you can come during their lunch special, it's not bad. I ordered their house special galbi and they have the best quality ban Chan of all the places I've gone. The restaurant is clean, not so quiet because of neighbor clients, but we were able to enjoy a bit of privacy by sitting in the inner corner. The only thing to look out for thought, is the price. I'm kind of on a secret mission to eat through the entire Michelin guide year after year in NYC if my wallet can afford it, and Antoya KBBQ has been on the list for forever so I was excited to try it out. I was surprised when I came on a weekend lunch there was essentially no line. I feel like most places in K-Town are full of people so its nice to be able to walk into a place without a reservation. - Complimentary Banchans - They have so many different banchans that I've never had here, which I super appreciate. My favorite ones were definitely the dried seaweed which was extremely flavorful, I loved the sesame flavors. I also really liked the sweet potato as I feel like they usually make it with regular potatoes but the sweet potato really made it a good mix. I also really liked the tofu/egg with spinach mixture. Lots of food ideas to make at home. - Galbi Tang - My favorite Korean food of all time is Galbi Tang and they make it pretty damn good here. There's so much tender meat in the soup which I appreciate. I also really appreciated the soup although I wish it was a bit more salty. Would definitely order this as it is a good starter before all the heavier KBBQ, although I'm not sure if its the best I have ever had. - Samgyeopsal - Justifying paying $40+ for pork belly is a bit of a stretch to me but honestly it was very good. At first the portion sizes seem quite small but if you wrap up each little piece up in lettuce, kimchi, and salt, you will have a good time as the flavors of the pork are bursting. Also the fat isn't too heavy which I appreciate. I would suggest you letting the waiter cook it for you as they are already experts at this and will make KBBQ better than you ever will, no offense. I think my one complaint is that its honestly a bit expensive but with all the banchans that are refillable, I can't really say anything. Solid KBBQ place that I will come back to! read more

Had enjoyed Samwon previously so I was curious about the new incarnation. A rice bowl, a stew, a few egg soufflés, 1 pork combo and 1 beef combo, and a round of complimentary drinks. Food was fine but portions were average, but for the price I would expect more, one way or another. Meat platters at other spots usually include stews, and the eggs are usually included as well. I made a reservation because I knew it would be busy during lunch hours. We arrived and waited for 5mins before being seated. Looking at the menu, we decided to not get bbq meats and rather try their other dishes. We ordered the Antoya pajeon, dolsot bibimbap with bulgogi, and galbi tang from the lunch menu. While waiting for the food, I looked around the restaurant to see its decor which was simple and clean. I also saw other tables order bbq meats and were enjoying it and the smell was aromatic. Went to Samwon Garden with my mom and we ordered their Saewoojang Dup Bap with uni and Budae Jigae. We did not make a reservation but it was pretty easy to get a table in the early afternoon. I enjoyed the Dup Bap, which is basically bibimbap but with raw fish in it. It is definitely one of my preferred types of bibimbap because of how healthy it is. Saewoojang refers to soy sauce marinated raw shrimps. By itself it often tastes a bit sweet, salty and creamy. If you like uni, I would definitely add it to the dup bap. It adds a bit more creaminess that wraps the entire dish together, on top of the raw egg. Feel like the Budaejigae, which is also known as Army stew, was pretty solid. It definitely isn't a very photogenic dish though Oh and we were given an extra dish that had cheese and fried eggs. "Cheese with anything and everything" was definitely trending in Korea a while back. It was a bit bland but I can not really complain about free food. I really liked how Samwon Garden has set up their indoor and outdoor dining space. Aesthetically, it is quite cute. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to come here in a while since I am originally from LA, but Samwon Garden is definitely one of my go to spots for Korean food. This restaurant managed to catch my attention with its bold, flowery entrance (almost a hallmark in the street of Koreatown?), but I have mixed feelings about our dining experience. I assume it was quality meats, and that it would come with lots of choice apps and sides. Well, the assorted meats turned out to be just 3 varieties...and not that much of it. However, it was beautifully presented...complete with icy smoke? The big disappointment was the lack of complimentary appetizers. This $92 meal for 2 didn't offer any complimentary apps, like Egg Souffle, Kimchi Stew, Nothing! WOW. Guess I should have purchased the additional apps a la carte, but it was getting so late, we decided to skip it. It did come with 5 side dishes...but the portions were quite skimpy. At least the sides were delicious. However, I didn't like the flavor of the 3 meat sauces. There were definitely aspects of this restaurant that were point on...like great service (Free Sangria, of all things!). Also, cool presentation of their meats...and I especially loved their Galbi, however small the portion. Also, again, the place was poorly air conditioned...and I couldn't wait to get out and go back to the hotel. Overall, I was underwhelmed...especially given the lofty pricing. As much as I like quality meats, I anticipate the bountiful sides and appetizers that normally come with the meats. Without the latter, the meal felt incomplete to me. Really loved the mandu and the japchae portion was good for an entree, even though it was in the appetizer menu. I was disappointed there weren't any banchan. Did a quick pivot and made a reservation here after we discovered our old standby, New Wonjo, was not handicapped accessible. The staff could not be nicer. Everyone in my party really appreciated the country music that played exclusively from when we arrived until when we left. Adds a bit of surreality to the proceedings, in the best possible way. Excellent service and a far more sedate experience than Wonjo. The food is uniformly good, but portions are smaller and prices a bit higher. We enjoyed our beef sampler, scallion pancakes with beef, egg custard with spicy cod roe (although the roe wasn't particularly spicy), delicious fried dumplings, and crazy good fried chicken wings. The bibimbap was just ok - not sure if they had the hot stone version, but I should have asked for it.
