Pretty decent AYCE lunch for $40. I like that is also available all week from 12-4pm. The menu is on an iPad but you have to order with the server. I think the options are a bit limited, there could definitely be more vegetable options. The meats were pretty decent quality and overall pretty good. I'll say it felt more like a fusion of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese flavors. We tried pretty much all of the meat options and I enjoyed the brisket the most. There's also some options for appetizers but we only tried the corn cheese and the cucumber salad. When the cucumber salad came, I was beyond shocked at the sheer size of it. It was huge. 80% peanuts and 20% cucumbers. It tasted delicious but the sheer size scared us from ordering any other appetizers afterwards. The AYCE also includes certain soft drinks and ice cream. Service was a bit slow, it was hard to get someone's attention sometimes. I do like the overall ambiance and the decor of the restaurant. read more

My friends and I were looking for an all you can eat KBBQ place, and came across this restaurant. We reserved online for dinner time and selected it was for AYCE. Once we entered the restaurant and sat down for the reservation, we find out that AYCE is for lunch only. It also says lunch time in the menu section of their website. That may have been our mistake but I feel like the reservation system should not have that option since we chose this restaurant for the all you can eat option. Once we were already there, our group of 4 would have been charged $15 per person to cancel the reservation, so we stayed We ordered several items and planned for it to come close to the AYCE price we were expecting which is fine. We ordered Kimchi fried rice, the name itself made it seem like it was just kimchi flavored or mixed rice. It was a surprise when it came and had beef or bulgogi on top of it. Someone in our group we were sharing with can't eat beef. Since it was already made, we couldn't adjust it and just ordered an additional kimchi fried rice and they accommodated it by putting more cheese The rest of the items were for the BBQ. It was a mix of chicken items. They tasted fine but nothing that really stood out to me. Nothing tasted good enough where I needed to request another serving for. We were also coming from an event earlier that day and had bags from that. There was not really any space to put the bags. I think people should come here expecting that it should be the main event of the night and not bring much else with them. The booths are just for people, it is a little tight in the restaurant and you have stove underneath the table. This also means not a lot of leg room if you are a taller person. Overall, I just did not enjoy my time here. There was a lot of miscommunication. 3.5 stars There's a lot of kbbq places in the ktown area and I thought I'd stop by and try this out! This place is cheaper than many of the others so I was excited for a new potential go-to spot. We got the meat staircase for 2-3 people (we had two of us) and we were absolutely stuffed. We had to take leftovers home since we couldn't finish it. I loved that there were so many different types of meat for us to try, but they didn't label anything so we had to blindly guess and try each of them. The meat quality was also just okay, I wasn't really wowed by anything. I could tell that the quality of the meat reflected the price so I was a bit disappointed given the presentation, ratings, and ambiance of the restaurant. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I am so glad I did! We had a reservation here for a random Thursday night at around 6pm and were seated immediately upon arriving. To be fair though, I'm not sure if the reservation was needed since at around 6pm there were plenty of tables open. It did get crowded around the 7pm mark though! We asked for bags so that we could place our jackets and belongings into - from our vast experience, at hotpot or kbbq joints, it is known that your clothes and belongings will have the lingering scent of food well after you leave. We were quite disappointed that they didn't acknowledge our request- it is unclear if they have or not but it'd be a good idea to bring your own protective bag next time. Don't get me wrong, the food smelled absolutely amazing- we just didn't want to smell like kbbq while we were strolling around afterwards! Besides that, the service was great! The waiter was friendly and smiled and constantly came to refill our water when needed. Food came out promptly and they checked in to make sure we had everything we needed including refills of lettuce (for wrapping the kbbq meat), kimchi and radish wraps. FYI though, unlike other kbbq joints, they don't grill anything for you or tell you times in which to grill the meats. It's more of a you grill what you eat to your liking kind of setting. We also loved that they changed our grill once the first one got all burnt from the marinated meats. The food itself was also great! The quality of the meats are absolutely amazing here for the price you pay. We ordered the Kindom Steak Combo, The Vegetable Platter, the Korean Seafood pancake, the spicy Cucumber Smash, and the creamy Baked Cheese Corn. They kbbq also came with 2 condiment sauces for the meats- a yuzu based one and a "spicy" red one which wasn't actually spicy but tasted good. The Kindom Steak combo does come with plenty of vegetables to grill, hidden under the cuts of meat and decorative greens. Almost as much as the order of Vegetable platter itself. All were appropriately sliced and were quick to grill and enjoy. The Korean Seafood was generous on portion. It came with a delicious soy sauce based dip, making it much better- more flavorful! It also was topped with lots of bonito flakes. The spicy cucumber smash was refreshing but be warned it does come with a slight kick... this coming from one who loves spice. For my friends that couldn't handle spice and tried it, they needed plenty of water and other food to neutralize their taste buds. I did love that it was very cooling and came with plenty of sauce and peanuts for extra crunch. And lastly, the creamy cheese corn left a lot to be desired. This, honestly, was the only disappointing item we ordered. We heated up the tinfoil bowl of creamy cheese corn on the grill until we could get that cheese pull satisfaction from eating it. After serving, it didn't take long for it to cool down and was back to being a glob of cheese corn, mostly cheese. It was also pretty greasy! This was the only item we sadly did not finish. Would not recommend this one item. But everything else we ordered was great! To end our meal, the waiters also brought us each a bowl of oolong tea pudding. They were very silky smooth and had a lot of oolong tea flavor. Also very cooling/refreshing and tasted delicious. After trying GanHoo BBQ for dinner, I am curious to see what the AYCE lunch offers and how it compares to our dinner that we had. Came here on a Saturday night with my party of 7 people. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a staff member and were seated right away upon telling him my name under the reservation. It was busy so I would recommend making a reservation on the weekends. We were seated in a booth, which technically will only fit 6 people comfortably but since we have 2 kids in our party, we made it work. They don't have any big tables (at least on the section where we sat and I'm not sure if they have another side of with more tables) so I don't recommend going with more than 6 people. We ordered their seafood pancake, creamy baked cheese corn, rice cakes, and cheese kimchi ramen to start. Their seafood pancake looked funny as they put bonito flakes on top which is the first time I've seen it ever. The pancake itself had a lot of seafood, but there's very minimal scallions in it and it was like paper thin. The sauce that came with it seemed off as well and looked like there's a lot of cilantro in it so I didn't even try it at all. Definitely not authentic and would not recommend it. The creamy cheese corn looked sad. $6.95 for a very small portion of corn and mostly cheese. The cheese cooled down quickly and it was very hard to scoop it out. The rice cakes were ok as it was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It wasn't bad but nothing memorable either and definitely not worth $11.95 for only 6 of them. The description said it's supposed to be drizzled with brown sugar syrup and sprinkled with roasted soybean powder. But I tasted nothing like that as they only managed to drizzle the syrup on the top 3 rice cakes and there were nothing at the bottom. The cheese kimchi ramen is something you can make yourself at home so save yourself $16.95. I wasn't a fan of their kimchi as the flavor was just spicy but lacks depth. Another thing to note is their banchan was also very underwhelming. We were presented with a very small portion of kimchi, lettuce and carrot salad, some kind of sliced beef (which I didn't try because it didn't look appetizing, and same Saam mu (which sliced picked radish). Their kimchi was so chopped up that it looked like it's the leftover scapes. I normally like to grill kimchi to wrap with my meat but it was so chopped up that it's hard to grill it without it falling through the grill rack. For bbq, we ordered their kingdom steak combo, an additional rib eye, thick cut pork belly, pork jowl, and some veggies including king mushrooms, corn and asparagus. The combo was listed as a 2-3 people portion but I was surprised with the generous portion size. The meat quality was good given the price point. We all also enjoyed the pork belly as it had a good fat/meat ratio. The only thing is they didn't have any aged kimchi to go with the pork which is how I normally like to eat my pork. I also wished they told us all the meat dishes come with king mushrooms so we didn't have to order a separate plate of king mushrooms. All the veggies were fresh and portion size was very generous. Another thing is unlike most Korean bbq restaurants, they do not grill for you but this didn't bother us as we like to grill ourselves anyway. They also do not include rice so you would need to order them separately. Their service was generally good and they were very attentive at refilling out water. But they completely forgot when I asked to have more kimchi. I also read other reviews after one meal that they were given oolong pudding as desserts but we were not offered any at all which was a little disappointing. However, I noticed they do have great ventilation system as I did not walk out smelling like a piece of grilled meat so that's a plus. Overall, this is not your typical, authentic Korean restaurant. Their menu is limited and I was disappointed that they do not have naengmyeon as most people eat it after the bbq to cleanse your palate. The best part is their bbq and if I were to return again, I would just stick with their meat and skip everything else. read more

We came here as a group of 4 for the $40 AYCE lunch special on a Sunday, and I think it was good value and quality for the price. The flatiron was surprisingly good and probably my favorite. I also enjoyed the various briskets they had. I'm normally not a pork belly person, but their pork belly was not super fatty, which was nice. They provide lard for you to oil the grill, and everything is to be cooked yourself, which makes sense for AYCE. They also have a different grill plate for some of the fattier meats like the beef toro, so if you find that your grill is smoking up too much, you can ask them to change the grill plate. Some of the sides were also very good - the radish was delicious and the chicken nuggets were a surprising standout. I didn't like how they slowly they brought out our orders, and there is no iPad to order, so you have to tell the waiters what you want. Definitely better to come when it's less busy - we came right at 12pm and there were only like 3 tables, so the service was quite good. Really appreciated them having a good amount of vegetables to choose from like oyster mushrooms, other types of mushrooms, cucumber salad, kimchi, lettuce wraps, white rice, mixed flavored rice, and soup. We even heard staff asking other tables if they wanted their grills changed so I think your visit depends on who you get for your table. For our table, after we received our food, no one came to check on us and we had to wave people down multiple times to request for things. Came here hoping to provide my friend with his first authentic Korean BBQ experience. Came away with my friend still seeking his first authentic Korean BBQ experience. In fairness, I should have done more homework before coming here. I took a quick look at pics and the website (for the NYC location) and assumed it was Korean BBQ. Yelp did not help at all in that it tagged this place as "Korean". The restaurant is also located in the K-Town vicinity, so I feel like perhaps the restaurant is trying to mask as a Korean BBQ place? The interior is pretty clean and nice so it was a good start but the night quickly got off to the wrong start when every question I asked the waiter was "I don't know." or "I'm not sure." After I got a little frustrated, the waiter told me it was his first time working at a restaurant. Wonderful. I had to ask him to bring someone else over to help. But after hearing some answers to my questions about the menu, I realized it wasn't a Korean place. The meat quality is above average (3.5/5), but I had no idea we would have to cook all the meat ourselves, so that was pretty annoying. The grill seemed like it was good quality, but the meats burned pretty easily. Bonus: The first time waiter also told me to rub butter around the grill, but it was lard and def not butter, but no harm, no foul. The prices seemed fair until I realized that it didn't come with any sides, rice and you had to cook the meat yourself. The sauces that they provided did not accompany the meats well at all. I had to ask for a side of salt and the salt they provided was basic salt. Honestly, I'm not sure why anyone would come here over the other Korean BBQ spots nearby. You're getting the KBBQ without the K. The service was pretty non-existant. Everyone working there seemed very new to hospitality in general. The icing on the cake was when I asked for the check, the waitress came by with the check and a mobile credit card reader. She showed me the check and then when I was about to tap my credit card, I noticed the amount on the reader was $15 higher. When I asked her about it, she was very flustered and corrected it. Not sure if it was intentional, but either way, didn't help the experience. They have a lot of work to do if they want to survive in NYC. Food: ran out of all side dishes, what kind of Korean restaurant runs out of kimchi and radishes--they opened 1 hour before our reservation--so we never got any. This meant the only vegetables they had were mushrooms and lettuce. Dried out rice. Watered down, flavorless tofu stew. Meat was fine quality, but wait for my next point. Service: took at least 7 minutes for anyone to come to our table to take an initial order. It took forever to deliver plates of raw meat to the table. And finding a server to order more, non-existent. I had to get up and look for someone twice. Then they delivered the wrong dishes three times. Then they charged us for things we never ordered.
