    A5 Wagyu

Dinner for three on a Tuesday night December 2025. We had the premium wagyu kalbi, assorted horumon, atsugiri tongue, oxtail soup, assorted kimchi, beef fried rice, bibim men, and kyuri. The bbq items were excellent; the ox tail soup was disappointingly bland, bibim men was chewy and refreshing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Attentive service; well-spaced seating with warm, low lighting, minimalist Japanese decor was perfect for conversation/catching up without having to raise our voices[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very impressed by the ventilation above the grill- no smell at all on our coats/clothes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came for a birthday dinner, and happened to see two other tables celebrating birthdays as well... so maybe it was coincidence, or maybe this is actually a popular choice for special occasions! Either way, this was a great dinner for groups. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice low-lit ambiance, spacious seating, attentive staff, and delicious food - the yakiniku meats are clearly premium and high quality.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I appreciate that the entire table isn't required to order a set menu, so everyone can freely choose if they want to go for a course set or not. I tried the Standard Course and thought that it had a good variety of meats with just the right amount of food. I also tried the oxtail rice soup, which seemed simple at first but was super cozy and comforting. My friend enjoyed their beef fried rice. Great dining experience overall. We had a few minor allergies at the table and the staff members were very accommodating.

Came for lunch and got the box with meat cooked in the kitchen and the grill meats that the server did an excellent job preparing. Yummy!

As a huge BBQ meat lover, I was super excited to this spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is so spacious and modern yet romantic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The servers were all super attentive to our needs, making good small talk and suggestions, even offering gum at the front door upon leaving. Wonderful date night experience. The meats were perfectly marinated and grilled to the point where they all tasted amazing and expensive especially the beef tongue and wagyu. The star of the show: the soybean pudding!! It was beyond immaculate and wound literally come here again on the daily for the pudding only. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect date night spot if you're willing to spoil yourself/your significant other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    The Premium Wagyu Course

This Tokyo-based Japanese Yakiniku in the heart of Manhattan's Chinatown is a must-try! We indulged in their exceptional premium wagyu course. Omg...it's an experience of the melt-in-your-mouth! While their grill selections steal the spotlight, don't overlook the rest of their delicious menu! From mouth watering appetizers, delightful fresh salads, enticing selection of sushi and sashimi, along with an array of rice and noodle dishes that cater to every taste. Service was top notch! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The whole dining experience was perfectly complemented by an ambiance that exudes luxury and elegance![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Nice gem in Chinatown. We made 5:30pm reservations for 2 and was seated immediately. Servers were super attentive, kept refilling our tea the moment it was near empty. Food - the meat cooked to perfection and the wagyu sushi melts in your mouth. Tried the standard menu and ordered the special menu for my mom. Both were excellent in their own ways. Service - 100% [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance - romantic, quiet and tables were spaced out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] would definitely come back again.

We had the premium Wagyu course, the quality and quantity of Wagyu was delicious! (Not the cheapest option but well worth it!) Didn't need the cold noodles or eel rice. Just wanted plain white rice to go with my wagyu! Service was fantastic, chef went out of the way to prep a non-dairy dessert for me!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I went there with my mother and sister bc we couldn't decide where to go so we just walked in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guy at the door welcomed us loudly, and then another waiter tried to seat us right by the bathroom, even though there were plenty of tables available. I asked why we couldn't sit at the booth, he paused, then reluctantly said okay. Once seated, we had no water, no menus, nothing. After a few minutes, I had to flag down the waiter just to get a menu dropped in front of me. I was a first timer and asked for guidance on what to order. The waiter just read the menu to me instead of giving recommendations, if I wanted that, I could have read it myself. Even after ordering, we had to ask for water again. The food finally came, we ordered three sets (two expensive set, one lunch set), thinking it would be enough for three. Wrong. Portions were tiny. The beef was paper-thin, so I ended up filling myself mostly with rice. The waiter was unattentive and unhelpful throughout. If you hate your job, please don't work in a restaurant. I definitely won't be going back, and I paid over $300 and still left hungry.

Came here to try. And was surprised. The quality of the meat is very good. The combo is a good way to go if it's your first time here. The flavors and the quality plus the service is great. Came back here twice already. Will be back to try their lunch special. Nice to find a quality bbq place so close to Chinatown area. Highly recommend!

I walk past this place all the time and finally decided to pick up lunch from here. I ordered the beef rice bowl (I forgot the name on the menu but it's #1 on their lunch special) for $20 +tax. I can tell the meal was cooked with care and the ingredients were fresh, but the beef was a little too sweet for my taste. It was similar to bulgogi but maybe a tad sweeter. The kimchi tasted different than what you would normally get at a Korean restaurant. I couldn't put my finger on what the flavor was. I found this to be only okay (normally I would gobble up all of the kimchi). The going rate nowadays for a lunch salad or sandwich is $15-$18 so the value is there in this dish if you're hungry at lunch time. I gave it 4 stars because even though the food didn't fit my palate, I can't say it was bad. I would come back and try another dish.

They are fairly strict with their dining time period as it is busy. Be sure to book a reservation. Their menu is fairly large with plenty of appetizers as well as hot and cold udon options (note: this is a udon spot, not ramen). I got their kanimaze (cold) and their tantan (hot) and both were delicious. The kanimaze was refreshing and full of flavor. And the tantan was rich, comforting, and warm. Their shrimp tempura and agedashi were also great. Lightly fried and not too greasy. Would love to come back to try their other options.

It was a pleasant surprise to see that they expanded into the adjacent storefront. Now there's 4-5 booths and a bar table. The annex matches the interior design of their Soho and Midtown location and feels clean and spacious. Service was a bit slow from the hostess to the server. We ordered: small chicken tatsuta-age, niku udon, kamonan udon, assorted mushroom udon, green tea tiramisu, souffle fruit roll, soba pudding. Appreciate how big the chunks of meat are used for fried chicken. The exterior was a bit overfried but the interior stayed Broth and udon aligns with their Soho location which makes me more willing to come to this location moving forward. The assorted mushroom is seasonal. It's a nice lighter cleaner option but at the same time the mushrooms don't add much flavor. Kamonan is the duck which I chose because duck is a less common meat option around. I felt that the duck was a bit tough and bland yet also added too much oil into the clean broth (relatively to me). Niku is an OG but I haven't had it in a while. This time I was surprised how the marinate is light resulting in stronger meat flavor. I wish it would be more tender but it's alright. Desserts were more disappointing to me. I used to go to Patisserie Fouet frequently before they shut down the Union Square location. Green tea tiramisu had strong matcha soaks but I found the overall dessert to be a bit bland. The soaked sponge was a bit too wet too. Souffle fruit roll was huge, better to share with others especially after already eating savory food beforehand. I think it's intentional for the cake to be so dense. It came out really smooth but way too dense to feel like a dessert. I think I would eat this as breakfast instead. The raspberry sauce's tartness and punchiness is much needed otherwise I don't know if I can finish it. Soba pudding is my usual favorite and it stands up to the test of time. Still super smooth and with wheaty depth.

But at last, as I searched on DoorDash I stumbled upon this glorious restaurant they call Izakaya Fuku. I was drawn to the adorable names for their sushi roll dishes like "Strawberry Fields" and their Italian Japanese fusion pasta dishes, "Creamy Mentaiko Bacon Pasta" with creamy mayonnaise, spicy cod roe and bacon like are you kidding me? It's a bummer I wasn't more hunger or that I didn't have more bucks in my wallet because I wanted all these dishes. And the Chirashi Don, god it looks so beautiful the way that it's arranged in the photos online. I finally decided on the carbonara. And I was drawn to the fact that it was udon based. Now, I've just been living in hawaii these past years so that Japanese twist on an Italian dish that I just love oh so much really brought me back to missing the islands and the Asian spins they had on cuisines. Now my food may have not come in a jiffy but for after midnight cravings I'd say it was well worth the wait. And my oh my the portion was huge!!!! I slurped that big boy up. It was SOOO delicious and savory. I love comfort food and this had me in carbonara heaven. I loved indulging into every single last bite. By the looks of the picture the restaurant looks lovely, I'd love to stop there and try it in person. Thank you. Thank you! My belly and my heart are very much satisfied.
