I randomly ran into this restaurant while waiting for an appointment I had on the same block. So i decided to stop in for a quick bite and to warm up. The ladies were very welcoming and I was sat immediately. For my drink i had a horchata. So flavorful nice and rich. As for lunch, i had the pork tamales, a al pastor taco and a steak taco. All were so delicious and filling. My favorite was the steak and I will come back again for sure the next time I am in the area. read more

A small taco joint in Washington Heights. Delivery was quick (arrived within 36 mins), food was good, and a great value! I ordered 2 super tacos (steak, spicy pork), an order of shrimp tacos (3 in an order), and a cheese empanada for $20 (free delivery). Recommend asking for extra green sauce. I was worried the tacos wraps would be soggy by the time it arrived but the tacos stayed relatively intact while eating. The tacos were filling. I was full after having 2. This unassuming restaurant in Washington Heights definitely deserves the high ratings that it has! The restaurant is very small, but the hostess/waiter is very sweet and comforting. She primarily speaks Spanish, but her English is also good, so don't worry about ordering if you are not a Spanish-speaker. They have seating available inside (about 6-8 tables and a few high-chair window seats), but I also saw them pumping out a ton of to-go orders, which will be good if we encounter another lockdown. The food, in one word, was incredible! They are very generously priced with portions that were larger than I was expecting. The guacamole is so fresh and light! The horchata is very refreshing as well. We got three tacos (one al pastor, one carnitas, and one chorizo), which were all fantastic, as well as La Torta and quesadilla de harina. This is my favorite taco spot in the neighborhood. I'm partial to the shrimp tacos or I've asked them to make nopales tacos for me before which are also great. The shrimp fajitas are also excellent, and the guac is a delicious appetizer. The place used to be very small and only have a counter that you ordered from, but a couple years ago they expanded and now have several tables for seating indoors. When the weather is nice they have often had a table out front as well. Prices are reasonable, abs the food is delicious. read more

For some reason it's hard to find Mexican restaurants in Manhattan that serve red beans instead of black and also have Chile Rellenos (one of my fave dishes) on the menu. This olace has both! The Chile Rellenos came with a big plate of rice and beans and side of warm corn tortillas-all for only 13$! Also they have a small size guacamole which is nice when you're eating alone as I was. I also got a horchata. Everything was really good very authentic. Don't go here for atmosphere or margaritas as it's a small utilitarian space and no bar. Fresh, fast, and authentic is how i like my tacos. If you want affordable, good size (not palm size) tortillas, with full all around good quantity of ingredients this place should be your "go to". Does Four Chicken tacos with a can soda and a jaritos juice for $15 sounds like a good deal to you??? Cause it sure does sound like a fantastic one to me! Well ok, yeah the place is tiny. Probably fit up to five people max. Five people "average" size not "fat or obese". No restroom, a small area to sit, eat and leave! Im sure the food makes up for everything this place is lacking. Best Mexican food in the heights. Hands down. They have Great in house service and nice decorations if you want to take some friends. And they're always quick with home delivery too. The owner is super awesome. The beef nachos and beef tacos are the bomb. My personal favorite. The horchata is delicious and the al pastor taco is also a nice treat and so well seasoned. My husband and I eat from here 1-2x a week. We also tried the chicken gordita recently and it was spectacular!!!! We've tried other Mexican places in the heights and none of them have this amount of flavor in their food and tortillas . Smol lil local taco joint. I came here with a friend on a cold February day and we both ordered quesadillas. The quesadillas come with lettuce, onion/cilantro, and guac, and have this white sauce and dusted cheese on top. It was incredibly tasty for $7! I said I was going to bring some home, but I ended up eating the entire thing. You can pick the meat that comes inside of it, and I chose carnitas. It's crispy and fried, 10x better than what you get at those chain places like Chipotle. The people who work there are super nice! The place is REALLY tiny, holds maybe about 7 people? My only complaint is that it was freezing outside and the restaurant door does not shut all the way so it was extremely cold. read more

This place is damn good. Found it last night after I did some shopping at the Goodwill opposite it. Reasonable prices, fresh ingredients that are well-seasoned and marinated. One bite and it's like 6 different flavours exploding in your mouth. Would recommend the $7 torta with spicy marinated pork and avocado - I was full after only eating half of this and a taco - so the rest will be a yummy lunch for the next day. A little hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint with pretty solid tacos. The tacos are quite good and packed with flavor. Each are about $3 so you can order about three or four and taste each.
