The heights always has hidden gems and they never disappoint. If you're in a taco mood for authentic Mexican food this is a pleasant surprise to try. You walk in and are greeted by staff warmly and amazing decorations, statues, paintings and great music. It's a decent cozy spot but what they lack in space they make up in flavors! The bathrooms were nice and cleaned smelled nice. If your planning on drinking do not drive here lol take an uber or the train the drinks don't lack or disappoint they are very delicious and strong it sneaks up on you and I am not a light weight. We got the passionfruit Mojitos and mango Margaritas we made it to 3 each lol . We Definitely you order the Picadera it's like an appetizer sampler it comes with cheese quesadillas, fries, jalapeños, Dominican grill cheese, smoke pork chops, beef stake, chicken wings, Mexican sausage, tequilas fritas, guacamole, and shrimp but I'm allergic to sea food so we asked for no shrimp. It was all made well and very appetizing delectable, flavorful, luscious savory and spicy only on the jalapeño but to summarize it was deliciously yummy. I honestly got full with that and it's a good amount for 2 people to split. But we had already placed our main dish orders lol so we had to try it. We got greedy lol and my husband wanted to try the ceviche he said it was good lots of flavors but they need to give you more tortillas to balance the ratio of ceviche to tortillas. I couldn't try it again due to allergies. But I'll take his word for it. I got birria burrito style with consommé it was delicious as well but the consommé was a bit to water down for me otherwise an amazing experience. I had read good reviews of Taco Inn on neighborhood groups, but had never been enticed enough to pass by. In fact, I did not intend to go there today (was going to visit another Mexican spot which happened to be closed). All in all I would probably rate this a solid 3.5, but am bumping up to 4 because the drinks (tamarindo margarita) were good, and my shrimp quesadilla was filled with shrimp! I do feel that the quesadilla could have used some more seasoning. My friend didn't fully enjoy her gordita. Bites of chicharrón were too small and the dough lacked flavor. We would go back for drinks but maybe skip on the food or order tacos instead. Complimentary chips were crispy. Salsa was different- I liked it but my friend was not a fan. Place looks a bit dark from the outside but it's a huge spot with plenty of seating and good number of Mexican patrons and staff, which is always a good sign. read more

I've been eating here ever since I stumbled upon it two years ago. Taco Inn has never let me down. This is my moms favorite spot, they have the best horchata juice and it's the only place you can order delivery and your food won't get soggy. My favorites are the flautas and the guac here. Everything is fresh and the staff is super cool and fun. The place is spacious, clean and well decorated. They have Karaoke some week nights and for a night out with friends it's also fun. 100% recommend. Just like most restaurants anywhere, the food cannot stay consistently good. Last time I had Taco Inn, the food was disgusting... I mean DISGUSTING! I ordered a carnitas quesadilla; the meat was nothing but fat pieces. I was spitting out every bite into a napkin since I could not even chew on the "meat." I also ordered breaded chicken cutlets. The chicken was black and freezing; it smelled horrible. How do you serve freezing cold chicken cutlets on top of hot microwaved bland rice. You could just tell it was old chicken grabbed out of a refrigerator and thrown into my order.  I called immediately to complain, and spoke to Anna. She said she would refund me or send me another replacement order. I did not take the offer, and just threw out all the food. I would never order from this place ever again. Not only they messed up our order, they sent us possibly expired food. Their operation is extremely slopy and possibly not sanitary. My fiance and I made a pick up order here. I arrived 20 mins later and my food was ready to be picked up on their table. But all the servers were just busy taking new orders on the phone and made at least 4 groups of people and their food waiting in line. After about 10 mins, I reached out to the server directly and made them package my food before they become completely cold. The server seemed like she was rushing packaging my order. Putting things in and out of the bags constantly like she doesn't know what she is doing. So I asked straight to her face, "did you put tortillas in there?" She looked and me and said "yes." I arrived home with our food and surprise, not only there were no tortillas, they completely forgot to put our dessert which we already paid for. So my fiance called again. They made us pick up flan and tortillas in person, so I went. We even ordered additional dessert on top of it. I came back home the second time with my orders. My fiance took her first bite of the flan and she immediately spits it out and head to the bathroom. She said her flan didn't taste right at all. I smelled it and it smelled like some sort of tap water and heavy scent of refrigerator was coming from the flan itself. This flan smelled like it has been sitting in the refrigerator for weeks, possibly months. Doesn't have any individual expiration date marked on it to verify if it's safe to eat. And of course, no tortillas were included again. I am extremely disappointed. It seems like they just don't care at all. They constantly messed up our orders and even gave us questionable food that made my fiance throw up. This is possibly one of the worst dining experiences in this year. This is my second time ordering and I am in LOVE! The tacos are sooooo good! It says on their menu that the tortillas are handmade and you can definitely taste the difference. I usually order their food on Uber Eats and the have followed the order notes every time, so I love that too! Definitely would recommend ordering from the super good! Would not eat here again that's for sure. My wife and I came here last night and ordered steak nachos and a steak burrito which tasted like it was made with ground beef . It took 1 hour and 10 minutes just to get our order! Our waitress took so long that 40 minutes in, she finally passed by and asked if we wanted the check? We didn't even get our food yet! She laughed it off as we waited another 30 mins. Our fault for even waiting past 20 mins in the first place. We regret not leaving earlier. I ate here and it's cute. Social distancing is on full effect. Beers are really cold and they give them to u in these cute frosted cups or whateverrrr. Tacos are good! I worked in the hospitality business for years, there are people that appreciate what the establishment offers and there are those that feel the need to make sure no one ever thinks of stepping foot into your establishment ever again. My partner and I have been very spoiled in our prior home in California with a plethora of great, inexpensive Mexican food, and that is nearly impossible to find in Manhattan. HARD. Go! You finished? Good! Now repent! For Taco Inn is here to pardon the transgressions of NY's often maligned taco scene. For starters, their hand made tortillas are the right thickness. Perfect! Strong enough to hold a good amount of meat but thin enough to not take away from the flavor of everything you eat. I went with some classics: Bisket, Pastor, Pollo and Carne Enchilada. Half regular, half estilo Americano. Fantastic either way. Their sauces are also fantastic. Just enough heat to get the sinuses echoing but without taking away from the flavor. Price is perfect. Service is great. There is only one single drawback which is in no way the fault of the restaurant. They are close to a nail salon so that chemical smell from polish and the like may be off putting when you first enter. Brave it and treat yourself to amazing tacos. Don't recommend this place at all. Went in to take my grandparents to eat near their neighborhood. The wait for the food was extremely long! All together it was a group of 10 and went with an open mind for the wait time but they took more than 1hr and a half. They might remember my family and I referencing watching a full soccer game there and not being served. About the 2hr mark we received our food and a one of waitresses accidentally dropped some fries on my brothers face and didn't apologize.
