We stopped by on the road and had a fantastic meal! It is definitely unassuming, but obviously a locals only place that gets a few traveller's here and there too. On a recent trip from L.A. to S.F., I found myself hungry close to but still over an hour away from our destination. My boyfriend pointed to a Subway sign and made a quick decision to pull off the highway. I wanted to eat but was not at all excited about Subway. Then I saw the sign for Antojitos and abruptly ordered him to stop. He is not a big fan of Mexican food so it took a minute to convince him that we should give the place a try. From top to bottom, this place is amazing. A lively and very clean little restaurant with a smiling, friendly owner. They do speak mostly Spanish here but then again, this place is authentic. We decided to share pork chile verde and chatted with the owner after ordering but before we'd even paid, our food was being delivered to our table. They make thick tortillas to order that are so scrumptious, it's worth coming just for these. The meat was cooked on the bone, old world style, and was to die for. On the way out, we ordered a horchata for dessert and our new friend threw in fresh squeezed cantaloupe juice. Yum. We liked the food so much that we made a point of coming back on the return trip. This time we were hungrier and ordered carne asada and chile rellenos. Both were incredibly delicious. We met the owner's daughter, had a couple of beers and felt like we were with family. This was the highlight of my trip when we drove down from the Bay Area to LA, thanks to Yelp. This is a bit hidden, and is located next to the Subway. This place doesn't have the big, bright neon signs that Subway and McDonald's have, and doesn't look super nice from the outside, but the food is leaps and bounds better than eating a burger or mediocre sandwich. This place has real Mexican food, and some of the best I've had, at inexpensive prices. For 5 of us, we paid $35 and left with full and happy stomaches. I got a gordita ($3.50) with chicken, and it was very indulgent and delicious. Forget any notion of Taco Bell gordtas here, and think of a deep fried pillowy, soft cloud-like corn dough sandwich, stuffed with tender and well-seasoned meat, lettuce, salsa. I also had a piece of a carne asada quesadilla, which was good and not skimpy on the meat, but I prefer the gordita to the quesadilla. The gordita is not healthy by any means, but ignore the deep fried grease on the wrapper and just embrace the deliciousness you can't just get anywhere else. If you're driving on the I-5, make sure this place is a place you stop at. It's open till 10:30 pm (at least on a Friday). If you choose McDonald's or Subway instead of this place, you should be ashamed of yourself for spending more money to eat worse food. read more

Ok let me start off by saying that this place used to be good, it was 4.5 stars. Now it is not and I dont reccomend it. We got real bad service! They couldnt push out our plates in time with only 4 others in the building. The food was not as apetizing as before and didnt come out like in the pictures on the menu. The place looks worse than before and its really filthy and smells really bad. Dont even dare to enter their bathrooms. The place over all is falling appart, respectfully. Don't let the construction fool you! These guys are definitely open, you just have to look for them. As you exit the freeway, go towards the McDonalds and Subway. Antojitos is actually in the same building as Subway but will be the first part of the building in the right hand side of the road. Very friend staff, big portions and great food. My wife and I stopped here as we were driving down to Lancaster (from San Francisco) for the weekend. Decided to stop by on our way through the valley. Service was fast for a sit down place. Definitely not a fancy place, but decently clean. Had a sope (choice of meat, $3.50) and the flautas (5 chicken for $8). By far the sope (asada) was the more flavorful of the two. The flautas weren't bad, just basic and really could have been improved with some additional salsa or caldo on top. The sope was a pretty decent size, had refried beans, sufficient meat to sope ratio, lettuce, tomato, cotija, and some a little salsa. Oh my goodness!!! Hubby and I were headed back to Sacramento from Ontario this evening. We decided to grab a bite to eat and got off at I-5 in Wesley because we saw a sign for Subway Sandwich. We drove around a building that was supposed to be Subway, (and it is) but we couldn't find it. There was this little Mexican restaurant on one side of the building and there was a Subway on the other side. Shared building...different entrances. The lady at the counter was sooooo sweet and helpful that we didn't have the heart to leave so we decided to forget Subway and order. Hubby and I each ordered a street taco plate with rice and beans. The food was delicious and the staff was so gracious and friendly!! The ONLY bad thing is they aren't in the Sacramento area!! When we are in the area again we will be back!!! read more

I was very pleased on how friendly this staff if...other people would of been annoyed having a group of 11 walk in 15 minutes before closing & plus everyone else who was there....they took there time explaining & suggesting off the menu.... I loved the cashiers personality. ... We order chile Verde plate...wow with homeade tortillas was a plus....Then the chile relleno dinner plate ..which I had the red sauce put on the side...I wasn't sure if it was gonna be to spicey or bland..I didn't want my chile relleno being ruined so I got the sause in a separate bowl...after trying it Yum it was good I've never had them this way... My husband had the sopes...which had all the topping a sopes should have beans,meat,lettuce, aourcream, tomatoes,salsa & avacados... Excellent lunch or dinner option on the way up to or back from the Bay Area! Don't be scared that it shares a building with subway. We split the pollo con mole which was enough to fill two very hungry girls. The poblano mole had a nice spicy/sweet thing going on, and the rice and beans mixed nicely with it. We also planned ahead and got a burrito al pastor to go since we have another 4 hours ahead of us :) The ladies who work here are super nice, and gave us samples of the asada, carnitas and pastor. I started a yelp account just for the purpose of raving about this place. The biggest difference was the handmade corn tortilla. It was so light, fluffy, and flavorful. You don't see that anymore really. The tacos are simple - made of just meat, onions, cilantro, and fresh salsa. I had the lengua, the pollo asado, and the al pastor. The al pastor was very tender and good tasting marinade. The lengua was so tender it was like eating beef flavored air. The chicken was moist and flavorful, even though it was with chicken breast. I'm going back again sometime this week. I don't care that it's 2 hours away from where I live. I'm never choking down an SF burrito ever again. Not with this place around.
