Came on a lovely late spring day. We had our dog with us and they let us sit on the patio, which was nice. They even brought out an umbrella to keep us a bit shaded from the sun. They brought out refreshing cups of water, chips and 6 types of salsa, while we reviewed the menu. The "chips" are actually whole corn tortillas fried! So you use them whole or break them into chips yourself. My guess on the salsas are: salsa verde (tomatillo), avocado, pico de gallo, a smoky ancho, a citrusy habanero, and something else. They all had distinct flavors and a little light spice, but we wanted spicier. They brought out the "no way Jose" sauce and warned us it's their spiciest and it sneaks up on ya! We tried it and found it was not burning but quite nice. We drizzled this sauce all over our food. It was the most flavorful of the bunch. The menu is quite extensive, with everything from sopas to sopes, tortas to tacos, cocktails to desserts. We each got a plate of food, meaning the main entree comes with Mexican red rice and refried beans. I got the sopita (aka sope) with barbacoa and a fish taco and husband got a dipped torta (I forget the name) filled with adobada. The amount of food and meat was quite generous, the toppings (veggies) too. I really enjoyed my sope - it had the perfect crispy crust and I could taste the slightly sweet creamy taste of the masa. The barbacoa was not as flavorful as I thought it would be. It was more like stewed beef meat. It was fine but I was expecting really deep flavor. The fish taco seemed freshly grilled and was moist, but there was a bit of a "fishy" smell and flavor that kind of took over. Thankfully, the generous veggie toppings and fresh handmade corn tortilla and salsas helped mask the flavor. Have to hand it to them that those tortillas are really good! The Mexican rice was perfect. I haven't had that flavor and texture in Mexican rice in a while and thought that was well done. The refried beans were good but also had a flavor I couldn't place my finger on... My husband said everything was really good on his plate. His torta was massive! Really flavorful and stacked with things. The adobada was very tasty. I wish I ordered that meat instead of the barbacoa and fish. Overall pretty good Mexican food, generous portions, really sweet service. The interior is also really clean and nicely decorated. They have a small parking lot out back. read more

Reviews were mixed on Yelp for this restaurant, but so glad we went! Such a wholesome & authentic place. Servers were welcoming and quick with service. We ordered from the lunch menu offered Monday-Friday. What a great deal! We both ordered the Carne Asada plate for just under $16! The kids menu was also affordable at $6.50. Years ago, this used to be my favorite spot to get some Mexican food. I went today with some friends and ordered some menudo. The menudo smelled strong like feces, not normal. When I pointed it out to them they reminded ne what I ordered trying to tell me it was normal when I know for a fact that if you clean it well enough like most places do, you will not get that smell. So I ordered something else. By the time I paid the bill the charged me for the menudo that was putrid. I complained about it but then they got mad stating what I should not expect anything better. The people in charge could not accept any criticism. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. They are rude and provide bad service. read more

After a less than desirable meal the prior night we made our way to Antojitos which has always been a favorite of ours. We started off with their basket of chips and the 6 or 7 different salsas they serve with it. My husband ordered essentially a mole burrito (tortilla filled with chicken, beans and rice and covered in mole sauce) which was delicious and huge; he only ate half. I ordered the sopito w/ barbacoa and taco w/ adovada combo and it was very good. Again the portion was large, so I took half home. I came in for dinner a couple of weeks ago. The place came highly recommended so I was pretty excited by the prospect of having some good Mexican food. The restaurant looks the part as soon as you walk in. The restaurant was packed on a Friday evening. We were seated immediately. Chips and salsas were quickly brought out. The chips were pretty decent but the sauces were very bland. As I have said many times before, a little bit of salt in your salsas goes a long way. We ordered our meal and were served rather quickly. The taco meats were also super bland and quite flavorless. I was not impressed. I tried seasoning my meal to no avail. The meal was not authentic enough for my taste. The service was excellent. We came to this restaurant waaaay back when they first opened, in the early 2000's before they're at the location they are now. There's a lot to like here... a highlight is really the different salsa samples that are offered with the full sized deep fried (!!!) taco shell you can use to snack on pre-meal. Yum. they have a real range of heat and spice. when it comes to the tacos, the looked delicious, i'm going to review my Carne asada - frankly it was a little disappointing. cooked well but bland. it came with a jalapeno but was devoid of salt, pepper or seasoning. the meat was quality. Another peeve of mine is the refried beans - why? why not use black beans or another side that's less cliche? The rest of my family ate the tacos, and honestly that seems to be what people come here for and all left happy, including me. Food pretty okay. It is pretty mexican food but the food lacks flavor and makes up by portion. The staff as alright but when its busy they have less staff and they get quite cranky. First I would like the say is the food is tasty but I would not risk my health again base on good food. I stop there the day before Thanksgiving and some tacos, beans and rice. On Thanksgiving I was very sick by Sat I was worse. Went to the ER and they told me I have the Norovirus from eatting there ( it was the only thing I ate that day). We really enjoy coming here for dinner! The staff has always made our experience wonderful and they make the effort to remember repeat customers which makes us feel right at home! As for the food, everything is always delicious! I love that for a vegan/Vegetarian option you can get potato in dishes. I appreciate the creativity instead of loading it with cheese. They have a variety of dishes to offer on the menu that are already veg friendly but they are willing to make adaptations.
