The staff is friendly and efficient, which makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed lunch. The restaurant is medium sized with adequate parking out front, and if things get busy, there's plenty of overflow in the adjacent Fred Meyer lot. The restaurant is in the middle of the strip mall just north of Fred Meyer. My spouse ordered the Avocado Tostada, which was generously sized and clearly delicious--he ate more than usual. It came with rice and refried beans, both well prepared. I used to order the Cheese/Onion Enchilada plate, which includes two enchiladas plus rice and beans, and I'd always end up taking half home (never quite the same reheated). Since my appetite is smaller, I now ask for just one cheese/onion enchilada on its own. The staff never blinks at the request, and my husband happily shares a bit of his refried beans with me. My meal was perfection. Definitely worth checking out. It's not the most extraordinary Mexican food in the area, but it's always very good--better than we can make at home--and that's why we keep coming back. read more

I was visiting Yakima and was recommended this restaurant and thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately our experience wasn't the best. There were three of us dining, and when our food came out, only two meals were delivered. We waited patiently and a second server came and noticed we had not received our third meal. He went to the kitchen and had conversation with the staff, and one of the servers had delivered our third meal to another table so two of us only had our dinner and we started to eat. One of the guests in our party went to open their burrito, and there was no meat in it, and it was specifically a beef burrito. Another server came again took the burrito back to the kitchen, and it was the wrong order. They made a new burrito and by this time the third entrée came out so we essentially all ate our dinner at different times because they were not delivered at the same time which was awkward. When the bill came the one entrée that was delivered correctly was overcharged and there was no mention of an up charge for a cream sauce on the enchilada. I questioned the server and she explained that the cream sauce was more expensive. I have no problem with an upcharge if it's listed on the menu. The prices at this restaurant are a little high. The food was just OK. I shared my experience with the person that recommended this restaurant and they were shocked as they dine in there regularly. I hope this was just an off night for them, but based on my experience, I would not return. read more

We have eaten at Ay Caramba many times and have nothing negative to say about the food, waitstaff, cooks, and cleanliness of this restaurant. I forgot to mention they have our favorite beer, Negro Modelo on tap and the margaritas are spot on. We even had them cater our granddaughters high school graduation party. Everyone loved the food. Yummy stop at Ay Caramba in Yakima, WA. The establishment is clean and welcoming. The staff was super friendly and helpful. A nice basket of crunchy tortilla chips accompanied with a salsa and the MOST delicious cabbage/cilantro/onion thing! I said it was like a pico de gallo but dryer and with cabbage! We asked for more cause it was so good!! I ordered the taco salad with chicken. It was good. Lots of fresh made chicken in a fried tortilla bowl. My first meal here yesterday. The service and food was very good. My street tacos had nice pieces of well seasoned pork. the rice and beans were delicious and not overly salted as is the norm with most restaurant food. I had plenty leftover for a nice lunch today. Also love the salsa, cabbage salad and chips. The decor is colorful and tasteful. The booths are comfortable and clean. After moving back to the area we continue to compare our experiences at Mexican places to those in Iowa. So far, Yakima wins by a longshot! With a name like Ay caramba we figured this was the spot that we needed to try. Upon entering we noted the delightful ceramic fish on the walls. Our two and four-year-olds very much appreciated them as well. The beer and libation selection was lovely with a good number of Mexican beers available. The food here was solid, good salsa and chips to start, with good standard Mexican. Burritos were good, the Chimichanga was good and my personal favorite, the crab enchiladas, were pretty darn awesome! We're always intrigued by food offerings we haven't seen before, and we were very surprised to see something this unique (we've had a lot of Mexican food and never seen this previously!). The crab enchiladas were a win for the place and made an otherwise good, not great meal, a step up from average. The place is medium sized, with adequate parking out front and plenty of overflow in the adjacent Fred Meyer lot if it's a particularly crazy evening. Worth checking out for sure. I have eaten here at least 10+ times and loved the food every time. First off you are welcomed by friendly personal service. They are quick to get your order in and look to enjoy there job by always smiling and getting the customers smiling. The chips and salsa are amazing! I love to try new things constantly and every dish I have had is always superb. They even will substitute corn shells in for dishes that are normally flour which is awesome for certain peoples dietary needs. The food comes promptly and they are always keeping drinks and salsa topped off. The prices seem fair for the large portions you receive and they have a great lunch menu as we'll. My recommendation, fast and friendly service with a wide variety of amazing tasting dishes. This is my new favorite restaurant in town and hopefully yours as well. read more

Best Mexican food ever. I am from Western Washington and was visiting Yakima. I simply googled Mexican restaurants near me and this place came up. I ordered the street tacos and rice and beans and figured it would just be regular Mexican food nothing special. I was wrong. It's the best ever and owned by Mexicans who care about their customers.
