Ordered 5 tacos of adobada and a chile relleno combo all for under 40 bucks, that sounds kind of expensive for what you're ordering, but the serving sizes are actually pretty substantial, so a combo option for under 10 dollars is actually a really nice deal in this age of a 20/30 dollar dish. The meat in the tacos was good, seasoned well, there wasn't any gristle or huge chunks of fat which was nice. Salsas were self serve, and while not at all hot added some great extra flavor. Would definitely say the tacos are worth it. The chile relleno was also really good, I'd never had one before but it was cooked and fried well and the red sauce that covered it was tasty. Tacos El Rey was a fantastic taqueria to go to for dinner. It was simple to order and there was plenty of seating. The horchata was good. I loved my super burrito. I felt that the balance of the components was great. The lime and two salsas added a lot to the burrito as well. I especially liked the green salsa. Very clean restaurant, service was good. I ordered fish tacos they were just oh k, not your typical breaded fish taco. They were tilapia fish grilled on homemade tortillas. The menudo was good. This place has been in business since they started with a taco truck I've known and love this place not only do they have fast in wonderful service all the time. The place is clean and the tortillas and food is always consistently fresh and delicious and the ambience is great. They have TVs if you want to watch the game. We were told these were the best tacos in Yakima so after a 3.5 hour drive, it's only fair we come here. Not the best I've had, but they're pretty good. When I first saw the prices, I was disappointed but the size of the tacos are fair for the price point though I enjoy the small, cheap tacos from bundle deals. They do give a generous amount of meat too. Though, a burrito is roughly 3 tacos so value wise, the burritos a great deal. Asada Tacos - get the asada on anything! Their steak is great, tender meat. Tacos themselves are again, fairly large. Four is a very solid amount for a meal. One hundred percent get the asada over other meats. Use provided sauces for more flavor if needed. Adobada Tacos - the adobada is extra juicy as it's a marinated meat but the one here also packs a slight kick. Not a substantial spiciness, but it's sort of there as extra flavor, especially if you don't want to add more sauce yourself. Asada Burrito - like the tacos, there's a good amount of meat. Also in the burrito is rice and beans but I would say meat makes up half the burrito. More filling than a few tacos, but that makes sense. Snag this for a cheaper but filling meal. read more

I am elderly and have a very small appetite. I was not allowed to order on the children's menu and there is no senior menu. Service was slow (Jacob) and said I could not order on the children's menu. That was not noted on the menu. We really saw Jacob after our initial order and finally had to ask for our check since he did not come back. Service was great! Honestly couldn't ask for anything more at a spot like this. The line was to the door so around 5 groups of people ahead of us. The line moved quickly. Maybe 5 minutes??? Not bad at all. The restaurant tables were also full when we walked in, but seemed that all the patrons ate their meals pretty quick because we never saw people waiting for a table to open up. The process was very smooth! My wife ordered a build your own burrito not offered on the menu and the staff were super helpful to walk her through her options to build a delicious vegetarian burrito! Again the staff was helpful and not inconvenienced in the fact we didn't have our usual order ready to go like most of the other clientele. This was much appreciated since it was our first time! I ordered cabeza, barbacoa, and carnitas tacos. Like others have said previously they are large so 3 was plenty! The meat was super flavorful! Not too salty! Each had its own unique and authentic flavor! I'd put these tacos up against the other top taco spots on my favorites list from around the country! In my travels it's been difficult to find tacos that have a nice balance of fat(lard), authentic flavor, and quality meat that's not dried out or over cooked on a flavorful fresh tortilla. The hot sauce options were delicious as well! Tacos El Rey...nailed it on all three of my tacos and my wife's burrito! Wow - so flavorful!!! I wish we could get Mexican food this good in Seattle. We were blown away. Had the shrimp tostada which was loaded with deliciously seasoned shrimp ceviche. The chicken in the burrito was so good I hummed through my meal. My other loved the chicken tacos with the hand made tortillas, served with radishes and lime. Had 3 salsas, including a spicy red one and a tomatillo one, both of which were zippy and fabulous. Cant say enough about this food. They were crowded, but totally worth the make to order wait. When you walk in you can see the cleanliness of the restaurant paired with the good smells of the food. The menu is simple yet readable yet scrumptious. My boyfriend is into hot food, and they can bring the spice (they did inform us beforehand). The shrimp tostada was fresh and light tasting. The tacos are great. I've tried lengua, adobada, asada, cabeza, pollo and carnitas. The only one I wouldn't order again is the pollo. That isn't because it's bad, it just doesn't compare to the the others for flavor. The man got a burrito last visit. He enjoyed it. I made the mistake of ordering the two tacos with rice and beans -- plus two more tacos because I wanted to try all of them. I couldn't finish the rice and beans, and didn't feel so great that night. But that was entirely the fault of my own gluttony. I'll do better next time. read more

Tasted the asada and it had a little more flavor. I don't know if the sope dough, beans, and pork just needed salt or what. Several of the sauces had heat (not taste just hot). I am very disappointed in the quality of this torta. Little to no lettuce, one slice of avocado and one slice of tomato. This is ridiculous, if you are going to run a restaurant and want customers to come back then start providing quality food and accurate descriptions. I asked if there was lard in the beans and was assured there was not. My vegan sisters ate it to find out on our next visit that they make it with lard. This was just so disappointing that they do not care enough to check with the kitchen about ingredients. Especially with food restrictions. read more
