After months of drooling over their posts, we finally made it happen and it did not disappoint. I (JH) have never had Venezuelan food before so I wasn't sure what to get. After the kind gentleman explained the menu items to us, I ended up with a Cachapa with ham. In full disclosure I don't know what a cachapa is "supposed" to taste like so I have no baseline to compare it to, but as far as flavor goes, this was fantastic. The outside reminded me of a thinner, slightly crispier arepa. The sweet corn wasn't too sweet and the butter gave it a great sweet/salty combo. The inside is filled with what's called De Mano cheese...think of it like a mozzarella type cheese. And boy did they fill it! In addition to the cheese I added ham, but I could have gone with smoked pork, steak, more cheese, sausage, etc. AND I could have gotten as many meats as I wanted to, they're just all an up charge...obviously. I (JD) had the UBF Burger and it was fantastic. This monster comes with Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, Bacon , Egg, Cabbage, Potato Chips, Ketchup, Mayo, Mustard, Pink Sauce, Green Sauce, and a side of delicious fries. When a sandwich has things like "pink sauce" and "green sauce" listed, count me in! The burger was massive. I got the double beef, but you can customize from a single to a quad, as well as pick one of their other meat options (see JH's review for list). The "potato chips" are the delicious little potato sticks and they were a nice addition to the sandwich. Their French fries were amazing. I don't know if they put a really lite breading on them, but they had a delightful little crispness to them. Not listed on the menu is a house made drink described to us as kind of a sweet tea/lemonade, but they use real tea leaves, cane sugar and other ingredients that weren't listed, but tasted differently wonderful. They have 6 covered and lit picnic tables which was good, but being that the truck is located on Bayshore road across from the North Fort Myers Wal-Mart, you do hear quite a bit of traffic, though that didn't seem to interrupt our conversations at all so it's not too intrusive. It wasn't what we would consider cheap as our orders totaled about $24 each, but it's a food truck and we expect to pay a little more. At UBF, we're happy to do so and support them making delicious food. Make sure you check their hours before you go though, they aren't open everyday. But we definitely recommend you go!

Q Papaya sells all the staples-- arepas, cachapas, empanadas, etc. But it tends to be the greasy, fried version of these. We've eaten here twice, and both times have been underwhelmed by the quality of the food. The prices are kind of high for such average food. Empanadas are fairly cheap, around $3.50 each, but you're not really getting much. Arepas and cachapas fetch higher prices, over ten dollars, but are simply not worth that much. There is no real ambiance. This is just a counter in the mall. I have been to nice Venezuelan restaurants with better prices, and better food. This is the touristy, mall version of a Venezuelan restaurant.

I got the patacon with shredded beef. I was expecting a sort of fried plantain sandwich with the shredded beef in the middle, but it was still delicious. My husband got one of the cachapas that I got to try. I like how the corn flour is coarsely ground where I can still see and taste the corn kernels. My brother for the llanera arepa that he did not let me try but it still looked delicious. The staff was very sweet, and the atmosphere was very familial. Overall great place, I'd love to come back!

My go to is Carne Asada Tacos. These are street tacos so I'd recommend 2-3 depending on your appetizers. Chips and Salsa are amazing. Anafre Fudido con Chorizo is also amazing. Get both as an appetizer if there are a few of you at the table. The Anafre is a version of Chips and queso that includes bean and cheese dip with chorizo served in a flaming warmer that keeps the cheese bubbling hot. I've also had the Columbian Empanadas and the Caldo de Res (Beef Soup) and both are amazing. The Caldo is a beef and vegetable soup your Mom would be proud of. It's amazing. I've been back numerous times in the short time I've known of the restaurant, I've taken my family and will continue going back as often as possible. Came here for Cinco de Mayo and a little date night out with some friends…read more This isn't the first time I've been here, but everytime I come its always a great time. There was live music that night and they had everyone up dancing. The place has a bunch of food trucks around the perimeter of a courtyard style area. Nice big bar in the middle with quite a few VIP seating lounges available to rent (the pics show them with the big pink and blue couches) and a few areas with games to play like electric darts, bowling and other yard games like big Jenga, connect four, corn hole. Lots of outdoor seating, some with fire pits, and the place is kid friendly! It was great to see the littles out dancing too. We tried the lobster tacos from the lobster truck. They were great!! Stuffed with lobster. A few of the other food trucks included Greek food, pizza truck, sandwiches and a taco truck (my favorite was when they used to have a mac n chz truck there ) We tried a couple different cocktails from the bar and they were delish too. Our bartender was super sweet and had a great personality. The places hosts many events: from bike night to bingo to salsa dance lessons.. so there's no doubt we wont be back soon to enjoy the fun!
