Antonio's is our go-to pizza joint in the CSRA. It's conveniently close to our house. And though we love all kinds of pizza types, we appreciate the no-frills style offered at Antonio's. A lot of pizza places try to disguise sub-par crust and sauce with tons of toppings and fancy combinations. But in my opinion, it you can't get the basics right you have no business making pizza. Antonio's reminds my of Brooklyn-style by-the-slice street fair. This is the place to get a really good pepperoni, veggie or cheese pizza. The crust is nice and thin, not too thin but thin enough to serve as the vessel for sauce and cheese (I hate mellow mushroom because I always feel like I'm eating a breadstick with toppings). We always place an order for pick up and the pizza is always ready when we arrive. Service is good, polite, and quick. We went in on a Tuesday at noon and it was packed, which was a great sign for us. We ended up just ordering to go since we had a hangry two year old. The Neapolitan pizza was delicious and made to order, or you can order by the slice if that's what you want. I had lunch with my wife here today, and we both expected better from this restaurant. I will begin with the good things that we experienced. We were greeted and seated quickly, but they were not busy yet. Our server took our drink order and the service was decent for the remainder of the visit but not better than. That was about the only thing I can say that was good. Looking at the menu it became clear that a lot of the dishes were overpriced. However, the more you looked at it, the worse it got. They charge for every little thing! Including things that should just be included in your dish anyway are extra. We both ordered pretty much the same thing. Hers was the lunch portion Manicotti with an added side salad and I had the dinner portion that came with the salad. The cost for a garden salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and red onion is $4.50. Now depending on which cheese you choose the price varies, but cheese IS NOT included with the salad. I added cheddar for an extra .75 The salad came out with one slice of cucumber cut in half, one tomato slice cut in half, and two small rings of onion. The cheese I paid an extra .75 for was less than a tablespoon. It also came with about a 1oz cup of dressing which did turn out to be plenty and here's why. The salad still had so much water in it ( I assume from rinsing it, not sure) that it quickly reduced our dressing extremely thin and rendered it nearly tasteless. The dressing did come out fairly thick and flavorful in the little cup, the water in the salad ruined it though. When the main dish arrived, we were both extremely disappointed... We had the Manicotti with meat sauce that came out topped with two cheese slices and the appearance was not very appetizing. It was very disappointing, to say the least. The bread that came with the meal was a disappointment as well. The butter was cold, hard, and not spreadable or even close to it. Our experience was not favorable and we see no need to return. Maybe we should have had the pizza, it seems to have pretty good reviews. But that was overpriced as well. Especially considering close-by options for good pizza for less. read more

This place is awesome. The staff was super friendly and we received our food quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. For an appetizer we ordered the chicken wings which come in an order of 6. They are oven baked, juicy and piping hot when we got them. You can order the Sicilian style pizza which is a thicker crust, but we decided to order two had tossed cheese slices. We also ordered the beef ravioli, which comes with meat or marinara sauce; we chose the meat sauce. The pizza and ravioli we both stunning, the flavor profile was just through the roof. I had a great meal here last night. Yes, it was "just pizza", but it was really good. I've driven by here so many times and finally decided to stop. It was 7:30 on a Friday night and I was able to be seated right away. Antonio's is not a huge place, so I can imagine that is not always the case. A plus on service. The main waitress was great and a couple others seemed to be checking on me. That's a good staff. For my meal I had the Bacon cheeseburger pizza. YUM! The crust was crunchy, the sauce had the right amount of sweet flavor, and all together with the salty cheese and toppings it was delicious. I ate 3 slices. When I got home I ate 1 more! Lasagna and salad were also very good, and they do bring out a bread basket. They offer a small selection of beer and wine, and they may have dessert but I wasn't offered any and wasn't looking for it when I ordered my meal. Antonio's is locally owned and Run this is there 2nd location I think by now they surely know how it's done! I mean really because you go in on a super busy night u are going to disgrade a restaurant because the service was less than perfect!! Well my family we love Antonio's my favorite Italian place they have the best pizza thin or Sicilian thick crust great salads!! I can only comment on the pizza so take it with a grain of salt. A friend suggested this eatery to me so I gave it a go. I was disappointed because the way they talked about the pizza slices I had high hopes. To me the crust was about the only portion of the pizza that I liked. The sauce and toppings were too bland for me and the pizza was a bit soggy in the middle. Everyone tastebuds are different. read more

This place has been on my list to try for a while. I came by myself on a Friday night and the service was awesome. I got the eggplant parmesan with the side of pasta and regular marinara. Not the best I've ever had but it's something I don't make at home and thought it was pretty good and the serving size was enough to feed 2 or 3 more people. My only complaint is the way the eggplant parm is served. It's in a small little boat and then the side of pasta is brought on a separate plate. May be nit picky of me, but I actually enjoy eating them together and you couldn't do that the way it was served without making a mess. The bread was really good. I would be willing to come back here to try more of their menu. Think the prices and service overall are better here than at other Italian places in the area. Quaint little place ticked away behind the Wells Fargo building. At first the atmosphere takes you by surprise. Just a typical pizza joint with plastic salad bowls and bread basket. I ordered the lasagna and I was not disappointed. The meat sauce was full of flavors that popped. The portion was just tight, not too heavy on cheese. The staff are super friendly and polished. The prices are mid range for a pizza joint however the taste compares to any Italian place in the area and maybe even better. Will be back yo try the linguini with clams. read more

After a long day of being a tourist in a rainy city, pizza was necessary. We called ahead so that it would be ready for pickup and we when we arrived we only had to wait for a few minutes before that poor man we sent through the rain to go in returned with our pizzas. The whole ride home it smelled delicious! And then, when we got to my friends' home we all were so excited to finally get to try what we had been breathing in the whole car ride back. It was my first time having Antonio's pizza but they were pros and they had been extolling the pizza the whole ride. It didn't disappoint. There was so much cheese... and I am a firm believer that cheese really should hold a pizza together. Antonio's wasn't skimpy on the toppings either. Uggg Came up for Father's Day weekend, and met up with a friend I haven't seen in years. He suggested this place, so I said sure thing. Upon entering, it smelled really good! Attentive staff and the place got crowded as the night went on. But the food.......Uh......OK, I live in Charlotte and am from Chicago. I KNOW what good/decent/bad Italian Food is all about. I wasn't expecting Luce in Uptown Charlotte or Italian Village in Chicago. But I've been to MANY, MANY "hole in the wall" Italian restaurants all over the continent so maybe my expectations were just TOO high..... I ordered the Chicken Parm, and first off the chicken breast was very small (must have been a kiddie bird?). And the chicken itself was kind of rubbery and had an "off" taste. I couldn't eat the whole thing. As far as the parmagiana....it was nonexistant on my chicken. I've made this plenty of times and the parm is the first thing you should taste....that's why it's so damned good! Not here. I ordered the meat sauce for my pasta, and an extra order of Italian Sausage and Meatballs. These two are my litmus test for Southern Italian style food. Both failed. I use Johnsonville sausage as my source of comparison....if it isn't as good as a simple store bought sausage, then I've got an issue. The meatball didn't have that much flavor and was dry. My Dad ordered baked spaghetti with the marinara on the side. He's 85 and lost his taste for red sauces.....his pasta was flavorless. Granted it was made WITHOUT the marinara....but they could have at least livened it up with a good Olive Oil....I would have! The place was crowded when we left. Either the locals just don't know what good peasant Italian food is or they feel they have no other choices.....which North Augusta SC doesn't....but Augusta GA is just across the river and, I hate to say this, but the OLIVE Garden, Macaroni Grill and Carabbas's are FAR better than this place. Oh and this place is NOT cheap by any means. My Chicken Parm with the 2 extras cost $19.00. That's way too much for this town and for the quality being served. I really hated writing this review......I'm not trying to be mean, just stating it the way that it was...at least to me and my Dad. And my Dad lives just down the block. He said he wouldn't go back. Food is always good here at this Americanized Italian. Perfect lunch with my wife. Wife had the spinach and feta calzone, I had the meat ravioli. Only funny thing is that I asked the waitress what meat was in the ravioli and she didn't know. My wife said I was being very British in asking what meat it was !! It could have been goat for all I knew plus why didn't the waitress know what meat it was?. Overall it was a great experience and I would go back anytime. Out for a spontaneous Tuesday drive exploring nearby North Augusta, when we decided to stop for something to eat. First stop, Gary ' Hamburgers when the wife says, isn't this the same as the one in Evans? So, then I see this small Italian restaurant, Antonio ' Italian Eatery. So, we stop in for a bite to eat. The menu contains standard Italian dishes, pizza, spaghetti, lasagna, tiramisu, and cannoli. We opted for the pizza, which can be bought by the slice or as a pie. I stayed with pepperoni, while my wife opted for the Donna Rae, named for the owner. The pizza tasted just like New York - style pizza. The best I've had in a long time. Not one to miss out on dessert, my wife ordered the Spumoni ice cream. She's not a huge fan of Neopolitan - ice cream, but she enjoyed the raspberry, chocolate, and pistachio dessert. She had 2 slices of pizza with pineapple and ham which she cut off a small piece to let me try and I found it to be at least as good as Pizza Central over in Evans if not better. I had the spaghetti with marinara sauce with mushrooms and sausage (I would have done the meatballs but found out that they are sadly frozen) and found it to be far better than Giuseppe's. Overall I give then an 8 to maybe a 9 though they might have gotten a 10 if they would upgrade their meatballs. read more

My second review. My first was two stars but we went back for friend's b-day this evening and had good time. The service was very good. I really like their Greek Salad. I got eggplant parmesan and it was ok. Well better than ok but nothing amazing. We actually got bread with our dinner this time. I can't remember them actually offering bread before. I dont think that the locally owned pizzerias or other small restaurants in town that have been in business for years have survived because they they have bad food or bad service. On the contrary, something good must be going on for the vast majority of the transactions that take place in a small locally owned business.They would have perished by now if they werent up to snuff. The owners and staff have a lot of hard work to do to keep up their reputations. If you have a bad experience in a local business , talk to the owners and let them know what the issue was so that they can fix it.
