I love this place. Right on the river for awesome scenery and it has a cute and unique ambiance with some little covered wagon booths for privacy. The service was always good and the food was delicious. My favorite is the Shrimp Boursin. So worth the calories and I liked it so much I order it every time I go there! We took my Mother in-law here for birthday lunch on their recommendation. My husband and father in-law ordered the ribs and us ladies ordered the pan fried walleye. We were visiting from Texas so I was really looking forward to the Walleye. We cannot get walleye in Texas. I was so very disappointed. It tasted like they pulled it straight out of the freezer and then over cooked the heck out of it. The men reported that the ribs were just "ok". The popovers were very good and the scenery was nice. The atmosphere here was nice, and it is a very unique place. Lots of quirky decorations, especially for Halloween. The menu looked great, I had a hard time deciding so I asked the waitress for recommendations. Never had a popover before, and that was pretty good. The Soup was great, but there was an Upcharge to add soup or salad to an already overpriced entrée with one side selection. We waited a long time for our food, plenty of time after finishing our soup and popovers. I ordered the chicken boursin and it was not very impressive. Was in the area to visit a friend and see a tractor show. Our friend told us about this place so we had to eat here. The lunch menu choices were decent. Our waiter was great. I shall name him "Brian" since I forgot his name. The HUGE popover and honey butter erased my mind-total brain re boot was needed because when our lunch was served, I forgot what I ordered. They have no deep fryers so no french fries. The potato choices for sides are ok and typical-mashed, potato salad, chips, and oh yeah, cole slaw. When Brian was asked for recommendations, he was honest. "The potato salad is not that great today. I would go for the slaw". They have local "moonshine" for sale too. Full bar. They also have massive geese on site with 2 feeders. Had fun feeding them. They LOVE popovers too. Looks like the restaurant also has live music in the evenings. The history of this place is interesting. They had me at "speakeasy". Parking is huge. It has a separate entrance/driveway off Frontage Rd but you can also get to it via the Riverwoods Mall entrance. Worst experience ever. We were visiting the St Cloud area and was told the food was good. This was the opposite, it was terrible. The prime rib was so rough the steak knife couldn't cut it. In addition it was even cooked right. When asked to cook the steak desired temp it was wrong for second time. The service was so bad that I get better service at McDonalds. I would not recommend this place for anything. I paid alot of money for the worst find ever. read more

You should popover to this place as able. The various offerings are highly digestible however to be pleasantly satiated one must look no further than a side salad with a few of their fresh mammoth popovers served with a subtly cinnamon whipped butter. Some are turned off by the portion that touches the pan that is a bit crispy but I believe it adds complexity and texture diversity to the baked good. Come hungry leave happy. read more

Ok, to start I went in winter and still found the ambiance lovely. My waitress was friendly without being overbearing and was quick to check in with us. We started with the bruschetta which had the perfect amount of crunch, if anything there was a little too much cheese but that was easy to brush off. I had the herb encrusted steak over mashed potatoes which was delicious, but lacked a wow factor. However, it was cooked to perfection. My companion had the curry salmon and loved it much to his surprise. Even I enjoyed the salmon and I don't like fish. The sauce, the green curry, was delicious and made the whole dish. It was spicy without being hot, it had a kick but wasn't bad enough to burn. The waitress also worked hard to get us in and out, as we requested, because we had an event later that evening. All in all, it was a nice dinner and I felt the price matched for what I got. read more

Had dinner here while on business, the folks we were meeting with said go to Anton's. We did, the group of us from CA and we were impressed. Great beer, super food. The steaks were great, the appetizers hit the spot, the beverage list nicely done and the food was universally first class. The server helped make the desserts so we tried it, multi talented was she. My husband and I both ordered steaks. Mine was good, however my husband ordered Medium and it came out bloody. When he told the waitress she made the comment "We do cook things on the rare side" and brought it back. It came out only slightly less bloody and still pretty rare. The popovers are supposedly "amazing" but ours came out so burnt we couldn't choke them down. These things coupled with the poor service, extremely tacky plastic table clothes and weird smell has ensured we will never return. read more

Horrible service for a party of 30+ people. Only two staff members for 4 very full tables and the bar. Servers brought out food in a very unorganized fashion, not knowing whose food was whose. Some people did not even receive their meals all together (including myself) and the manager did nothing to compensate for the inconvenience. St. Cloud Tradition! Dating from speakeasy days of prohibition to today's full bar, customers have enjoyed libations next to the Sauk River. On a warm summer Eve we felt like we were on holiday in Europe. Only it's better than the old country if you want walleye! Menu has MANY gluten free options; sorry to say popovers are not among them. Scenic and charming with big pours of wine and fabulous duck. Popovers a hit. The young college student who waited on our table took good care of us and other tables in his area. We stopped here for dinner one night after reading the good reviews and are happy we did. For our entrees, we ordered the black n blue burger and the chicken raspberry salad. Both were excellent quality, well prepared and tasted great. The popovers are incredible! Decent list of wines and beers and reasonable prices to boot! The only thing that kept me from giving it five stars is that the service was rather slow. We were greeted and got a table right away. We arrived on the early side for dinner, the dining area was about half to two-thirds full. Pretty regular guests, usually sit in the lounge for apps, however today we opted for a sit down dinner with a view. We were the first ones seated, waited on promptly, however after our first beverages , we did not see our server 'Bunny' for 41 minutes. Apparently she hopped away. Guests seated after us were addressed by their server numerous times, and they were eating before us, again, they were seated after us! We got up paid for our beverages and left. The wife and I went for a late supper. I had the shrimp Boursin, wife had the chicken Boursin. It was nothing more than microwaved garbage. My shrimp was so overcooked, it was rubbery. Went to dinner show on dec 10th. First thing we were served were the popovers that were BURNT they even tasted burnt told waiter and his reply was .....they're not burnt! He did get us new ones that we could eat. Made it easy for me to not give him a good tip. Guess they haven't been trained that the customer is always right. We just wanted what was coming to us. This isn't the first time we have been served burnt popovers but wanted to give them a second chance but never will go back to this place to eat. read more

Excellent menu to chose from. They also have quite the variety of scotch drinks as well as an extensive wine list. Make sure if you visit to feed the geese that are in their garden area between the Resturant and the river. They have a great walking path for great views of the animals and river. read more

I visited Antons on a Thursday night before New Year's weekend. My wife and I are from Becker, MN and were celebrating our anniversary. This was our first visit to the restaurant. We ordered the ribs and a ribeye steak. The service was great and the popover, salad and entrees were also excellent. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated and has clearly been around for a while, but that is what gives it it's character. There were plenty of other customers, but not so many that you feel crammed in and rushed. I would recommend this restaurant as a good place to eat. read more

We came with a group last week that had reservations over a month before coming. The service was more than slow. The popovers were over done and after waiting over 90 minutes for our food, it was lukewarm, dry and overcooked. The host of our group spoke to management at least four times asking for an explanation for the lack of service but all we were ever told was that they had another group.
