It was the best connection I could have made. Belinda is there, a real person, with helpful information about the process, which is online, easy, and affordable. The best peace of mind you can buy. In my search I got real insight into the business ... dont go with a corporate conglomerate, go with Ashes! You'll get to know them all. Dominique handled a complicated process with the death certificate and worked overtime on my mom's behalf. I shared some much needed laughs with Ron. Because I wasn't able to be with my mom at the end, I arranged a viewing and was so glad I did. They're partners with a beautiful church in Pasadena, we had a room all to ourselves, and it was just the closure we needed. I got to meet Dominique in person and thank her for everything she did. This place is tormenting us at an extremely difficult time! They claim a weight of 350 pounds for a 230 pounds (per hospital and doctor) man. The extra weight adds extra cost but that is not the most upsetting aspect of this situation. It's just so hard to have your loved one misrepresented in death. read more

This was the first time I had to handle a death situation but Lawrence and Belinda were able to explain the step-by-step process over the phone and in person as well. Thanks sooooo much for ALL of your assistance with the passing of our loved one. The process took a while due to COVID and the Ashes to Ashes team stayed patient the entire time. Their pricing was transparent and consistent...no hidden fees. Due to covid we did not have an in person funeral, just a burial and a team member, Priscilla, even came to the burial in person and stayed to ensure our loved one was handled and buried with care. This is a long overdue five-star review.  My grandma traveled from China along with my parents to visit me in July 2019.  Grandma had very weak lungs but she really wanted to visit me before it's too late.  Unfortunately after two weeks in LA, she passed away in an ER in LA County. It was a heavy hit to our family as it was supposed to be a happy reunion trip but now things turned upside down.  We needed to have grandma cremated and take ashes back to China for burial.  My parents only speak Chinese so they were inclined to choose from rose hill, forest lawn or a few other companies in San Gabriel area as they have representatives who speak Chinese.   My mom (the deceased grandma's daughter) was really heartbroken and she wanted grandma to be taken care of in a certain way according to Chinese tradition before direct cremation, as this is the last thing my mom can do for her.  Plus my parents had to return to China ASAP so they needed the entire process to finish by a certain date in order to meet their scheduled flight.  This means every step down the road has to meet the planned timeline---when to clear body from hospital from the coroner, when to clear cremation cert and death cert, when to clear paperwork from Chinese consulate, etc. Other companies (six or seven of them) we contacted were either unable to accommodate the service or timeline we needed, or were quoting at unaffordable prices.   After doing some research, I found Ashes to Ashes through Yelp n Google and we decided to meet Berlinda in her office.  My mom is a super detailed auditor so she wanted to know all details of steps from getting my grandma from the hospital to the end of cremation including paperwork needed to fly back to China.  I translated all the Q&As between my mom and Berlinda and I was very impressed by Berlinda's professionalism and patience.  She explained everything thoroughly and we felt she was with us and her team could do this well.  Berlinda was able to accommodate what we needed (even though some of our requests do not fall under the company's regular service!), gave us a very reasonable price with itemized costs (this was super important for my mom to see due to her occupational habit), and gave us an estimated timeline that worked for us.  We decided to use this A2A to  take care of grandma. Lawrence later took over the handling process.  My mom initially felt uncomfortable as she thought Berlinda would be handling, so there had been a lot of questions to Lawrence regarding the process, if we can still meet the timeline, paperwork needed from Chinese Consulate, etc.  I can't remember how many duplicated questions and update inquiries on an almost daily basis that I texted Lawrence, and I felt very bad about bugging him too much, but he was always patient, polite and answered all questions in detail.  He was very down to earth---no exageration, no overpromise, but just told us the facts, possible things to expect and his planned actions. In the end, Josh helped us at the cremation facility, he was kind and we felt comforting.   We met grandma one last time, and then she finally rested in peace.  It was my family's belief that the deceased is not truly rested before cremation, so we finally received the relief.   One more thing I want to mention is about the certifications by the Secretary of State and Certification from Chinese Consulate.  A2A already mastered the process with the Secretary of State and ensured paperwork was done within the timeline, but they actually never dealt with the Consulate of China.  They were able to make multiple phone calls to figure out what needs to be done, there had been a bit of bumps, but we were updated with every step and estimated time, and we received paperwork in time.  It was also smooth to pick up the ash and paperwork.  Eventually, my parents went through customs smoothly and grandma's ashes got buried next to my grandpa in a cemetery in China.   Our family felt extremely grateful to all staff at A2A, it was a streamlined process.  They treated us as family, with extraordinary care and patience.  Of course no one wishes to go through a tragic event in their family, but I would recommend A2A to any family that needs help. read more

By default Calvary picked up my Dad on Friday, July 10 but we were scheduled for a phone appointment on July 28! Yes they were impacted by COV19 but we should have been told in advanced. My parents had a pre-paid burial plot. Frustrated with the wait and expense of going through Calvary, I shopped around for better services and found Ashes to Ashes on Yelp. Due to the pandemic, we decided not to have any type of services and that kept the kept out final payment under $1000. Calvary charged almost $700 for transportation from the home to Calvary. Nevertheless, it was still less expensive to move him to Ashes to Ashes. Belinda was very attentive, and kept us informed at all times. My Dad came home today and now we can move forward. read more
