Came here with my cousin to listen to Pure Joy! she is my cousin's neighbor and her singing did not disappoint! Limited street parking and $7 all night parking across the street at CPB. It was nice to not have to go far. Food: I wanted to order everything cause I was so hungry but I settled for lechon and garlic (no parmesan) fries. My cousin went healthy and got a salad and steamed fish. Granted everything got shared but when it came to taking home the leftovers, I got the pork and she took the fish. Our server Duc was just great with accommodating all our questions and special dietary needs. He also offered some suggestions. It wasn't overly busy but almost all the tables were filled. Came for 80's night. I felt like the youngest person in there LOL. The band playing was Wasabi and they were really good. They sure got the crowd going. I ordered the chicken salad which was good, but would've been better with white meat/chicken breast. Hubby said the tater totts were crispy. He also had a BLT and Spam/Egg combo, which he liked. This is a BUSY place. And like the TARDIS, it's bigger on the inside than you would think from the outside, especially after looking at the parking lot (translation: don't expect to find a parking spot). Typical bar food. We had to sit at the bar, so the bartender was our sever, and she was VERY busy. The food was generally good, but the yakisoba (fried noodles) was REALLY salty. Drinks were okay, but nothing standout or special. This is a very 'local' spot, not a high-end bar or craft cocktail bar in any sense of the word. This wasn't my first time here, and my previous experiences had always been good. Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. We said we didn't and asked if we could sit at the bar. She rather rudely told us that everything was full and to "check at the bar." When we got there, the bartender was very friendly and immediately said, "No worries, we have a table for you." She seated us, and we ordered a few rounds of drinks and pupus. A little later, the same hostess came to our table and rudely told us to move to the bar. We politely explained that we were halfway through our drinks and would be happy to move as soon as we finished. She responded, "No, you need to move now because this table is reserved and the party is here." She walked away, and I expected her to come back so we could ask for the check. Instead, she sent a waiter with our bill. After we paid, she returned and started cleaning the table while we were still sitting there. The waiter brought our receipt and apologized several times for the situation. I told him it was unfortunate because this would be our last visit. He apologized again and said there wasn't anything he could do because she was the owner. It's a real shame. This is not how loyal customers should be treated. We had always enjoyed coming here, but after this experience, we won't be returning. read more

I had a late lunch with Maris on a Thursday in mid-June, at Anyplace Lounge. Maris got so drunk the night before, at her friend Rian's birthday party at Little Joe's that she just had water to drink. I had a Diet "Coke" which didn't seem like it was an authentic Coca Cola product. It was noticeable to me, although I guess when people in the bar are getting drunk, they can't discern the difference. We went to Anyplace because Maris has been on this quest to find the old school place or dingy diner which has great food, most notably the best hamburger, French fries, and saimin on Oahu. Maris ordered a cheeseburger, French fries, and saimin. I ordered a hamburger and fried noodles. The food was pretty good and I would go back, although the fried noodles were not the best. The hamburger was served on sandwich bread instead of on a bun, which was pretty old school. Guess it keeps the cost down since regular sandwiches and burgers can be served on the same kind of bread. The fries were pretty good, fried crispy like Maris orders them. I think the place gets pretty busy during prime time; when we were leaving, a couple more mixed groups of 4 came in. Prior to that, it was only the regular strays at the bar. So far, we have been to Jane's Fountain, Liliha Bakery, Shiro's, Tanaka Saimin, Shige's Saimin Stand, and a couple other places. First of all congratulations on the new location! This is my OG of OG and gosh how cool and spacious is their new spot though on the flip side parking is now the biggest challenge. I totally love the vibe here as it's super huge in comparison of their smaller former space it's incredible how many tv's they also got as there will never be a fear of missing out no matter where you're sitting. As soon as you step in there's a white board filled with specials and the one that caught our eyes was the Laulau plate...yum! Their regular menu is filled with all things we love like Spam & Egg, Fried Noodles, Kal Bi, Lechon even Vienna sausage. We did order the Laulau plate along with Garlic Soybeans, Chicken Wings, and yup Saimin! Everything was super good and just how I like it feels like home and comfort foods. My cuz picked me up around 9:15 in Waikīkī, and we arrived at nearby Anyplace around 9:30ish. Unfortunately, it was a Thu and it was last call. Nonetheless, we enjoyed a beer and cocktail at the bar from the nice bartender. I peeked at tbe menu, and it looked like they had good food. My cuz confirmed the foregoing. The ambiance is very casual, and is atypical of local joints in Hawai'i. Most people were locals and you could feel the Aloha. I'll have to come back on a Fri or Sat when they stay open til midnight. Respectfully, please do not come here if you have a large group. Came here on a whim with a party of 28 people. We called ahead of time to ask if they can accommodate and they assured us they could.... They couldn't. Let me explain: Our reservation time was 7pm. It took almost an hour to two hours for everyone's food to come out. Mind you, the restaurant wasn't too busy while we were there. 30-45 minutes after our party ordered, they notified us that they couldn't make 2 out of 4 steaks because they ran out. Because of the inconvenience, they didn't make it up to us in any way outside of taking them off our bill. Maybe a refill would keep customers coming back, just a tip. Another tip may be printing out menu QR codes and putting them on tables for easy access. We were only given 2 menus for our whole party. Also consider providing water for refilling cups for large parties. This place might be great for just grabbing drinks but if you think about where to go with a large party, please don't consider this place. read more

So far, over 4 separate visits, we have completely enjoyed their chopped salad, laulau plate, Super Duper combo sandwich (spam & egg, hamburger, grilled cheese, BLT), lumpia, Chinese steamed fish, lechon, fried noodles, vegetable plate, cold tofu and a St. Patty's special, shepherd's pie! We've been going here for over 12 years as regular patrons but some days it's packed with large groups who stay for karaoke or game night for hours so hard to get a table for 2. I understand that when establishments are busy, fast service might be a little harder to come by. But when you have severs outright ignoring you and taking orders for an ENTIRE TABLE of people instead, that's where I have to draw the line. No sorry, no nothing. The lady even matched eyes with us, yet deliberately walked away to put in the order of the group after us.. Absolutely horrible and unacceptable in any capacity. This review won't do anything to dent their revenue; rather, I took it upon myself to leave some trace of this atrocity in the digital ether in the hopes that the poor, clueless lady will hear about this some day and do her job a little better. Great local bar with karaoke and darts. Very lively with a lot of people and just a good time. The pupus are delicious and decently priced and big portions. We had such a good time with karaoke and it's $2 per song. Service is good and aunties taking care of you! The vibe is very friendly and everybody's having a great time. Parking stalls are very limited so try to come in a group if you can or Uber. We had the smoked meat, fries, kalbi, Chinese chicken salad, sandwiches and fried noodles. Everything was absolutely delicious like a home cooked mom's meal. Wine/whiskey menu is very plain and nothing exciting so don't expect something bougie. It wasn't that crowded and it seemed like the food took forever to come. My friends literally ordered just moments before we did and it took almost half an hour between their order and ours. A nice little hole in the wall to just kick back and relax. It's nothing special or loud or upbeat, but that's why I love it here. You feel welcomed and not like you have to dress fancy or spend a lot of money. The food is your common bar food, but it will get you by. Their kitchen does close a little early so be prepared. There have darts in the back, but sadly no pool table. The staff us friendly and welcoming and the same staff from their precious location. A humorous note to preface my review: I had originally planned to pick up dinner from The Cheesecake Factory since someone had sent me a text that mentioned that TCF was offering 2 slices of their yummy cheesecake with the online and take-out purchase of at least $30 (I'm so Chinese!). No cheesecake offered but that's a good thing if you're watching your sweets and calories, right? After placing my order and finding off street parking (why is their parking lot so full?) I walked into the entrance and found our that I was picking up tasty bar food during the NCAA football championship game between Alabama & Ohio State. Impact? That's why parking lot was packed with several trucks double parked. No biggy as I was able to catch some of the action while waiting for my food. Ordered kalbi, obachan chicken, grilled pork chops and fish & chips for 3 families. Even though the bar was packed with socially distancing customers glued to the tv and their food, service was great, food was great and I still got to feed the family with yummy take-out while patronizing a local small business. Ordered the kimchee fried rice, should hotdogs, tater tots with cheese and bacon, and fried chicken. Overall everything tasted great except the tater tots. It tasted very oily and mushy like they microved old tots with the cheese on top. I was a little bit disappointed with the kimchee fried rice. It tasted pretty good , but it was the same as the regular fried rice with a couple pieces of kimchee placed on top so there wasn't really any kimchee. We set off to go to anytime and took an Uber over there but after we got to where we were going we found out at wrong place we were supposed to be at Any Place and so glad we found it. When we got there a very nice lady told us that they were booked we told her what happened and she found a spot for us she was so kind and really very nice and sweet set the tone for what we were expecting a good dinner. They moved to the corner of McCully St & Young St recently, and although there's less parking there's a lot more sitting space. there's metered parking on King Street around the corner, and some space along McCully. You can also park in the bank lot across the street, but it is pricey. Great news, they recently started offering draft beer in addition to various bottles and cans. However, the real secret is the extensive menu, all recipes from the owner Judy herself. My favorites are the ribeye steak sliced pupu style, the crispy/oh-so-savory fried chicken, and the Kalbi ribs. My mom's favorite is the fish/tofu bites fried crispy with a dipping sauce. For a comfort dish try the chicken tofu or pork tofu, both comes in little pans in a wonderful soy sauce-based sauce with onions and lots of fresh watercress on top. If you're not a watercress fan like my mom, ask for it without! For your starch, they have tater tots and loaded tater tots but my favorite is the kimchi fried rice. You get a huge mound of it with an egg on top, always enough to take home leftovers. If you're in the sandwich mood, go with the mixed sandwich plate which has an assortment of spam and egg, BLT, and hamburger sandwiches.
