Silverware left behind on our table after the plates were collected.
    Jeff S.

We are frequent visitors to Waikiki and have eaten at Deck. more than 15 times over the years. Unfortunately, our most recent breakfast there with some local friends will also be our last. What should have been an enjoyable breakfast turned into an extremely disappointing service experience. Our waiter, Daniel, was friendly when he introduced himself, but things went downhill from there. When our food was delivered, we were missing several items we had ordered. Daniel never returned to check on our table or ask if everything had come out correctly. Instead, we could see him spending much of his time near the host desk talking with the hostesses and what appeared to be a manager. Eventually, we had to physically get up from our table and ask the bartender for more coffee and water. We noticed that the table next to us seemed to be dealing with the same lack of attention. Their breakfast was missing the pineapple they had requested, and they also had to get another server's attention just to get more water. What really stood out, though, was how our table was cleared. Daniel stacked the dirty plates directly on our table, removed the silverware from them, and placed it back on the table while pancake syrup dripped everywhere. He wasn't using a tray, and after picking up the plates, he left four place settings of dirty silverware stacked in a pool of syrup on our table. He never returned to collect them. While he was clearing the plates, we asked him to make sure we weren't charged for the menu items we had ordered but never received. Instead of apologizing, he seemed surprised and gave us a look as if to say, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?" The answer is simple: he never came back to our table after the food was delivered. Had he checked on us even once, we would have gladly told him what was missing. We visit Waikiki frequently and certainly understand that restaurants can get busy. However, Deck. did not appear unusually busy during our visit. Having to track down other employees for basic things like coffee, water, and missing food items, while watching our server socialize near the host stand, was extremely frustrating. It's particularly disappointing because we've enjoyed Deck. enough over the years to return more than 15 times. The restaurant has a great Waikiki location and atmosphere, which is why we kept coming back. Unfortunately, after this experience, we won't be returning. After being loyal customers for so many visits, the level of service we received during this breakfast fell far short of what we have come to expect from Deck.

    Burger was good

Effectively the pool deck bar and restaurant at the Queen K. Hotel. 3rd floor and good escape from the press of the streets just off Waikiki. Pool bathrooms... Service was friendly but slow. Moderately busy at 100 on a random sunny Monday. We waited 7-8 minutes for water. No offer to refill my empty coke. Food seemed to take a while. We had the burger and Caesar salad. Burger was great- a tad messy but flavors were excellent. Cooked to the medium I requested. Caesar also had good flavor but the leaves were warmish. Only lettuce, no croutons, etc that it can come with. $70 for our bill with two fountains.

We got a table for a party of eight in the middle of the restaurant, and with it came the most breathtaking view of Diamond Head like you could reach out and snatch it. Our server was so friendly, perfect amount of chill, and he kept the drinks flowing all evening! I only had a few nibbles of the nearest appetizers to me and I don't recall the nibbles to be noteworthy. I do recall some startlingly stale chips. I look forward to having a proper meal here the next time I visit! And there is sure to be a next time!

I think it was called "who do you think you are?" Mocktail and the small glass was something Waikīkī Mai tai
    Brayden A.

Food was pretty good I'd say 4.5 for that! Husband said the Not your local mai tai was incredible and I thought my who do you think you are mocktail was very good, the calamari was amazing and my spicy salmon roll was pretty good (one piece was more seared and the smokiness was divine) the fish taco were huge but were more aesthetically pleasing than tasting (still decent though). The service to be seated was fast so that was nice but we sat there with our menus closed for a bit before getting asked if we would like to order and didn't get more than one quick pass by right after getting our meal, we didn't need anything but my drink definitely looked empty for most of the time were there and my husband probably would have had a second drink if they had stopped by. She was very friendly just looked a little over worked with the amount of tables maybe! For the ambiance it was decent, a little odd with the pool being up there; though they do a decent job separating it from the restaurant. I think outside seating would have bumped this up to a 4 star review so keep that In mind if going, I didn't see an option on OpenTable to book outside so I'm assuming it was full which is a bummer! The table was a little sticky though and it was wobbly, and we were sat right behind the host station and them tossing menus on the table behind us was not the greatest addition to dinner. Overall I would say it was a good experience, just a bit expensive for the feel and everything. Glad we came but probably wouldn't go again.

Tokyo style pancakes -IMO, quite bland, not a fan.

Good food, attentive & friendly service, and the views do not disappoint. The haupia French toast is the clear winner for breakfast.

My nephew wanted to come here for his graduation dinner. Happy hour was good. Ordered the short ribs , sliders, chicken wings and Caesar Salad and Brussel sprouts. All was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. We sat on the inside so didn't see much of a view. We parked at the zoo.

My husband made a reservation at Deck. for my birthday, and we came during happy hour with our toddler. I was expecting something a little more formal after I saw the photos online, but the atmosphere was actually much more relaxed and casual and it worked great for us with a kid. It felt easygoing and comfortable. The food was very good. I had the Caesar salad with shrimps (you can choose the topping), and the shrimps were huge, fresh, and perfectly cooked. We also ordered truffle fries, sliders, calamari, and vegetarian rolls. My toddler especially loved the sliders. The happy hour menu felt perfect for sharing smaller plates and trying different things. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive without being over the top. One of the staff members even offered to take family photos for us and knew exactly where the best spot with the view was, which I really appreciated. The main downside for me was the cleanliness. Our table itself was fine, but the surrounding space felt messy (wet floors, straw wrappers on the ground, and a wet towel sitting on the floor for quite a while). Nothing dramatic, but enough to affect the overall impression a little bit. Overall, we still had a really nice birthday dinner there. Good food, beautiful views, friendly staff, and a laid-back atmosphere that worked surprisingly well for a family dinner with a toddler.

Booked this last minute (same day) and we're so glad we did. A beautiful view of the cannon. Service was great. We got the wedge salad (soooo good) with an add-on of garlic shrimp which were a bit pricey but super flavorful. The calamari was good too. Nice salt/pepper seasoning. But the real star was the sliders. They were so juicy and tender! Loved.

Diamond Head Breakfast with Portuguese sausage

The fam and I went here for the first time yesterday and it was great! Someone recommended it for its beautiful views and they were amazing!! We ate breakfast facing Diamondhead mountain and it was sooo worth it. Service was ok but they were a bit busy and nothing to complain about. My kids got the French toast, I got the reg breakfast eggs, bacon, potatoes and hubby got the same but with Portuguese sausage. I loved the way they fried the potatoes, delicious!! The iced mocha coffee was tasty if you like it sweet. We will absolutely be back before our vaca ends!!

Happy hour here is such a win, I can't believe I didn't know about it before. Got sliders, garlic truffle fries, hamachi carpaccio, and brussels sprouts (the last two modified for my allergies). They are SO on top of accommodations. Huge shoutout to Abby - perfect service, super knowledgeable, checked in just the right amount. 10/10 experience.

Service- 4 stars Food and drink- 5 stars Ambiance - 5 stars I loved my evening at the Deck today! The view of Diamond Head was probably my highlight along with my date and the fact that it was an open air setting. I did not feel uncomfortable with an overpowering a/c setting and the weather was perfect for a dinner outside! I ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio that was served dressed with saved Maui onion, jalapeño Sukarno cilantro and chili threads and with salad. The sauce was delish and still thinking about the thinly sliced Hamachi. We ordered the Hot stuff cocktail and was my fav between that and the Nice Melons cocktail. The Hot Stuff cocktail came with jalapeño seasoning on the rim which provided an extra kick to the beverage! The reason why I would rate the service 4 stars is because I felt like we were being rushed to leave our table . I don't even think we were offered any dessert before our check was handed to us. Aside from that, I thought our waiter hustled and was very helpful.

Japanese fluffy pancakes, delicious and don't skip on the berry compote to go with it

Shout out to our server Jordan! He was a gem from the moment we sat down. This was our second time coming to the restaurant as we didn't realize the Tokyo style pancakes were only done on weekdays so we left on Sunday and came back on Monday. However, the pancakes were sold out by 10 AM and they had to make another batch which they informed me would take an extra 45 minutes. I said no problem. However, it ended up taking about an hour and a half. However, Jordan was a saving grace for this, constantly keeping me updated making sure I was happy and comfortable, and once the pancakes got there, they were absolute heaven, and he even brought me a side of the berry compote on the house because I had to wait and that side made my dish absolutely shine. I would absolutely come here again!

Deck is easily one of my favorite spots for its unbeatable view of Diamond Head. I could sit there for hours just taking it all in. The atmosphere is super laid back, making it perfect whether you're meeting friends or for a special celebration. Deck has become my favorite place for happy hour. There were so many great options to choose from. The food and drinks were both on point, and it's hard to beat that combination with a view like Diamond Head. Our server was top tier--constantly checking in to make sure everything was good with our drinks and food. It made the whole experience feel easy and taken care of. Parking is convenient too, with options at the hotel or right across the street, which makes it even easier to stop by.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

The interior was also well designed but I wish our group was sat in a different area of the bar. We got sat in this one corner and it was dark with like translucent lights, kinda like Jinx's lair from Arcane. Idk just wished we sat somewhere else with more light and visibility of the bar. The drinks were pretty good. It's a large menu and honestly I wanted to try multiple drinks but can't be getting all drunk and stuff you know the vibes. Also I know it's unrelated to this establishment but it's next to a billiards hall and that was legendary. Great vibe, great place, highly recommend.

Apparently you're normally supposed to put a coin in to open the secret door, but it's broken right now, so the whole vending machine just swings right open. Slightly less secret, but still very cool. Inside is where this place really shines. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

What we thought was a pawn shop turned out to be... a speakeasy?!…read more What a lovely surprise. A gem of a find! I will never forget this experience. I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
