We moved out of state recently and the one big thing our daughter "wished she could take with her" was Next Level. After we moved my husband contacted Joe Aratari asking him for advice about gyms here in NC. He actually took the time to do research about gyms here that were most similar to Next Level. I feel challenged, but I'm never bored. Every class includes running, rowing, weightlifting, and stretching. The warmups and cooldowns are built in. In this way, Orangetheory is a "catered" experience, rather than "à la carte" experience. If all you care about is running a marathon, or if you want to strengthen your upper body but not your lower body, Orangetheory might not be the right gym for you. On the other hand, if you're like me, and you just want to improve your physical and mental health, without learning exactly how to do it, Orangetheory is perfect. Many years ago, while signing up for another gym, the sales staff asked me what I wanted to get out of my membership. "I just want to be healthier," I replied. They didn't know what to do with that answer. Laughing, they told me to be more specific. If you don't think that's a crazy thing to say--if you just want to be healthier, however it's achieved--Orangetheory is a great choice. Just show up and do what the coaches say. You'll leave with a great, full-body workout. I've visited many Orangetheory studios, but I'm leaving this review here, for Victor, my home studio, because it's my favorite by far. Everyone is so friendly, and the coaches are great. I especially love attending Grant's classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. He's a fun dude, and we happen to have similar tastes in music. Jenn is also super motivating and a skilled runner. Geoff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I can't complain about a single one of them. Give it a shot and see what you think. There are lots of promotions going on all the time, like free trial classes. You might find it really works for you.

Walked in to work out and noticed Fox News wasn't on any of their many TVs. When asked, staff flat-out said they're "not allowed" to put it on. So let me get this straight, dozens of televisions, nonstop sports, random reality nonsense, and selectively approved news channels, but one mainstream news network is banned? That's not "judgment free," that's controlled and biased. I'm here to lift weights, not be quietly told what viewpoints are acceptable. If Planet Fitness wants to act like a politically filtered bubble instead of a gym, they should be honest about it. Plenty of other gyms manage to treat adults like adults and let them choose what they watch. Do better or at least stop pretending this place is neutral! So...my husband and I as well as our children and their families will no longer be members.

Terrible, non-existent customer service! I was charged for my monthly fees and because of a glitch…read more(to no fault of mine) the charge did. It go through and I was charged numerous late fees. When I tried to address it with the manager (who could care less about customers and never followed up or called me back) he never responded and was avoiding my calls. The is supposedly a district manager, who was also absentia and never followed up on my request to get the late fees waived. So, they stole charged me the two late fees (on a $15 charge) as they must really need the money and showed me they could care less about the customer once they get you to sign up. I have never dealt with such a horribly managed establishment.

Tried to cancel my membership at LA Fitness Perinton today and had one of the worst customer…read moreservice experiences I've had in a long time. I was asked why I was canceling, told them there really wasn't a specific reason, and was repeatedly pressed for one anyway. When I finally said "just put whatever you want," the employee claimed my account was closed -- but instead only sent me an email with instructions on how to cancel myself, including one option telling me to go back into the location to cancel in person. As I was leaving, he muttered "fat fuck" under his breath, and when I turned around and asked him to repeat it, he refused. Thankfully, I called corporate support in California and they were excellent. They immediately helped close both my account and my wife's account over the phone and documented the complaint about the employee. Also worth noting for anyone in New York: gyms are required to provide a way to cancel over the phone, so you do NOT have to go into the location to cancel your membership. Stay vigilant, my friends, and be warned about the experience at LA Fitness Perinton. Huge credit to the corporate phone support team for handling it professionally.
