The best things about the gym, though, are the owners and the atmosphere. I got to know Colin, and it's clear he cares for his customers. He's happy to answer questions and get you started and charges reasonable rates for personal training to help you customize a routine. I only briefly met his wife, but it was clear from observing her with clients that she shares her husband's passion for fitness and helping and encouraging others to meet their goals. They maintain a supportive, non- competitive atmosphere where you can progress at your own rate. I went in the mornings around 0830--a time when the gyms back home are usually fairly crowded. Since it's open 24 hours, people can space out their times and go when it's convenient for them, not just when their free time matches gym hours. While there were always people there, it never felt overcrowded; I only had to wait for the power cage once for maybe 10 minutes to do squats, which was fine, since there was plenty else to keep my leg day occupied until I could hop in. They also accept many different insurance plans. All in all, it's a fantastic gym. If you're out this way, I highly recommend checking it out. I feel challenged, but I'm never bored. Every class includes running, rowing, weightlifting, and stretching. The warmups and cooldowns are built in. In this way, Orangetheory is a "catered" experience, rather than "à la carte" experience. If all you care about is running a marathon, or if you want to strengthen your upper body but not your lower body, Orangetheory might not be the right gym for you. On the other hand, if you're like me, and you just want to improve your physical and mental health, without learning exactly how to do it, Orangetheory is perfect. Many years ago, while signing up for another gym, the sales staff asked me what I wanted to get out of my membership. "I just want to be healthier," I replied. They didn't know what to do with that answer. Laughing, they told me to be more specific. If you don't think that's a crazy thing to say--if you just want to be healthier, however it's achieved--Orangetheory is a great choice. Just show up and do what the coaches say. You'll leave with a great, full-body workout. I've visited many Orangetheory studios, but I'm leaving this review here, for Victor, my home studio, because it's my favorite by far. Everyone is so friendly, and the coaches are great. I especially love attending Grant's classes on Mondays and Wednesdays. He's a fun dude, and we happen to have similar tastes in music. Jenn is also super motivating and a skilled runner. Geoff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I can't complain about a single one of them. Give it a shot and see what you think. There are lots of promotions going on all the time, like free trial classes. You might find it really works for you.

They also have a TV channel sign, but it doesn't match the channels on the TVs. Other than that, the equipment in this place is in good working order. I do like the two big ass fans above the the treadmills, those really cool you down! There is lots of equipment in here, and I like the areas where you can do a mini workout, like for your abs. Tried to cancel my membership at LA Fitness Perinton today and had one of the worst customer…read moreservice experiences I've had in a long time. I was asked why I was canceling, told them there really wasn't a specific reason, and was repeatedly pressed for one anyway. When I finally said "just put whatever you want," the employee claimed my account was closed -- but instead only sent me an email with instructions on how to cancel myself, including one option telling me to go back into the location to cancel in person. As I was leaving, he muttered "fat fuck" under his breath, and when I turned around and asked him to repeat it, he refused. Thankfully, I called corporate support in California and they were excellent. They immediately helped close both my account and my wife's account over the phone and documented the complaint about the employee. Also worth noting for anyone in New York: gyms are required to provide a way to cancel over the phone, so you do NOT have to go into the location to cancel your membership. Stay vigilant, my friends, and be warned about the experience at LA Fitness Perinton. Huge credit to the corporate phone support team for handling it professionally.

My daughter…read morewent there for tumbling and flying classes and summer camp and because she enjoyed the experience so much, she wanted to be on one of the cheer teams. To be clear, my daughter was 14 when she attended these classes--she was not a little kid wowed with camp activities. And she came with only a back handspring. She's competitive and likes the way the coaches push for results. Despite being "old" to start the sport, she was able to advance her skills through levels 2, 3, and 4. She cheered for two years and both years her teams won bids to The Summit in Orlando. This year she's cheering level 5. Competitive cheer is not a walk in the park. It is an intense sport that requires dedication and discipline. The coaches there are all about that. If you're looking for someone to deliver roses and sunshine to someone who isn't pushing him or herself to advance, this isn't for you. If you want someone to help your child advance his or her skills and your child is motivated to do so, then you should check it out.
