Oh my word. Such excellent empanadas. We ordered for delivery, and they were still piping hot. Our favorite was the curry chicken, however, we ordered the macaroni and cheese, and the beef. Ap's is a tiny place filled with yummy foods and friendly folks. We were walking near Castro and 24th streets and came upon this little shop. We read the menu (see photo) and smelled the savory scents and went inside. The display case is packed with hand pies - both savory and sweet - plus there are soups, and there is a a frig of beverages. We each ordered 1 empanada and 1 pie. 4 different flavors filled our plates. The proprietor was welcoming, patient, and knew all her stock. The seating area is limited to the storefront window, but we were comfortable and had plenty of room in our corner of the U shaped area that seats about 6-9. Our lunches were heated to perfection, smelled heavenly, tasted delish, and were easy to hand eat. We had our eyes on the sweet pies for dessert, but were too full! Ap's gives a very pleasant experience. I've come here for lunch a couple times and get an empanada with the Thai curry soup. The empanadas have all been good in their own right and play well with the flavors of the soup. The empanada crust hold everything together well and isn't soggy. The fillings (beef and chicken) are pretty good and flavorful. I didn't expect much from the Thai soup but damn is it good. It's not overly spicy and is balanced. It is more challenging to get the food and eat within the 30-minute lunch break during pandemic because the line is always long.
